About The Eaton Oak
The Eaton Oak was originally an 1800’s farmhouse on the outskirts of St Neots called Squire’s. From 1980 – 1992 the pub was owned and run by the Stephenson family who converted the site to a pub called ‘The Rocket’, named after Robert Stephenson historic, ‘Stephenson’s Rocket’ locomotive. The original site is grade II listed.
Now operated by Wells and Co (formerly Charles Wells) in partnership with Little Gems Country Dining. Newly opened with a very different look: new bar, bright and airy dining area with new conservatory feel, extended outside terrace, 9 x boutique en-suite bedrooms and a large car park.
Located just off the A1, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
Food was excellent, staff very helpful & friendly & good system for booking, ordering & paying. One way system for coming in & out of pub & plenty of hand sanitizers.
Very well organised with current restrictions and will definitely come back
We were so impressed with the approach and the welcome on the first day of reopening in this new Covid Secure environment. All very well organised and explained, from a friendly team and with a lovely atmosphere despite the changes. Well done to everyone there!
Lovely warm atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming. The food was excellent and service was great. We thoroughly had a lovely evening and are looking forward to returning soon!
We had an amazing experience celebrating a family occasion. Staff went above & beyond for us. Highly recommend the Eaton Oak for any occasion.
Fab food. Our waitress was just lovely!
You must have a good chef as the food was excellent. The staff very friendly. You could offer a less sweet dessert eg plain yogurt, fruit. The cheese board was good but I don't normally eat cheese in that quantity and I try to avoid sugary desserts. My wife likes the desserts.
Thank you for making my mothers bday extra special
Libby waited on us and she was very professional, polite and couldn’t do enough for us, made sure we had everything we wanted, excellent service.
First time visiting since your refurb and was blown away by how it looks. Such a lovely setting. Food was great. Friendly staff , and happy to help when I asked for a mocktail by sending the barman over to discuss exactly what it was I would like. Will definatley return.
Don’t usually leave feedback especially if it’s not complimentary but the food was really not that great. Thai curry was not Thai curry, way too many, what tasted like picked onions & pineapple?? The fish had way too many bones, the sweet potato fries tasted like flowers. The soup was lovely & it’s great they you cater for vegans etc but need a lot more variety. The service was fab though, our waitress was really lovely and helpful
Another lovely evening dining at the Oak.
Our waiter cleared the table of plates before all of our group had finished eating their main course, awful table service but otherwise friendly atmosphere and enjoyed the food.
Everyone who attended applaud the efforts made to provide the spread of food which was most delicious. Being in the conservatory area was lovely especially as it was such a lovely day. It was a sad day as it was a reception after my wife's funeral service. She most certainly would have approved of the venue. People who had not met for a long while were able to catch up in a lovely atmosphere. We all appreciate the efforts made by all staff but especially Lianne in ensuring everything went well. Thanks so much.
If we hadn't ordered in advance we wouldn't have been able to enjoy our evening. It is common knowledge that the service is very slow and it is putting people off so if there is anyway this can be improved The Eaton Oak will be the place to go.
Great refurbishment, vast improvement on old place, very attentive staff.
Great staff, good choice of food.partner very happy with his chicken roast, but really wasn’t keen on my vegetable strudel. Have to point out, had an amazing sea bass dish in February...shame it wasn’t on the Sunday menu
1st time we've been since the refurbishment, really pleased with the experience and service
I love the pub, it is so much better than it was before the reform. The waiters were friendly and the service good. The menu has plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans and has gluten free options. Portions are good and food is well presented. I am looking forward for the good weather to be able to eat outside.
The food and service was great.
We were a party of 8 people. Initial reservation and communication were great. Lovely looking restaurant. Unfortunately the food didn’t live up to the same standards. A few of the starters were lovely but the majority were ‘OK’. The mains were definitely more a miss than a hit. The pork belly was so dry we were amazed you could cook it that way! The chips were so overcooked that you could break your teeth on them. To add insult to injury, they cleared the table whilst people were still eating. I’m afraid this is one restaurant we won’t be visiting again.
Great atmosphere and service. Food was good but nothing spectacular but due to how busy it was impressive all the same. Will definitely visit again.
The pub renovation is brilliant and well needed. The food is much better than previous and we enjoyed it. However, a couple of things to feedback. My crab linguine was good and had loads of crab (which you usually don't get so thank you!) but needed a little more flavour. My daughter had the kids mac and cheese which she enjoyed but the garlic bread was a little uncreative being made on a piece of standard white sliced bread. I think this could have been improved upon. Otherwise, staff great and pub much cleaner and more welcoming. We will be back.
This is our second visit, the food is great but service needs a bit of work, the food is very quick to come out, it took a while to order and hadn’t been offered any drinks first, weren’t offered a wine list any other drinks throughout the meal so sat there drinking tap water which was fine, but had the drinks order been taken when we sat down more drinks would of been ordered to go with the meal, staff friendly just inexperienced, would still go back
There was a large party and the food was a little late coming out. Attitude of staff very good but lacked cohesion with guests to ensure food was out on time. Nonetheless a very good experience, enjoyable and will be back.
