We were on the Chefs Table and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, extremely professional and competant and prepared to take whatever time was necessary to make our visit enjoyable.
Simply brilliant from moment of anticipation when you see the gates... It just keeps giving. Lovely staff.
Overall the whole experience was fantastic, Food, service exceptional, the wine pairings were sensational.
Welcome on arrival was thoughtful Ambience great Service excellent as always. Food excellent Entertainment/Pianist excellent Value for money - Excellent Enjoyed the experience. Would recommend to others. Will be back for more. Well fine Whatley. NG.
Absolutely faultless throughout, superb experience. I brought my husband for a 60th birthday treat. We stayed overnight in a lovely superior room overlooking the courtyard, on a 'Michelin Star Experience' package, which included an 11 course taster menu evening meal, which had been tailored to our likes, and was incredible. An unexpected visit to the kitchen was a great surprise and thoroughly enjoyed by us both. Breakfast the following morning was also excellent. The service received from all members of staff was very attentive and totally professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 visits to the Spa as well. We have nothing but praise for Whatley Manor and its team. Thank you so much for making our visit so special and memorable.
We had a fabulous evening enjoying the 11 course meal experience to celebrate my husband's birthday. Everything was excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and most especially the interaction with the kitchen, a novel and interesting addition to the whole experience. Staff are attentive, knowledgable and friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and we will be back.
Excellent experience..lots of lovely food to try and nothing too much trouble for the attentive and friendly staff....
This was our 32nd wedding anniversary, having held our wedding reception at Whatley all those years ago having been married at Castle Combe Church. We came over especially from our home in Portugal and we had the most wonderful evening, which brought many memories back. The food and ambience was just fabulous our South African waitress was brilliant and we loved the kitchen experience. Well done Whatley and well done Chef on your much deserved 2nd Star.
Incredibly expensive for tiny portions of over salted food. Very slow service.
A wonderful experience with outstanding food and great service! The dining room could do with a more inspirational decor (it's a bit of a let down after the characterful lounge area). But otherwise amazing! Great idea to include a visit to the kitchen!
We returned to The Dining Room to celebrate our dear friends recent wedding having celebrated a family 60th birthday last year. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. My husband eats at a lot of fine dining / Michelin Star restaurants and he rates you as top notch, above the rest. A very special experience, one that we will repeat when the next lovely celebration is in the offing.
Second time eating here and it was more spectacular than the last. Loved the nibbles in the kitchen and every course was spot on. Highly recommend the wine journey, wouldn’t have chosen any of them by myself and each one went so well with the dish.
A truly stunning dining experience with very special friends which will be treasured for many years. Simply incredible dishes, works of art in presentation and sublime flavours. A real credit to Niall and his expert team. We loved the chef's table experience and would highly recommend it to anyone.
I NEVER give top marks, but Whatley Maor is perfect......normally there is room for improvement. My one critical comment is that YOU add 10% service charge, as I informed the gentleman I paid......I hate presumptions of service......I would give more. Excellent.....the idea of going into the kitchen was excellent........hope we were not interfering with the kitchen. W. Hannigan
Had a lovely afternoon tea. The food and service was brilliant. We didn’t have our afternoon tea in the formal dining room as I brought my dog along. They accommodated for my dog very well by giving her a bowl of water and some treats. I would definitely back and would highly recommend
Over all a fantastic experience. It was amazing to be in the kitchen of a 2 Michelin Star chef. If i have one criticism it would be some of the waiting times for the food, some courses followed each other then others had a long wait, it was a little inconsistent. However, with such a fantastic experience it did taint the over all fantastic service.
We attended for an afternoon tea, this was amazing. The food tasted lovely and was presented beautifully. we were, however, let down slightly by the service. We were presented with a magnificent pot of tea (none of those tiny little pots so often given nowadays) but unfortunately no milk.... after waiting about 15 minutes I went to look for someone, the whole place was desserted..... on my return I met the waitress bringing our food selection who when told about the milk said it was down to new staff training. The manager did then return, seemed surprised and appologised. We enjoyed the rest of the experrience albeit with luke warm tea. The whole place is beautiful and very grand but the room where the afternoon tea was served seemed a bit imposing and we felt we had to whisper, maybe it would seem more relaxed in a different room. I am from a catering background and realise that the type of customer you are serving probably expect this formality and structure but do feel that tea could be less so.
A calm and elegant atmosphere was an ideal setting for a superb afternoon tea. We enjoyed a very pleasurable afternoon at Whatley Manor and would love to return for another visit. The staff were both friendly and efficient; nothing was too much trouble.
Very enjoyable afternoon, food very nice, and outside gardens beautiful and very well kept and delightful,we would consider another visit soon 😊
Really enjoyed the afternoon tea-service was great, food delicious and scones were to die for!!! Nothing was too much trouble. If I had one criticism it would be that I told them it was my mum’s birthday but they must have forgotten as they didn’t acknowledge it.
Excellent choice of food for a afternoon tea.
As always for the food was impeccable and the staff and service make the experience a joy. Thank you again - looking forward to the next time
Lovely setting, very comfortable lounge. Staff very friendly and efficient and the quality of the afternoon was excellent
Lovely venue ... and food was delicious. We were the only ones in the dining room (one couple arrived later) and it was very quiet and echo-y. Music would have been nice to give more of an atmosphere. One disappointing thing is that I had asked for the booking at 2 and was told it was full and 2.30/2.45 was the earliest we could book for afternoon tea. I specifically asked if we could come earlier should there be any cancellations. However on arriving we were the only people having afternoon tea and there was no one else in the dining room at that point. Was a bit disappointing (as then meant my spa treatment there was very rushed) and would have been nice if such requests could be accommodated next time.
We had a great time at afternoon tea celebrating my birthday. We were asked if we’d like to exchange any of the sandwiches, and we accepted as I don’t eat salmon. But unfortunately this didn’t happen, the standard tea came out. Also, we’d asked for a glass of water but it never came. And the service for the bill was quite slow. But the food was lovely and the house and gardens are beautiful.
