About The Culpeper
So this is exactly what you think of when you think of The Culpeper. It’s light and bright until night and then it’s bright and light until later.
It’s about relaxing; hanging with a bunch of friends or the good crew from the office. It’s ‘grab some lunch’ but with a hazy plan about what’s on this afternoon; it’s a cocktail or two after five and a totally easy dinner kind of thing.
We’re right on the water’s edge so you know it’s going to be ‘at ease’. Our owner thinks we’re here to celebrate food, fun and friends; we think we’re here for a good time (and a long time)…
Remember every good time is made up of moments. At The Culpeper, making the most of the moment is up to you.
Great vibe and food!
Gorgeous Christmas Lunch right on the water. Really appreciated the great service we had from Sami our waitress & all the recommendations were spot on! Pimm's jug was a standout & the hush puppies, don't take the Banoffee off the menu - its magic & a good one is hard to find. I loved that unlike almost every area in the Viaduct with its thumping music that you have to shout over, your music is exactly at the right level for conversation. We have left places before after a few minutes of shouting over the music & staff that won't turn it down, so appreciate that you guys get it at the right level for the guest's enjoyment. We'll keep returning again & again. Merry Christmas!
Fantastic server , fantastic food for a fantastic price ! Every time a good time at The Culpepper... only thing to recommend is to sort out the toilets. They were out of order so had to use the other bar which had a huge queue
Culpepper is now my favourite restaurant in Auckland. Best food and service
Great food and lovely to be able to sit out in the sun next to the water.
Service was abmisal on a quiet Monday. We had to clear our own plates off teh table and when we ordered our food (which was just meat) the waitress didnt ask if we wanted any sides. That was a shame as the fries we added on after the main arrived were the best bit. The ribs were drier than the sahra and the steak was bland. To add insult to injury the charge of $22 for a gin & tonic cemented the fact that we will not be back! Shame as I expected better of a Nourish group restaurant.
Service was friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the food we ordered. Would come back again.
It was a very busy night being it’s Xmas functions on as well. Overall the lovely young Filipino lady attending to our table was superb and so were the meals, it was a wonderful night dining at Culpeper’s for my birthday. Thank you 🤗.
The passion for gin cocktail one of the best I have had!!
Our first time dining here and we will be back. Thanks
Really warm attentive service, and great food (maybe the best salmon I've had) . Fresh delicious flavours, right on the water - perfect
We had a fantastic time. The table reserved out front was lovely and when it rained the staff sorted that quickly without asking. Will defiantly be back thank you so much
Food was amazing. Staff were very friendly
Always love the delicious and yummy food, will come back again thanks very much Culpeper
Great food and great location - definitely going back!
The burger I had was very tasty and the cider was yum. Burger did only come with 5 (large) fries so not the largest meal for money, but still good. The restaurant wasn't too loud either and was a good volume to have a conversation in. Our waiter was fantastic too :)
We hadn't been to the Culpeper before but we will be back. The service was friendly & professional. We had a great table overlooking the Maritime Museum too. However the best part was the food, we ordered the ribs & a large prawn salad, both were cooked to perfection...
Disappointed with the cocktail - order mojito the punch is not there. Serve with mint which is wither/brown ? Order the shared platter for 2 ...the belly pork is tough, pulled pork, spare ribs- all of them need more seasoning and the bread are dry. Salmon - medium sliced and a little fishy side.Salad and chips are good. Great service. note: table returned 2 hours.
Great service and delicious food in a lovely setting down by the water!
Yesterday was my boyfriend’s birthday and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to take him to The Culpepper. I had been investigating a few restaraunts to take him to for his birthday, but after reading some stellar reviews on Zomato and seeing the menu I knew it was meant to be. Last night the service was excellent, we were seated promptly and the waiter was extremely vigilant whilst not suffocating us. We ordered the pimms jug to share and as someone who isn’t a fan of drinking I absolutely loved it. The presentation was just as good as the drink itself. We also ordered the culpepper board to share as well as the Mac and cheese and holy wow everything was absolutely flavour packed and delicious. The brioche buns (were they brioche?) were an absolute standout to me and I could’ve happily eaten a dozen. Thank you for providing such quality food, service and atmosphere last night. I will most definitely be returning in the near future with both my boyfriend as well as other people.
The food and service was top-notch! Great to visit with a family/friend especially on a good sunny day!
We ordered the ribs, some were a bit dry but still tasty, first order was quick thereafter there appeared to be some challenges in the kitchen as there was quite a wait between each delivery, staff were friendly and attentive though, kept us informed and apologised for the kitchen delays.
First time dining at the culpeper. the staff had really good attitudes and enthusiasm. Even taking many opportunities to interact with our almost 1 yr old. The food was mostly delicious (the brisket - amazing) the pork ribs were a bit chewy rather than falling off the bone like most places but the delicious flavour definitely made up for it. Yum! Atmosphere was great and the view is pretty good!! Thank you!
Only people in the restaurant, forgot 2 items on our order, didn’t seem bothered by their mistake while people in our party of 7 sat with no food & others was getting cold. Desserts took ages to come out in an empty restaurant. Staff seemed more intent on talking to each other then providing service. $25 steak sandwich not worth the money & should be called meat scraps in a roll with 3 chips. Don’t eat here if you’re hungry!
