About The Dawnay Arms
The Dawnay Arms, built in 1779 is situated in the picturesque village of Newton on Ouse,at the gates to Beningbrough Hall. With a large garden to the rear, which stretches down to the river.
The Dawnay Arms has become our night out of choice and a place to entertain close friends. Top quality food and a relaxed atmosphere are the keynotes.
A lovely Sunday lunch.
Another great experience at this family run, friendly and welcoming gastro-pub. Imaginative cooking without being fussy. Well worth the cycle ride on a damp Sunday!
Eaten here many times and never been disappointed- always top quality food, great service - love it!
Excellent food and service
Always a treat to visit The Dawnay Arms. Their set lunch is excellent and it’s great that they offer it on a Saturday.
Lovely pub, great food and friendly staff. Abit more formal in the dining room or relaxed in the bar. Highly recommend
There was 4 adults and a baby, we went for Sunday lunch, we all had the beef which was perfect, pink with extra gravy, and lovely vegetables and roast potatoes. The sticky toffee with ice cream was also fabulous. We will definitely go back soon.
Raw roast beef, told 2 colleagues, standard “sorry about that” response
As usual Kerry, Martel and their staff gave us a wonderful party at the Dawnay. It was a very special evening for us and our 44 guests came from places far and wide. We all agreed that the buffet was superb and the level of service and professionalism would have been hard to beat anywhere. Kerry is always willing to go the extra mile for us and her help in all sorts of ways ie. giving out name badges for our friends as they came in and making sure her staff attended to every empty glass and bottle of wine or water was spot on. Everyone said what a wonderful party it was and how lucky we are to have the Dawnay Arms just at the end of our road.
Great food and excellent attentive service. A great find in lovely surroundings.
Lovely lunch, many thanks. We shall return.
Really enjoyed the fresh cooked delicious food. Super menu
Have eaten here several times & never had a bad meal
Warm cosy pub with lovely staff and great food.
Never disappointed - always a great experience.
As ever an excellent meal and friendly, attentive service.
Such a great place, great food, friendly staff, and a beautiful setting! Highly recommend!
Really enjoyable Sunday lunch. Our Geordie waiter made it all the more fun!
Great service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food!
We came in for steak as it was steak night Wednesday however after perusing the menus we both decided to order from the fixed price menu. We both had 3 courses and the dishes were exceptional and the portion sizes very generous (as it not always the case when ordering from fixed price menus at some other establishments!).Kerry and all the staff very welcoming and professional as usual. We had a lovely evening. Thanks.
Fantastic as always.
An excellent experience once again in Martel and Kerry’s atmospheric gastro-pub. Spoilt for choice on the menu. Great beers on tap, excellent wine list. Friendly and helpful service.
An excellent Sunday roast with Australian relatives who miss a good roast back home.
