Had our work Christmas Lunch here for 40 people. Had the Christmas Party Menu and couldn't fault it. Brilliant afternoon
Great food which is always nicely presented.
Another fantastic Sunday lunch in a warm and convivial atmosphere. Easy to book and made very welcome. Excellent beer and food completes the package.
Excellent birthday Sunday lunch. Only comment would be one of the waitresses could smile a little more😀
Lovely pub, friendly staff, great tasting food, will always return when we visit York.
Hi, We chose this venue to celebrate my birthday and it turned out a good choice to make. We have been here before so we knew what to expect. Good atmosphere, good service and most of all good food. A bit pricey but you do expect to pay extra for a good experience.
Always very enjoyable, Very friendly atmosphere & great food
An excellant menu and wonderful evening.
Excellent game night. The 5 courses were excellent, attentive service and good wine. The final course was very rich and would have benefited from the addition of a few raspberries to balance the sweetness.
Great food and very reasonably priced. Not many places as goos as this in the York area. Will certainly be back.
Excellent, as always.
My second visit within four weeks, what more can one say...? The slow cooked beef in beer and treacle is one of life's great pleasures... almost but not quite beaten by the sticky toffee pudding. Good beers as well!
Always feel welcome and food is delicious a great place to meet family and catch up over lunch
This is a great pub. The food is exceptional, and the staff are very welcoming and attentive. I would highly recommend this to everyone, it’s a Yorkshire gem.
our favourite place to come for a family meal out. Consistently good and always great new additions to the menu.
Great guest beers (always something different) and wine list. Excellent menu for carnivores and desserts super. Less good for vegetarians.
Nice setting, excellent food and good service overall. Took a little time from getting sat down to giving our drinks order, and no soft-drinks menu, but overall a great experience.
Wonderful food and ambience, menu changes regularly, there is a lot of choice and always cooked to a high standard. The dessert tasting platter is worth the visit alone. Windrum
As always we thoroughly enjoyed our food, which was delicious. We were made to feel extremely uncomfortable, however, as at 9.55 after paying the bill, we were told that the owner had ‘had enough’ and we were asked to leave. No explanation was given. It was a bizarre end to what had been a lovely evening. It felt to us, that having paid, we were no longer welcome.
We had a wonderful evening on Friday with our family at The Dawney Arms, it is the most perfect venue to make an evening out together extra special.
Lovely place for a meal - especially at sunset when you have brilliant views down to the river.
Very enjoyable. The main courses were delicious. The puddings were slightly disappointing. It’s very good value on the set menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and just special enough for a posh lunch. Overall a very nice experience. We’ll be back!
