About The Duke of Richmond
Pub and Dining Room
if you are advertising a roast dinner at least make the potatoes hot, ours were yellow in colour just like boiled potatoes and cold when we complained rather than offering a refund we waited 5 minutes for 6 roast potatoes to be served on an half empty plate , not good enough style over substance not a patch on oldroyd in islington
We had a fantastic lunch at the Duke of Richmond, food is fantastic, service was good, wine selection really nice. We have booked to re visit with friends in 2 weeks, which is a good sign :)
Very friendly staff, good atmosphere, fine drinks. The starters were superb. The main course, c.q. the burger, not bad but nothing special.
Good food and atmosphere. Bit noisy for an old codger like me with one bad ear. Great service
The pork chop was delightful
Our table was not available upon arrival and we did not sit down until 10 minutes after the original booking. We booked weeks in, so they shouldn't have been surprised by our arrival. We received a lazy apology, having been forced to sit and wait in the bar. We went for the cote du boeuf. Which was cooked to a perfect rare. But for £60 I probably expected a bit more meat and fewer chips. For dessert we shared the choux bun with chocolate and cherries, which was devoid of any sweetness. We were just left to taste a bitter dessert as the cream in the pastry nor the cherries brought anything to the dish. This restaurant promised a lot but on the night it did not live up to expectation.
We enjoyed our second visit to The Duke of Richmond. Our waiter and waitress were very friendly and engaging and above all the food was delicious.
Pretty much in our top five on the basis of last night’s meal. Thank the Guardian for the review that led is to you, and thank you for a great evening. We’ll be back soon.
We had a really lovely time and really love the venue it is a great addition to the area. Food was great and the staff super lovely.... it’s a lovely place to be and we will be back
Great food and wine, served by lovely people.
Feating menu was excellent for a large group. Food was to a high standard any plentiful
Another lovely meal with very friendly capable staff
We had a lovely evening at the Duke of Richmond. The food was outstanding and we would not hesitate to return.
The food was generally delicious - fresh & light. Unfortunately a side dish was forgotten and so came late, and was under cooked. We could only get a table early (6pm) for dinner, by when there few people and not much of an atmosphere. The service was prompt & efficient (except the side dish) but could have been warmer, more friendly & welcoming.
Despite reading a very promising review in the Guardian, unfortunately our view on the quality of the food was quite different. We ordered the trout rillettes a burger and the mackerel. The trout was very salty, the fried potatoes on both mains were under cooked (we and the table next to us sent them back), the mackerel was dry and over cooked and the burger had way too much blue cheese on top making it excessively salty. Sadly quite disappointing as it’s a new local for us and we had high hopes.
Great place , good food and atmosphere - would definitely go back .
Delicious meal and excellent wine.
Only grumble from my party was that some of the drinks ( cocktail / gin & T ) could have been better assembled Otherwise all very good
The bar tender was clueless but nice. When I asked what wine she would suggest she looked t me like I was insane. You have a decent menu it wouldn't be hard to let some one know what wines suit what foods. Other servers were really helpful and knowledgeable.
Really lovely lunch will be back. Thanks!
First time I've tried the Duke of Richmond under the new regime. I have to say we had brilliant service the food was delicious, fresh, tasty and good vegetarian choice. Really good home made bread and butter and I think it's better value for money than previously. Some food for thought, offer some premium olive oil as an alternative to butter with the bread. I know some chefs don't like salt and pepper on the table but as a customer I do, the salt and pepper dispensers offered were rubbish, serve it in dishes and maybe pimp up with some smoked salt! It was also very warm and by the look of trade it's probably time to invest in some better AC We will be back soon x
It was incredibly hot and uncomfortable. There appeared to be no air conditioning. Salt cellars didn’t work.
Everything was delicious and the service spot on. A brilliant neighbourhood restaurant that we hope to visit often. Welcome to hackney!
Great food and interesting drinks list, Initial drinks waiter was clearly new as he did not know what Appletize was! Other staff on the ball.
Overall, it was really good, however the dauphinoise potatoes were only luke warm with the roast lamb, which was the only thing that could have been better. Service was excellent and the atmosphere and prices were great too.
