About The Duke
Prior to being The Duke the pub was The Racing Page, a sports pub & we believe, before this, The Cobwebs. Food & Fuel bought next door which use to trade as a cafe, knocked through to create a dining room & have never looked back. The Duke is yards away from Richmond Green, perfect for a leg stretch after lunch & just around the corner is the beautiful Richmond Theatre.
We are Irish rugby fans and were here with two friends St Patrick’s Day, prior to the England v Ireland match at Twickenham. We had already eaten here on recommendation by our daughter two years previously for the same away fixture. The atmosphere in the Duke is fantastic, as is the welcome to all rugby fans. We loved the ambience, the courtesy during such busy circumstances and the great food at reasonable prices. Louise was especially helpful. We enjoyed our meal, just bring back the delicious chicken liver parfait on the sharing platter please, it was deliciousl
Average roast at best- potatoes tasted powdery. Suspect they were frozen rather than fresh. Service average at best - had to chase waiters for menus and waitress tried to serve mains without clearing starter plates. Our reservation was at 4 and it was not as if the restaurant was particularly busy at that time. Ambience in the restaurant average.
Fantastic food and lovely staff who were really helpful. Great Sunday roast with all the trimmings! Would highly recommend.
Great venue for friends catch up
Nice food served promptly.
We arrived later than hoped due to traffic. The staff were excellent and took and served our order within half an hour of theatre time. Food was hot and very tasty. The Duke is one we will be revisiting
Great as always and great waiter - sorry should have asked his name!
The waiters were charming. And the heating was on which is very unusual in retaurants and very welcome - most restaurnts are too cold.
Brilliant as always, great staff and great food.
Fantastic food !
Excellent friendly and helpful service. Warm atmosphere .
Girlfriend supper every few months. This is great venue, relaxed informal and no hassling to order or leave when finished .
Maybe more choice on the mains - very good food but if I was to come several times I would be bored with the limited choices on the menu
Great food and great service!
Went for sunday roast and I loved my lamb. The beef that my husband had was overcooked. The food took 25min to arrive at the table.
Lovely experience, they made my boyfriends birthday very special. Delicious food and great service. Would highly recommend going here.
Nice meal on a quiet Friday after New Year. Others had sea bass which was perfectly cooked, I had calves liver which was over-done for my taste, but very tasty. Good desserts, ice cream very nice. Friendly & helpful staff.
Firstly when we got there there was no table for us. No apology offered. Eventually we were given a table right by the speakers, where we had no choice but to sit in a row, which meant zero conversation. We ordered a bottle of champagne whilst we were stood waiting for our table.... 20mins we were still waiting for it. We could see the bar staff just stood there chatting and bizarrely, hugging each other. The waiter we were eventually allocated was great, and was sincere in his apologies regarding the appalling service thus far. The poor guy was running around like a blue a*se fly and was clearly the only one who was committed to doing his job. I’m sorry but most of the staff looked like grubby students who couldn’t care less about their job. The place was not hugely busy and plenty of staff/kitchen stadd seemed to spend the evening standing around chatting. One of our party didn’t receive her food as it wasn’t put through to the kitchen. No apology, round of drinks to say sorry etc. Just shoddy from start to finish I’m afraid. Having been to your pub many times, I’m afraid to say i doubt we’ll be back, it has the air of a grubby pub where you wouldn’t really want to spend time.
Lovely food, amazing service! Really happy about recent Christmas Social visit (14 people)
Great Sunday lunch
Great Sunday lunch with a large group of us. The restaurant was very accommodating, food was great and served really quickly. Thanks a lot.
Marvellous staff and made our lunch excellent even though it was very busy the service was friendly and tip top!
Friendly and efficient staff. Fast service.
We were all 3 of us disappointed on our visit on sunday. Have been numerous times before and always enjoyed food. However this time all of our potoates were hard (we did get 2 more between the 3 of us) We all thought the food was over priced with only 2 slices of beef for my companions and my lentil and mushroom roast was dry and bland. We declined dessert. We were offered a drink on the house in lui of free dessert offered. The only member of staff who seemed concerned and the only one who apologised was the female waitress who brought us our bill. The other male staff members were nonplussed. None of us will be returning anytime soon or recommending the Duke to others. I hope it was just a bad day and you return to past form forthwith.
Very friendly service, particularly our waitress who I would like to recommend very highly. She was extremely solicitous and kind, especially to my elderly relative. Thank you for making it a lovely start to our evening.
