About The Dining Room
The dining room delights all senses and serves dinner Wednesday to Sunday.
Executive chef Niall Keating draws inspiration from many different cuisines, including Korean, Japanese and classic French. Resulting in menus that balance contemporary and classic styles in terms of ingredients and presentation.
Our Sommelier Dan Davies will expertly match wines to accompany each course should you wish.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 15.00 - 17.00
Whatley Manor has stepped up to become one of the most exciting dining experiences around. The tasting menu will explore new food combinations and will both amaze and tantalise your palate, Niall is truly up there as a grastromic leader. The food is complemented by excellent service, friendly and knowledgeable staff in a wonderful English manor setting. I can not recommend this enough.
Lovely tea, lovely setting, service excellent.
A very enjoyable stay. Beautiful spa and very relaxing treatments. Food on the tasting menu was excellent as was the service and atmosphere. Our Superior room was large tastefully decorated and very comfortable as was the on suite bathroom. Sue and Neil
We had a fabulous time on a Saturday afternoon for my friends 40th birthday. The only reason for not giving the full marks was that we each had a sandwich where the bread was crusty and aired and Hannah asked for Assam tea but got a shared pot of mine. It was quickly rectified. The servers were attentive and jolly. The fires were warming whilst it started snowing outside. We have been before and visited other similar hotels, spas and afternoon tea establishments. We decided this is our favourite by far. We will be back. Thank you for keeping up your high standards. X
The beef was served rare even though I requested well done I was asked if I required mustard /horseradish sauce 3 times and it eventually arrived just before I finished my meal when I arrived home I noticed on my bill we were charged for coffee as an extra even though it was included on the menu I telephoned your reception to query this and was politely informed it was not included even though your menu stated it was Never the less I have been refunded for this error I have visited Whatley Manor on many occasions and will continue to do so however on this occasion it was not up to the standard I expected On a positive note your staff were very polite and courteous
Thank you for a lovely, most enjoyable afternoon. Perfect for the occasion.
This was a birthday gift for my wife which we upgraded to bring along our young children to enjoy the experience. The whole experience was uncomfortable and over-priced. The seating was low (and tatty) making it difficult to eat and drink comfortably. We were positioned near the window which made half of the seating unusable as the low winter sun was in your eyes. The sandwiches were dry and unimaginative. There was not enough jam and cream for the scones. My children asked for lemonade and we were charged almost £10.00 for the privilege of two clear lemonades with nothing special about them. There were clearly no children's options and we felt they were unwelcome. The atmosphere was such that everytime the children spoke a little -we felt the need to quieten them. The sheer volume of staff was jaw dropping and I have never felt so uncomfortable as four staff stood close by to me in silence as I paid the ridiculous balance we were charged for the tea. This is the second time I have been to Whateley Manor - the last time for an over-priced evening meal. I will not be returning.
This was our second visit for afternoon tea and as a no meat/no dairy guest I was a little disappointed about my own selection. On my first visit I enjoyed a selection of cakes however this visit I had only one cake option ( a macaron) and instead 2 small dessert dishes. I did request a second scone but unfortunately there were no more available.
Very happy to see Whatley back in full operation. The new brassiere is a fitting, but necessary, development of the iconic original. The Green bar is finally back in use! It’s like seeing an old friend return. I look forward to seeing The Dinning Room in operation as it has already received its first major award. Lots of new blood in both kitchen and front of house but with some familiar faces to maintain continuity. I was delighted to be welcomed back in fine style.
Amazing experiance. This is he second time I’ve been for afternoon tea and everything was fantastic. It’s a beautiful place and felt very comfortable, looked after and would be back again and again. Thank you for such a tasty and welcoming afternoon!
Already sent glowing report to trip advisor, fantastic, memorable day from all six of us.
We went for dinner here for my husband's birthday, and I can honestly say it was absolutely fantastic. The food was divine (especially the cauliflower dish!) and the service was excellent - very friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend and look forward to our next visit!
Our second visit to Whatley Manor for afternoon tea and we enjoyed it immensely. Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, lovely sandwiches, scones and cakes so overall a delightful afternoon. Highly recommend and we will definitely return.
I was given a voucher for afternoon tea and spa evening from my colleagues,I would like to say that we had a beautiful afternoon and evening the tea was very delicious, staff were brilliant very polite and friendly ,the service was excellent .We will definitely be back .
We’ve been coming to Whatley Manor since 2011 and the food has always been great. The latest tasting menu has some fantastic dishes. Unfortunately the service doesn’t match the food and needs significantly sharpening up.
We had afternoon tea which was delicious. However it would have been nice if we had been offered more tea, and a second cup of coffee (one of us had tea, the other coffee). Apart from that everything was very good.
Had a wonderful afternoon tea with friends at Whatley Manor yesterday. The food was even better than I remember it being last time we came four years ago, the hotel is beautiful and we were lucky enough to be positioned directly in front of the fire. A real Christmasy treat, see you again next year.
We really enjoyed our visit. It was a particularly special time for the family and staff were very accommodating with the small children. We have visited regularly over the last 16years (including twice this week) and always enjoy our visits. The cakes and sandwiches were delicious, particularly the pumpkin? cake. A lovely touch to have a little sausage roll with a winter tea. One thing that has upset us in the last year or two is the need to give credit card details and we have seriously discussed never returning because of this. It seems an unnecessary breach of privacy and private data. We are not told how you store this, why you take it in the first place and what is done with the information afterwards. We are never asked for this at any other hotel or restaurant. I think you need to review this policy urgently. We used to come 6 or 7 times a year - now we only come once or twice.
As always great service, lovely friendly atmosphere always made to feel welcome.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at your hotel celebrating our 30th anniversary, having had our wedding reception at your hotel in 1987. The food was delicious and we much appreciated the explanation of each course. A memorable evening.
Always an enjoyable Afternoon Tea experience at Whatley Manor. Peaceful and relaxed surroundings, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Afternoon Tea selection was much improved especially liked the hot sausage roll offering. All cakes and desserts were delicious. Thank you Whatley Manor.
A bold decision to appoint a new head chef so different from Martin but it has worked spectacularly! The 12 course tasting menu is a feast of flavours with a focus on the pan-Asian. Standouts include the oyster accompanied with the spicy, cheesy cracker, the scallop, the pigeon breast with kohl rabbi... great that the head chef served our first course! Congratulations to the whole staff.
Lovely afternoon . The tea was fantastic we couldn't finish it all . Service was excellent . Such a warm and relaxing atmosphere . Will definitely visit again ,
Lovely meal. Can't fault the quality of the food or the service. But I would prefer to have an a la cartel option rather than being forced to have the 12 course menu. The 12 course menu takes too long to get through.
This was our first visit to Whatley Manor and how lovely it was too! Superb setting for our afternoon tea experience. Would highly recommend .
