About The Dragon
Set in the heart of Colgate we serve stunning steaks cooked on the robata, seasonal dishes in a relaxed and welcoming setting
We were a large party and were accommodated with no problem and all seated together. Food was excellent and all served at the same time. Would definitely recommend the Dragon to others.
Great meal and service, decor and ambience was also fantastic- well done to all the team at The Dragon!
The food was amazing, and came quickly especially considering how many people arrived at the same time as us. Friendly staff and good service.
We were looking forward to eating at the Dragon..felt the team went through the motions without being that interested. Waited over half an hour for puddings that were not ordered by one of the team...Disappointing and I wouldn’t rush back.
Was quite noisy with two groups in the conservatory. Conversation was difficult at times. Food was excellent as was the service. Thank you
Good food but the whole experience was let down by a very disinterested waitress! She clearly didn’t want to be there. We prefer the Cherry Tree, much friendlier and more atmosphere.
Fabulous food, relaxed and friendly service. Such a stunning pub.
Lovely pub with great atmosphere. Really friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious and great value for money. Definately recommend !!
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Definitely be returning.
Great place, friendly staff. Food amazing. Thank you.
The Dragon is one of our faves. The fish and chips is best pub ones we have had. My husband wants to go for the tiger Cajun prawns alone. Always great. Although... I used to love the mixed grill but last few times it has been a bit too char for my liking, but won’t put me off trying other menu items!
First time here after seeing posts on facebook, and we fell in love! From the staff, the dining area, to the amazing choice on the menu and the outstanding food, everything was spot on. Expensive but worth every penny. we will be back and recommending to friends and family x
Lovely lunch, always a real pleasure and value for money eating at The Dragon
The Dragon has been my favourite restaurant for a few years now which is why I decided to go here with my family for my Birthday so much so I came here 2 days running. I had scallops to start and they were okay, nothing special. My choice of main course was unavailable (ribs) so I opted for a chicken burger and it was highly disappointing. I then had chocolate fondant to share afterwards and it was over cooked and dry. The service was mediocre on both days too. Unfortunately The Dragon is no longer my favourite restaurant. :(
Good tasty food and good service, thank you.
Great food and service
Amazing food as always!
We came for our anniversary dinner on the 24/7 . We received our starter which was fine. Our mains arrived after a slight delay. The ribs were good but the salad leaves were wilted as the chicken was obviously put on top too hot. It was at this stage when the service went downhill. There were only two people serving and it was not only busy inside, the garden was full too. I tried unsuccessfully to attract some attention. When someone did finally come back it was too late. We were asked if we wanted the dessert menu. We said we would. We waited 20 minutes and still the menu didn't turn up. We had to chase around to get our bill. So we left without dessert. The whole experience ruined our evening. I have eaten with you before and it was very good in every aspect however i will be thinking twice before I return again. It is certainly not the way to keep the customer returning.
First time at the Dragon and I was very impressed with the food and the service with friendly staff. I am looking forward to returning and would highly recommend.
We have visited the dragon many times and it's been great, but on this occasion the service was poor. We saw people who sat down ages after us get served first and when we did finally get our food one of the mains ( the roast) was so long coming out that some members of the party had almost finished theirs by the time everyone got their food. We were also charged £3.00 for a salad that we were told was included in the dish and the dessert was still frozen in the middle when served.
Excellent all round dining experience
On the day we visited the restaurant was clearly under staffed.
Have always drove passed your pub and wanted to come and see what the food was like. All I can say you didn’t disappoint. The food was lovely and with such amazing weather you have a glorious patio area to enjoy too. I definitely recommend the mixed grill and the chocolate fondant.
Fab pub without being basic OR to gastro! Chicken burgers to die for!!
We wanted to introduce our friends to The Dragon as we enjoy the food and the lovely garden area, so we booked for Sunday 15th July. After changing the time for my booking via a very abrupt phone call, we arrived at The Dragon at our revised time. We were met by a man (I assume the manager and the person I had spoken to on the phone previously) who told me I was late and had given our table away. I explained I had called to change the time. He didn’t respond and simply walked off and pointed at a table to sit at. A blonde waitress came over to take our drinks orders. She was again, abrupt and quite rude. No smiles or friendly welcomes, just “what do you want”. The man/manager then came and slammed our drinks down not acknowledging us. Our food arrived; two prawn cocktails and two Cajun prawns to start. Prawn cocktails were tasteless with tiny prawns and a bland sauce. The Cajun prawns were delicious and would recommend. We all had a variant of the roast dinner for mains. We all agreed we could have done with more veg, the potatoes were under cooked and hard in the middle, powder mix gravy but the meat was lovely. Desserts were also very tasty. Overall, a really disappointing meal and bad service. The one saving grace was the dark haired waitress (apologies I didn’t catch her name) but she was brilliant. Friendly, smiley, polite and professional. The other staff and the manager have a lot to learn from her. Despite the beautiful interior and garden, there are Lots of other better places to go for a Sunday lunch.
