About The Dawnay Arms
The Dawnay Arms, built in 1779 is situated in the picturesque village of Newton on Ouse,at the gates to Beningbrough Hall. With a large garden to the rear, which stretches down to the river.
Very enjoyable. The main courses were delicious. The puddings were slightly disappointing. It’s very good value on the set menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and just special enough for a posh lunch. Overall a very nice experience. We’ll be back!
I’ve recently posted a review on tripadvisor
Great food. Amazing service can not recommend highly enough
My partner and I were up North for a few days and found this gorgeous place literally a stones throw from where we were staying. We always go out for meals and this one was up there with some of the best places we have eaten. The food was delicious and fairly well priced. Beautiful location and we will definitely be returning!
We always return to Dawnay, it’s becomd a family favourite for a special occasion Sunday lunch after a long walk. We know we can eat in a relaxed and cosy setting in the bar with our wellies on abc the dog under the table.
Another great meal we all had a fab time many thanks to Kerry and staff Regards Jason Coleman
We love it - regulars and it’s never let us down!
A lovely meal in a beautiful setting. We again, really enjoyed the evening.
The Dawnay Arms is a fab place - great food, lovely atmosphere and brilliant service. A visit is highly recommended.
Excellent service as always and Staff always very accommodating. Thank you for letting us do our long row to your Dawnay Arms. It was a lovely row and River Ouse was perfect rowing conditions this year. You catered for our 19 members very efficiently to get us back onto water within an hour turnaround. Good food, good country atmosphere.
very good service, which followed up my booking comments about dietary requirements.
Great night! Definitely recommend ‘Steak Night’ on Wednesday.
Food was exceptional - enjoyed by all of us. Good/friendly service too. Thank you.
Very enjoyable experience, thank you for providing a mooring
Great overall. We really enjoyed the evening. Would be nice to have a few vegetables Included with the main course.
Thank you. We had a lovely meal which we and our visitors thoroughly enjoyed.
Such a lovely place to eat. We are so lucky it is right on our doorstep. Kerry and her team are wonderful. Thoroughly recommend this place!
Your garden is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed sunday afternoon. The cod was lovely, and my husband thought the burger was divine. The staff were really attentive. We'll be back!!
Lovely food and setting, really enjoyed it. Felt like they were a little understaffed at times but worked for us as we enjoyed a casual Sunday lunch
Such lovely friendly staff, a stunning setting on the outside terrace, beautiful decor inside. Sunday lunch was to die for! I would highly recommend this outstanding establishment!
First time dining outside on the terrace on a beautiful day.
My wife said her beef was superb. In fact the slice resembled steak rather than being carved from a joint. Mine and Alison's calves liver was another triumph since it was cooked to perfection since it was soft as butter - not easy to do with liver. The mushroom soup as my wife pointed out was cooked using homemade beef stock as was the gravy for beef and liver and it shows. Adrienne and Richard both adored the knickerbocker glories and Alison loved the combination of flavours in the creme brule. The coffee was excellent. My only reservation is that your questionnaire requires me to write American: 'flavors' instead of 'flavours'! They run everything else, I don't see why they should run our spelling.
Excellent service as always, delicious Sunday roast, would highly recommend
The best roast beef I’ve ever had!
