About The Dining Room
The Dining Room at 28 Queen Street welcomes new faces and old friends with traditional fine dining paired with culinary invention, expertly prepared by our chef James Freeman. Enjoy distinguished flavours with personable service in our relaxed, refined Georgian dining room.
We brought friends who were up for the Festival to The Dining Room for lunch, and it was an oasis of tranquillity amid the Princes St/George St Festival madness. The food was wonderful and beautifully presented, and gave us the strength to tackle the next lot of shows.
The food was top class and as good as Michelin-starred restaurants I have visited. The number and quality of the amuse bouche was an excellent bonus. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very attentive and professional
Thank you so much for making us feel at home every time more, and particularly on our anniversary!
The staff we're lovely and intent on ensuring we had a pleasurable evening.
What an amazing restaurant! The staff and kitchen were wonderful, the menu interesting, and the whisky pairings spot on. A special thank you to Javier who, from our first email through to our getting in the taxi at the end of the meal, was friendly, incredibly helpful, engaged and engaging. He made us feel special, and we felt that way about him.
All good thanks. Well enjoyed.
This was a truly memorable experience! Even more so for the SMWS Members Room upstairs. We will forever cherish this visit!
Outstanding dining room service. Great and tasty food. A little harder to get service in upstairs bar, but overall experience was terrific.
Booked for Ruby Wedding Anniversary with a range of dietary needs including coeliac for which they both understood and managed beautifully without fuss! Food was excellent and the surprise tasters between courses added to the whole experience and were enjoyed by all.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening partaking of the Menu du Jour. Wonderful service really made us feel special.
I took a mixed group of whisky enthusiasts and novices to dine in the Library. The enthusiasts expressed delight at the unique experience and were appropriately appreciative of the whiskies on offer. We also found a malt that the novice enjoyed, and she was, if not 'converted' , at least open to the possibilities of malts being on her agenda in future
It was all excellent, Thank you very much for you hospitality - we will be back!
Just outstanding! Great food, wonderful atmosphere and really fantastic service. Best meal in Scotland!
Loved it, great food, service and smart yet comfortable surroundings. Will definitely be back!
Food was fantastic as always. Service was excellent and makes for a great evening
Great food, drinks and service. A must when you go to Edinburgh. For us it was the best evening during our Scotland trip.
Had an excellent meal at the Dining Room on a Saturday evening. Food and service were exceptional.
We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. A very good experience and would recommend the tasting and lunch.
As a first timer, I highly recommend the Taster Menu with Whisky pairings. This was a fantastic experience and offered the best way to enjoy many of SMWS's whisky offerings. The chef and aficionados did an excellent job with pairing tastes and smells. I will certainly be back!
Fabulous meal and great setting
We had a fantastic night on Saturday, only negative I could put is I thought the room charge was a bit dear, it turns a good night into an expensive night!! Staff are absolutely brilliant, great food, great whisky and wines, great service, ................. great night!! Thank you.
We had an excellent meal with efficient service in an atmospheric setting.
Service during the final courses was a little slow, and we waited nearly 15 minutes for the check after coffee. However, that will not stop me from returning, it was a fantastic experience.
