About The Dog Inn Whittington
Charming and warm gastropub in the heart of Whittington offering seasonal menus, Sunday lunches and a wide variety of spirits and cocktails in an idyllic and tranquil surrounding.
Fabulous meal, beautiful little restaurant. Had lovely afternoon there with my family. Will definitely be going back.
A family evening ...great steak nice atmosphere ...our local pub so easy to visit we will be back !
First appearance witch is important was disappointing weeds need dealing with in the patio/beer garden area inside was nicely done and the food and service was fine..
Great pub, lovely decor . Food was good apart from frozen, undercooked chips , they were a real letdown
this was my forth visit and my worse, booked three weeks in advance, had to sit in the bar area, first table we were given was not fit for six people. only one person was happy with the food. we did not make a fuss on the night because we did not want to spoil our evening. don't think we will be going again for a very long time, shame really because the pub is nice.
Service very very slow considering there were many empty tables. There was one table in the dining room with hard wooden chairs with ripped cushions and that’s where we were shown to.. we asked to move to another table which we did with no problem.. so why were we given that table when others were vacant. Waitress took order for drinks but had to come back with wine list then forgot to come back for order, we eventually had to find out what the delay was.. after main meals were served we had to wait almost an hour for staff to ask if we wanted dessert menu.. three hours it took to serve 4 people 2 courses. We were surprised no veg served but weirdly one person in our group was served peas with the fish and chips yet the other meal of fish and chips had no peas., and the lamb chops were served on a bed which could only be described as a potato purée..again no veg...?. altogether a place we won’t be returning to..
There were no pizzas, burgers or vegetarian options available. Sides at £3.95 each were expensive - especially when the veg was predominantly peas. We were not asked if the meals were good. We were not offered dessert or coffee & I had to get up to ask for the bill. Disappointing - the pub has been done out well, but none of the little touches that make such a difference to the evening.
Good food & wine. Service just OK but superfluous staff seemed far more interested in each other than the customers
Fantastic food, service and entertainment 😬
Quick service (but we were the only people there). A full menu alongside the specials would be ideal, especially when the group contains an elderly gent. We were on the brink of having drinks only because the specials menu wasn't adequate enough (minimal choice and all foreign food). When I requested if there was a British menu we were only given the roast options. Medium warm food with piping hot vegetables and super salty gravy arrived very quickly. We skipped desert, paid at the bar and left. Doubt we'll be returning.
Excellent and can't wait to come back. We had the bottomless tapas lunch. Food was amazing and very filling. Service was fantastic with very attentive staff. Cannot recommend it enough.
Had a really lovely tasty meal with friends in beautiful decor surroundings would definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. If I would need to make a comment cook home made chunky chips. Other than that perfect.
Just needed to be more obvious that there were vegetarian/vegan options available. Seemed like only option was a pasta dish, which is not very exciting! Once we asked, there were other options and no problem at all. Chatty and friendly staff. Great decor/feel.
Food was amazing, service very good , staff attentive, shame it was so quiet but maybe it was just a lull after a lunchtime rush. Would highly recommend
Excellent service and food
Great food and service
Great atmosphere we had a lovely meal and excellent service will certainly book again
Lively atmosphere, good food and drink, will visit again soon.
We absolutely loved having our function at The Dog. The ambience and warmth of the hosts is fantastic. The food is there is delicious and exceeded our expectations. The service and the bar is fabulous. I would highly recommend it to anyone! Many thanks 👍🏼
Top quality in every aspect.
Very mediocre food. Heritage tomato? I don’t think so. Beetroot purée? No sign of that. Cold mussels with the sole - yuk! and the dish was swimming in oil. Have eaten here a few times before but certainly won’t rush to repeat the experience.
Great place food is amazing!
We visited last Friday evening with our weekend visitors. We were so disappointed with the whole experience. The restaurant was extremely noisy even though we were situated in a corner it was hard to have a conversation. Our starter order was was wrong but the only recompense offered was reducing the cost of the incorrect starter by 50% . Overall the quality of the food was poor and overpriced. We shall not be returning.
What a beautiful experience from the minute we walked through the door until we reluctantly left . Thank you for delicious food and advice on the wine , which was perfect accompaniment to our meal and the attentiveness . We will be coming back . Thank you.
