My family had given me a voucher for two for my seventieth birthday which aneighbour and I used on Saturday afternoon. I knew it would be a good experience, but it exceeded my expectations!
Lovely meal, great friendly service, wonderful atmosphere with no distracting background music! We enjoyed our meal and would have preferred at least one ‘plain’ choice of vegetables as the deliciously complex flavours of the duck only needed a simple accompaniment. Thank you for a super evening. The best chips ever are available in the bar!
I had booked this as a birthday treat for my boyfriend and the service, atmosphere and food was perfection! We had the menu du jour where it was 3 meals for £29 which is incredible value for money when the food was that spectacular. Our main dish (sea trout) was one of the best meals I've ever had! I would happily go back and recommend it to anyone
We had a really excellent dinner on 5th November. All the dishes were beautifully presented and had wonderful flavours. Wine selection could be a little broader. Service was very good.
Just great to be at your place, everytime! Thx a lot Urs Zeder, Swiss Member
Four of us had a really lovely dinner last night, the food was excellent and whilst the front of house staff were helpful the team seemed to be understaffed and therefore overstretched and not as attentive as I would have expected for a meal of this type. It was noticeable enough to make me think twice about going back if this continues.
Excellent food and friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. The wines recommended to us were great.
We had a very enjoyable evening in the Hunter Room hosting 16 guests... Our only comment would be on the small portions that are offered on the fixed price menu. We would rather have paid a bit more and at least had vegetables to accompany these small portions or two more generous plates for the price. The cheese board was also meagre However we were well taken care of and all staff worked hard to make our evening a success.
Great service and lovely food which looked and tasted really good. Good value for money for lunch. Wine list a bit limited and pricey. Staff in the members area a bit mixed, one looked very fed up the other was in great form!
Excellent meal in a great setting and we really would recommend visiting. However, the room was somewhat cold and the first class staff were unable to light the gas fire. We would give the sweetcorn ice cream a miss, it's a strange savoury one as a sweet.
It was disappointing to hear that your dining room is going to become a members only facility next year. I would have loved to come back or recommend it to others, but don't love whiskey enough to become a member.
Food very good indeed. Knowledge and explanations from server exceptional. Some rare wines on the wine list but all wines very expensive.
Always our favourite place!
Excellent meal and superb service. We were really looked after by a very knowledgeable and helpful waitress/attendant.
Superb food. Unhurried,excellent service
The place is amazing, refined, top service, a slightly bigger portion would be good.
We have been coming for a number of years for a birthday celebration at this time of year. Food was excellent as always although notice now no small taster of whiskey with the 3 course menu or any petit fours with coffee. Service was slow although didn’t trouble us too much as prefer a leisurely evening to enjoy the food.
Very ood service at our dinner by a New Zealand born staff
Delightful evening! Would recommend 100% to any Scotch lover.
Excellent service, again a perfect experience
Wonderful , friendly staff. Service a bit slow at times but a wonderful experience for the 70th birthday. The £200 charge for the room was a bit steep given what we spent on wine and whisky but it was a special occasion .
On this, our second dinner at The Dining Room, we found the food to be very good. However, our experience was spoiled by a nearby table of three very loud young people. The four of us couldn't hear each other for the raucous laughter and noisy conversation that continued during our entire meal. Our waiter, whom we found to be condescending and unhelpful, didn't deem it necessary to ask the boisterous threesome to be more quiet. Also, we were surprised, and not in a good way, that we had to ask to taste the Scotch Malt Whisky Society's offerings rather than being asked if we'd like to.
I cannot fault it at all. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and the overall experience was superb.
The meal and whiskey was outstanding and you couldn’t ask for better service, all round amazing
As usual, amazing food and our waitress was lovely.
