About The Deacon
Modern British tavern on the square in the heart of Lytham. The Deacon offers both informal and formal dining with a truly British menu, in our conservatory, al fresco or in the bar. The world wide Gin list, a large selection of craft beer and wine list
Definitely be back
Just love my Sunday roast at the Deacon! Service just a bit on the slow side yesterday But all in all a great visit Thanks
Fantastic evening. Food was beautiful and the service was 5*. We were just visiting the area, but will definitely visit next time we are in Lytham
The change in menu made a difference I didn’t feel like there was as much choice as when I last visited
Fantastic food, great atmosphere and value for money.
An excellent boxing day lunch with family enjoyed in Deacons. Food was delicious - view into Lytham square was lovely on Boxing day and the staff as always very pleasant and service excellent. Thanks to Leigh who every time we go in goes out of his way to be accommodating. Thank you
Had an excellent meal at The Deacon. Looking forward to returning in the near future. Very highly recommended.
The portion sizes were small. Children’s cookies and ice cream was very small. The staff should smile a bit more
Really enjoyable dining experience, nice surroundings, friendly staff and excellent food.
It was a very busy evening but the service was great and the food was excellent.
Seemed very chaotic where staff were concerned. Chef and Male member of staff arguing on the stairs at one point when I went to the loo 50 mins wait for food isn’t great when you have two hours to eat and leave Ceasar salad - didn’t come with the chicken asked for - dry - tasteless. Bit chunks of parmasan instead of shavings Beef sandwich - very dry. As if been constantly re heated. Children’s desert cookie and ice cream - not age appropriate. He even said. - god I should of ordered the adult one - smallest kids desert I’ve ever seen Plates left for 15 mins. Had to ask to be cleared Lovely place thought and setting. Shame I won’t go again.
9 of us dined from the Christmas menu - excellent service and the food was delicious! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the huge gin selection, making great recommendations. Loved the imaginative vegetarian options, particularly the hen’s egg. The carnivores raved about the lamb too! Great venue!
Lovely way to spend Christmas Eve. Friendly staff, despite how busy it was they had time to check everything was okay. A warm atmosphere too.
Booked a table at 7.15pm on Christmas Eve and has requested a booth if possible. On arrival we were told that a booth would be free in about 15mins if we’d like to wait for it, we agreed we would and got a drink from the bar. It was obviously busy and there was nowhere to sit whilst we had a drink, but that was fine as we knew it would be packed. After waiting for almost 40 minutes, we saw a party who arrived after us be seated at the vacant booth we thought would be ours. When we queried this with the manager he said it was due to the parties size. After almost an hour we were finally seated. We were so hungry by this time. The manager did kindly offer us a free round of drinks to compensate for our wait, which was appreciated. It took a little while for our order to be taken, but the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. One issue with a drink order being wrong, but it was quickly rectified. Unfortunately, due to the long delay, it then meant we missed our family engagement, as we were too late, which was frustrating. We completely accept that it will be busy everywhere on Christmas Eve, but do feel that more time should be allowed for bookings as the target of 90mins to turn tables round obviously wasn’t realistic.
Really good food great atmosphere
Staff were helpful and polite. Food was excellent and alterations/additions were easily accommodated. Service was perhaps slower than ideal but given how full the restaurant was and the time of year it would be unfair to penalise!
Very impressed with both the service, the setting and especially the food!
Love this place, posh pub grub
Lovely atmosphere, perhaps slightly too loud to talk, but a very enjoyable night.
Attentive staff. Atmosphere great. A good customer experience.
Decoration is very nice and good selection of food and drinks. Building has been lovingly restored
Great food in a lovely setting
Great service and amazing food as always
Very disappointing and shan't be visiting again unless The Deacon ups its game. Needs to decide if it is a restaurant or pub serving bar meals as unable to maintain high standards as it is.
