About The Deacon
Modern British tavern on the square in the heart of Lytham. The Deacon offers both informal and formal dining with a truly British menu, in our conservatory, al fresco or in the bar. The world wide Gin list, a large selection of craft beer and wine list
Whilst we were seated very quickly we waited 15 minutes before we got any drinks service. That being said, a change to our party number was accommodated with ease and the food was excellent.
The food at The Deacon is always amazing, and great value when you consider the quality of the meal. Service is always friendly and attentive. The menu offers a really great range of options, and it is often a struggle to chose what to have, but i have never regretted my choice. Best fish pie i have ever had. I would recommend The Deacon to anybody
We will be back again soon!
I came to celebrate my birthday I have always enjoyed going to The Deacon. This our 1st meal out since lock down. The meal was quite ordinary I had sirloin steak my husband had fish and chips, disappointing when we spent over £60. None of the staff had PPE, I felt very uncomfortable and vulnerable with Covid around. The tables in the dining area were wiped but not the seats and I saw a family of 6 leave a table in the main indoor area and neither the table or any of the seats were wiped. Not good. I will not be back until hygiene improves. Sorry I was very disappointed.
Well organised bearing in mind the current restrictions. Feels like a safe environment to enjoy a meal out.
Great atmosphere and food
Food was excellent
Considering the circumstances, the service was second to none, always there when we needed a drink and the atmosphere was good to
Good service staff.
Lovely staff, made us feel very comfortable
Great service & good food!!
There are many errors on the menu, which the staff weren’t aware of.
Really enjoyable, food was amazing. Will definately return sometime soon. Glad we booked as it was comfortably busy for a wednesday afternoon Nice atmosphere.
Overall the wait time was ridiculous, there were just not enough staff on the floor, service was slow and inattentive. The food was OK although a little cold when it eventually came, we waited so long for it, no one came to see if we needed more drinks, deserts, or to clear the tables of glasses or plates.there was dust and dead flies on the window sill next to our table that indicated there had not been any deep cleaning. Overall it was poor value for money l and I wold not go there again in a hurry.
Very regular visits, never fails to impress. Always looked after. Staff are very friendly and always remember us.
Excellent food and service
The girl that served us was lovely, food was very nice
Paid £30 each for 2 fillet steaks asked for medium and they were well done. Told the waiter, heard nothing and then received £10 off the bill at the end. Disappointed seeing as though this was the main part of the meal. Not good enough!
Another great Sunday lunch 👍
All style minimal substance. The table was sticky, hate peeling the paper menu off the table and the food was greasy. Pleasant table service but I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend, disappointingly underwhelmed.
The food is very good. We did think that the staff would be wearing either face masks or visors (similar to other restaurants in Lytham) however neither were worn and our waitress did get close to our faces when delivering our food and when paying the food. We also found that several tables were very close together in the conservatory area. The music was also quite loud and some people in the bar area where loud, also around the table close to us had several people visit it, so there was no social distancing what so ever and no staff member intervened, which was disappointing, also at times the staff were slow to clean and sanatize the tables once vacated. However pre lock down this was one of our favs.
On previous visits it has been excellent and I know things are not ‘normal’ but Roast Beef had finished by 6.30 pm, food was over an hour wait, my husband had steak instead of Roast Beef but asked to swap to skinny fries instead of chips, that never happened. It was only OK, but will try again at some point.
