About The Devonshire Fell
Situated in the luxurious Devonshire Fell, our superb restaurant is the perfect spot for all occasions from casual gatherings with friends to family celebrations and parties. Our Yorkshire restaurant offers spectacular panoramic views of the Yorkshire Dales, Burnsall village and the River Wharfe. The Bar and Conservatory areas are the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch or as a more intimate private dining area where you can sit back and catch up with friends over some pre-dinner drinks.
Our excellent restaurant provides the finest dining options, and it is with the fabulous local ingredients available nearby that we are able to create the outstanding food that we are so renowned for. With such high quality produce on our doorstep from award winning artisan cheeses to locally shot game and seasonal legumes from our own kitchen garden, we remain uncompromising in our commitment to local, seasonal ingredients. Our battered Whitby haddock with hand cut chips is one of the Duke’s favourites who recently declared the dish “the best I’ve ever tasted”.

From the moment we got to reception to the end of our visit it was absolutely seamless. Can’t thank the wonderful team at Devonshire Fell for making my 30th birthday stay so brilliant. The hospitality and service was amazing from the team in, we were looked after my Otty who was nothing but a credit to the team. They know the menu inside out and we’re so helpful throughout the eve. Food was fantastic, I’m still amazed by their home made bread and their attention to detail in their country a la carte dishes. Worth every penny spent! We had a wonderful room with the Yorkshire views, which was lovely to wake up to in the daylight. Was so happy to be taken here. Will definitely not be a stranger to the Devonshire Fell hotel. Until the next time. Thank you ever so much.
A very enjoyable meal. Food excellent with friendly efficient service. Interesting menu with unusual combinations all well balanced.
Everything was perfect. We had an afternoon tea and the staff were amazing too! Thank you
Staff of the hotel are absolute stars! every single person knew everything about the menu and all hotels ins and outs. Very polite and were prepared to go extra mile for our needs. Could not praise them enough! well done! However, we have had a disappointing stay and will not be back. The bed in the room (6) is about 30+ years old, squeaky (every move: day or night! Makes a terrible loud noise) and unpleasant looking, in fact due to the non-straight even floor the bed was on a slope, and sleep on a slope - legs higher than head was not comfortable, had to sleep with heads on the foot board side. Contacted the hotel via Instagram and all they’ve said is… sorry Restaurant new menu was limited but we were not aware of it until the arrival. to have only 4 mains was a surprise as one was expecting some country meals offered i.e. burger or steak. Drinks were OK, pretty standard but we have opted out of drinking in general. Menu was handed out at the waiting was laminated but had a sticky mark from previous client’s hands, I guess. Breakfast was amazing, the choices presented were better than at dinner time, varied and plenty of it on the plate. Just one more point the pictures of the rooms on the hotels website different from what has been offered to us. And that room 6 has not been shown, therefore we were misled to believe the pictures are true and recent. Overall, we have not achieved what we have hoped for. We will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Our favourite place, we will be back.
Fantastic food, ambience & service, definitely recommend it. Obviously very COVID switched on with cleanliness and social distancing, felt very safe and at ease.
Wonderful meal thank you
We visit every year. Always have a lovely time.
We arrived and were immediately told we’d booked for 2 not 3. I showed them the email and it was for 3 as I had booked for 3. We were then seated at a table not set up despite me booking. It was quiet enough to have had that sorted. We were then given a dirty fork, luckily we didn’t need this and mentioned it to the waiter. When receiving menus, 2/3 were empty so we had to share the menu. Food was great. Service wasn’t.
Decor is a little tired
Attentive, polite, professional. Food and wine delightful. Tess, Rob, Otti, the whole team just great.
Very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Spotless and comfy room . Attentive and friendly staff. Found the dinner menu a little limited but enjoyed what we had. Had no worries at all about Covid infection, we felt very safe . A lovely break.
Food first class, service was warm, friendly and very professional. Nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent afternoon at the Devonshire Fell.
Staff so helpful and friendly. Food lovely.
A beautiful place set in beautiful surroundings with exquisite food .
We've been visiting the Fell for many years and this is the first 'Covid' visit. We were pleased to find that our experience was up to the usual high and can't wait to return.
We enjoyed an afternoon tea with you in lovely surroundings with excellent service. I think as far as value for money is considered afternoon tea for £37.00 for two is stretching it. A pity because everything else was good.
Covid19 has put most if not all of our 2020 retirement plans on hold. So, it was a real pleasure to have a Friday evening out enjoying a wonderful three course meal, some excellent wine and great service from all the staff. Our evening at the Fell was like an oasis of pleasure in the midst of a world turned upside down. Thank you
Staff have been charming and efficient. Food interesting and tasty.
Wonderful views, fantastic food and service
Booked for afternoon to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it was great to return to The Fell. Nikki was so attentive (as she was on our wedding day-great to see her and reminisce over photos with her) and made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious and we were able to enjoy the spectacular views from the conservatory. Slightly lacking an atmospheric buzz due to covid restrictions but still had a wonderful time none the less and it all felt very covid safe.
Loved the view from our table, the staff were lovely, the beef was tough and hard to cut up and chew. The desserts were lovely.
Fantastic food and service by everyone
