About The Crown Inn - Reading
The Crown is a charming 18th century Inn that offers a warm welcome, excellent food plus superb accommodation and plenty of space for parties, meetings and weddings.
Set in the picturesque hamlet of Playhatch. Close to Reading, Henley-on-Thames and Maidenhead, The Crown is the perfect place to get away from it all.
Lovely dinner lovely place!
Delicious food although we'll order 'starter' salads next time as our portions were so generous! The staff were very helpful and attentive. We shall come again
Staff, very friendly and very helpful. One downside was that they didn't have any Gordon's Gin, which they had run out of. Breakfast was lovely too!
We have just returned from a two night bed, breakfast & evening meal stay at The Crown and could not fault a thing. The room was large and beautifully decorated with all the amenities you need. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and the pavlova 😋 Staff were very friendly and extremely attentive especially the lady who served the breakfast. Excellent value and we will certainly be back, thanks
Fantastic food and great staff, can’t wait to go again!
Really friendly waiting staff and we really enjoyed our car very lunch.
The whole party were very impressed by how lovely the Library was and how attentive the staff were. The food was delicious and we would all come back again.
Two simple starters, eg garlic bread, and steak and chips for two with one side...£80...what a joke! Never again. I get better value in St James’s London SW1 once a week. The Crown Inn is a the crown joke.
Cannot praise too highly. Food, Service & Hospitality all excellent. We had a most enjoyable time and will certainly visit again.
Excellent value for money
Very enjoyable meal
Lovely atmosphere and the food was divine!
Good pub lunch. Family orientated. Good level of service.
As a table of 7, we a had a fabulous two course meal. Not all the party had drinks. The food was amazing very tasty and plentiful. The price was quite expensive but for a special treat it was fine. I would recommend it
Lovely staff. Still have warm white wine and cold overpriced food
Superb food and accomodation
Recommended, worth a return visit.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly service, Good choice of drinks and food is lovely. The lady serving us was very friendly but not able ti answer wuestions about food (ingredients), she however did ask someone else whi could answer our wuestions. All jn all very enjoyable evening, thanks.
Amazing stay and lovely ambience. Will definitely return.
The Sunday roast was very good. There was a minor blip with one batch of Yorkshire puddings which were partly cold, but otherwise all good. The puddings were excellent. Thank you.
Really lovely food. Drinks came out a little slow likely due to the size of our party, but other than that it was fantastic! Thanks so much!!
Excellent food and service as always.
Excellent Sunday roast
Fantastic food, friendly, helpful, professional staff
We dined twice in the evening whilst staying at The Crown Inn. Our first experience on the Friday was fabulous. The service was brilliant and the food was delicious. Our second experience on the Saturday however was a little disappointing. One of our party had the sirloin steak which was the smallest and thinnest piece of steak we had ever seen! It was also overcooked and tough, making it inedible. No one came to our table to ask if the food was okay and the staff were extremely busy and diffciult to catch whilst passing. Our party were unfortunately in the WC or at the bar when our table was cleared so we were unable to give feedback at the time. We also had two breakfasts here though which were absolutely delicious! The breakfast menu is inventive and original and quite honestly, the nicest breakfast we have ever eaten. The service at breakfast was also fantastic. On balance therefore, I have scored the food 4 stars.
