About The Crown Inn - Reading
The Crown is a charming 18th century Inn that offers a warm welcome, excellent food plus superb accommodation and plenty of space for parties, meetings and weddings.
Set in the picturesque hamlet of Playhatch. Close to Reading, Henley-on-Thames and Maidenhead, The Crown is the perfect place to get away from it all.
Salmon dish disappointing. Chicken dish good. Would like more choice of deserts ( eg fresh fruit please). Fish and chips available in the evenings please
Wonderful place. Always recommend people go to you. Run by She's...what can I say! :-) Thank you Cathy
We had a most enjoyable, evening, good food and attentive service even though it was really busy.
Great service and the food was on point. Really nice mid week meal! Pork and Chorizo pie of the day was lovely and staff catered to my wife's dietary requirements excellently. Would definitely recommend.
For someone with a larger appetite the portion sizes were a bit small. The fish platter was amazing. When booking, I mentioned it was for a special occasion and we were greeted with a glass of fizz which was a lovely gesture.
Wine list is somewhat limited.
Wonderful location, the ambience is fantastic, the staff are very polite, attentive and courteous. We had a wonderful evening and I look forward to my next visit.
Great food, polite staff, great service. We’ve been back many times as a family and will certainly be returning again soon.
A delicious meal and really excellent service - despite it being a busy Sunday.
The room to the right of the entrance was quite cold for my wife! We were sat by the chimney, Just something to be aware of. Obviously I didn’t feel a thing! Great place and love the food. Service by our waiter was excellent
Really enjoyed a peaceful tasty lunch at The Crown. Would recommend to friends and family! Thsnk you.
Couldn’t fault anything and we can’t wait to come back x
Poor music for a sunday lunch
I rated this on my last visit for Sunday roast I am a regular to The Crown, especially Sunday. Sadly although all the meats were excellent, all the veg were virtually raw. I don’t like overlooked, but the cauliflower in particular was raw. Also I paid in cash,my change did not appear, asking my waitress she said I didn’t think you wanted change ? I always willing tip,but to presume was unacceptable. As a regular customer I’m hoping this is a one off
Superb breakfast at The Crown.... always excellent food and service there.
Enjoyable meal. Kind staff. Good food.
Lovely meal, lovely service.
I do actually recommend the crown and brought my parents to the carvery (Sunday) having learnt they'd never been. One minor issue was the roast potatoes had changed and were a big disappointment and the cut off the gammon was a bit fatty. Bring back the old roast potatoes and its be happy. Still a good pub/restaurant though.
We have always received a warm welcome from all the staff at the Crown, lunch time or evening. We would not hesitate to recommend it to any of our friend or family.
excellent evening at the Crown at Playhatch for a 12th Birthday dinner. Lovely food and staff were pleasant and efficient.
Unfortunately our table was in the firing line for a cold blast every time the door was opened which made less comfortable than it could have been. Food was very good but was a little disappointed with the choice offered for vegetarians.
Always a pleasure. Booked by phone which was easy. Staff great, food great too!
Disappointing. Mediocre food. Grubby table etc and I don't mean in a shabby chic way. Shame, but I wouldn't go back or recommend.
Food, service and environment is lovely BUT the garden was an absolute disgrace, no excuse for filthy dirty tables, full of empty dirty glasses, ashtrays and filthy garden floor area, had it been a nice eve there is no way we would have sat in the garden.
