About The Culpeper
So this is exactly what you think of when you think of The Culpeper. It’s light and bright until night and then it’s bright and light until later.
It’s about relaxing; hanging with a bunch of friends or the good crew from the office. It’s ‘grab some lunch’ but with a hazy plan about what’s on this afternoon; it’s a cocktail or two after five and a totally easy dinner kind of thing.
We’re right on the water’s edge so you know it’s going to be ‘at ease’. Our owner thinks we’re here to celebrate food, fun and friends; we think we’re here for a good time (and a long time)…
Remember every good time is made up of moments. At The Culpeper, making the most of the moment is up to you.
Food was excellent! Really enjoyed the skirt steak and the Mac and cheese particularly. Service could have been better, staff were not very attentive and rarely checked on us. Overall had a good time and would go back.
We arrived half hour before our booking but were told happy hour drinks were not available (as stated when I was booking) with first table bookings. Does this mean that if I show up but not mention my booking, I can get happy hour drinks, pay for them and then sit down for my booked dinner? Not sure about the logic behind this.
Service was great, food was a bit of a let down
The atmosphere and service was very good. We were a group of 3 and all of enjoyed our meal. The views over the harbour was great. We'd happily go back, good food, good service and great views!
Great food - great vibe!
Was a lovely lunch with the family. Great food and great service, thanks for a lovely experience 😊
The wait staff were very attentive. The menu has lots of nice things to choose from. My husband had the beef brisket and really enjoyed it. I had the brisket tacos and mac and cheese. The tacos were tasty but the tortillas were a bit burnt tasting. The mac and cheese was nice and creamy but the crumb topping and ham was a bit chewy. Portions were on the smaller side.
Excellent place, great food and staff.
Food had a wow factor, the service was outstanding
The best happy hour in the CBD
Staff very good
Tacos were good, chicken wings were very tasty but weren't cooked enough to come away from the bone a bit chewy, salmon was superb, pork belly not so good skin was chewy no crackle at all, cookie dessert and the manner in which the managment and bartender went out of their way for me was outstanding. In all we had a great night. Thank you
Awesome guys, thanks heaps!!
I used to love Culpeper however for my last dining I find everything just too oily and salty. We ordered Prawn and Okra Hush Puppies (oily), Smoked Brisket Tacos (the brisket was hard, oily and salty), Korean Spiced Crispy Chicken Wings and Beer Battered Fries (salty). Also,I am pregnant and I was asking the waitress if she can ask the chef if there are any substitute for the aioli and mayo that is part of the hush puppies and chips, she looked confuse and she went back and forth to us several times. At the end they only gave me tomato sauce. it is a let down from my previous dining experience with the restaurant.
The Korean fried chicken wings and roasted cauliflower were nice. Smoked brisket and roast pork were not seasoned well. The menu promised crispy pork skin, it was not crispy it was very soft. There were three pieces of pork, most of each piece was just fat, there was hardly any meat. The smoked brisket was a little dry and not very tasty. The service was decent, staff were friendly. As we booked with first table the price was good but if I had to pay full price for the quality of our mains I would have been quite unhappy.
Great spot on a Sunday evening - watched the sun set from the deck.
Service was very slow. First drinks took 30 min to arrive, then they didn't have the oysters or donuts and did not communicate this when handing us the menus. Ribs were full of too much sauce and it was a bit sickening and overpowering. When main courses arrived the waiter just placed them on the table as if we were going to share, even though we each ordered separate main courses. No water replacement unless we asked for it, then at 11pm they flicked the lights off almost as a sign for us to leave. Not sure if it was intentional or not. Anyway, we barely go to town for dinner, so needless to say, it wasn't worth the trip. My husband really liked the skirt steak though.
Food was good but nothing to rave about. Service was fair, not attentive nor friendly. Just average service from any other food establishment.
Really enjoyed the oysters at your lunch on the 30th March
Great Food & amazing service!!
Excellent service with a smile. Shellfish bowl nice with a lovely broth.
The live DJ music on Friday afternoon was too loud, I lost my voice after 3 hours there trying to talk to my friends. While I think the music is a good idea, the volume and the way the speakers placed can be reconsidered.
Awesome service, great food and ambiance. We will be back xx
Had a great time at the oyster festival at the Culpeper today. Myself and several companions dined with our children, we were made to feel very welcome while our children ran riot. Great effort from the front of house team. Will definitely be back!!
