About The Devonshire Arms Brasserie
Our vibrant brasserie & bar has a riot of rich jewel colours and contemporary art, this together with the buzz of guests and locals makes it a really unique little spot.
Evan, Ruth and their friendly team are sure to make your visit memorable with a warm welcome for everyone. The Brasserie is the perfect place to catch up for lunch, or to mingle with friends for dinner and enjoy a much deserved glass of wine after a hectic day. All of the dishes on the menu are served in the Brasserie or – weather-permitting – on the terrace; a real sun-trap for those wishing to enjoy our impressive views over The Dales.
There is an impressive selection of wines, available by the glass or the bottle and designed to accommodate all budgets.
Your Bistro manager and young staff are excellent and chatty, food great value and fresh and tasty, only the rearrangement because of the virus has reduced the atmosphere of the main bar, that is something that can’t be helped. Will return.
Well done to all of your staff on keeping up the cheerful and friendly service despite the inconvenience of wearing masks. We had a very pleasant evening in the Brasserie which all felt very well set up for the current environment.
We had such a lovely welcome from all staff with our two young children, drinks outside in the tipi followed by dinner in the Brasserie, all were excellent. We are excited to return very soon. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Excellent food and great service. Thank you
My mother and I always enjoy lunch at The Brasserie. The staff yesterday were, as always, kind and helpful during these Covid times.
Lovely champagne and seafood terrace, food delicious with great service. Such a shame that people arrived and were smoking on the two tables to the side of the entrance of the terrace... us and a number of other tables under the canopy were downwind of their cigarette smoke...completely spoilt our afternoon I’m afraid so we soon departed. 😟
Lovely lunch amazing surroundings and great service . The young lady who looked after us did a great job .
Warm welcome, very good service, felt fully safe COVID wise. This was our second visit to the Laurent Perrier tent and we brought some friends who were so impressed that we'll all be back in a couple of weeks. Thanks to all at the Devonshire for such a pleasant evening.
Excellent - we enjoyed our first return visit to the Brasserie since lockdown commenced in March - we have missed being able to come to our favourite place. The food was excellent, a lovely menu to choose from. Impressed with how you are keeping your customers safe from the Corona virus. Quite a few new faces but they clearly have been well trained and know what they are doing. Missed seeing Ruth and he sister who presumably were on their day off. The £20 discount from the government scheme was most welcome as well. We will be back soon.
Hi, we enjoyed our visit again to the Devonshire, but unfortunately the food was not quite it's usual standard. My partners fish was not cooked properly and we had to send it back, the replacement was excellent. The staff did a brilliant job, especially Natalie I think was the ladies name. In light of Covid issues, we felt the set up was slightly awkward, and a little difficult to understand. People who arrived to eat or drink, some had pre booked , some not. Some washed their hands or used the excellent machine outside the entrance, some did not use either. A sign to use the toilets without entering the main bar area , would have been useful. We love the Devonshire and hope to be back soon. Regards Mr Bernie Howley
We appreciated that different measures were put in place due to Covid, but on arrival we were not greeted with a kind hello or welcome but simply “You have to put masks on in the communal areas.” The member of staff responsible on the door. We were informed of this prior to our visit, and appreciated the reminder but the tone and manner was not friendly. It was as if he took one look at our party of 2 adults and 2 children as a negative. On being seated our waiter/waitress was fine. We understood that the menu was a roared down menu “due to Covid” but the choices were quite limiting - almost as though the establishment had took advantage of the fact that the “Eat ou to help out” incentive had meant that the hotel could put on a cheaper menu even though the chancellor was supporting with 50% of the outlay. As a consequence we were not fussed on the choices, but made the best of it. The food was fine with 50% off, but we would not pay full price for it in future. The main reason we were disappointed was that we have eaten here before and found the food and service worth every penny. On this occasion the service and menu selection really let it down. The Devonshire Arms appears high end, but the service does not match - We have had impeccable service at high end restaurants and cheaper restaurants alike, both during Covid and prior to. The attention to detail and warm friendly staff just were not there. ((Except for a male waiter with a foreign accent - he was lovely) I think a bit of staff training is required, particularly with the management, that first and foremost the customer must feel comfortable and welcomed. This can still be done in a very safe way, as we have witnessed in other establishments.
Lovely food with great service. Appropriate response to Covid prevention.
Excellent service, food and drink
We were disappointed in the quality of the room. There was a mix up on the hotel’s part in regard to the booking. We then felt we drew the short straw on a room on the main road that was cramped and tired looking. Though a few members of staff provided good customer service, on the whole service was lacking. We gave feedback on checking out, but no action was taken and we have had no further contact despite saying we’d be happy to receive a follow up call. We genuinely feel the quality of service and room did not meet the reputation of the hotel or the amount paid.
Wonderful evening 😊
As we like value for money we thought the food was overpriced. Fortunately we were on the 50% deal so it didn’t hurt too much. I am not a big eater eater and ordered king prawn starter, when it arrived it actually made me laugh. It consisted of 3 tiny prawns and a little dish containing the dip. It tasted very nice but just not enough, unless you are a mouse. Maybe the portions had been reduced because of the offer ?
Excellent food and clearly COVID secure,
Lovely staff. Great atmosphere and excellent food. They remembered to put happy birthday on my daughter’s plate which was a nice touch. Would definitely come again and recommend.
Great food and drink in a wonderful location.
All the food was full of taste and of a really high standard of cuisine many thanks
Gorgeous setting in the Champagne and Seafood area, would definitely recommend!
We originally booked for 2 people on line but later tried to change to 4 without success. Having phoned the Hotel to request a table of 4 we were told it was not possible. On arrival we actually had a table for 4 which was too late as our friends had already made other arrangements. The wearing of face masks in the toilet when you are actually alone is complete nonsense.
Atmosphere in the restaurant was strange especially the lighting which when we arrived was far too bright .. the lighting was subsequently dimmed but the layout of the tables was not great (I expect due to covid), some room dividers might help. Food was good for the price paid, Ham hock was excellent (one exception were the chilli olives which had no chilli flavour just a couple of half chilis thrown in which looked like they had already been partly cut to garnish another dish - the olives were removed from the bill after I discretely mentioned it. We plan to return. thank you !
The food was lovely sadly not much atmosphere due the the current Covid conditions. Staff only young but did ok. Would def eat here again
First time back since lockdown, everything excellent will be back soon to try the seafood bar!
