About The Crown Hotel
The 'Red Cow' @ the Crown is our wonderful pub/restaurant and it proudly boasts delicious KNEAD dishes with ingredients sourced from our Tallington farm just six miles down the road, or elsewhere locally whenever possible.
The décor has picked up the signature KNEAD attention to detail – with quirky features appearing on every wall and in every room. And, of course, the Crown Hotel serves up a fantastic selection of ales, wine, cocktails and more.
We had no complaints with food at all, it was all really lovely. It was the service that let it down for us. The service was quite slow and the gentleman who serviced us wasn’t friendly at all and came across quite rude at times during the visit.
Friendly Staff, great food. Very nice x
Once again fabulous service, food and drink. There’s nowhere we’d rather be!
We had a problem with the shower facility in Room 2 but this was quickly resolved. Lovely friendly staff, great breakfast but come with an appetite as the portions are huge!
Fantastic food. Absolutely delicious. Thank you.
we booked a meeting room for the day. Booking was easy staff we very friendly and helpful. good facilities. we will definitely be back
A perfect afternoon spent at the Crown for a valued colleagues retirement party. The food and service were exceptional and we were made to feel very valued clients. A great time was enjoyed by all - thank you.
All excellent as usual.
We held a family party at The Crown (my parents-in-laws' Golden Wedding anniversary) and it was fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient, with great attention to detail and a real sense of how important the occasion was. We had use of a private room and it was the perfect place for a mixed group ranging in age from four to 81 - relaxed and very comfortable. Excellent food with a good range of choices and time to chat and catch up without feeling hurried. Definitely recommended!
Excellent service and value for money.
Excellent service and meal.
Nice location. Fresh, well presented food but small portions compared to other providers. Service was warm and welcoming.
Great venue, service and food!
5 * thanks
The meeting was great and met our needs perfectly. Trying to get the wifi password proved difficult and we had to ask 3 times. Maybe something in the room to show what wifi to connect to and the password for this would be useful. Ordered and paid in advance for tea/coffee/hot chocolate on arrival and again mid morning. Had to chase the arrival drinks and no mid-morning arrived. Only tea and coffee were provided. Would be nice to see flavoured teas and sachets of hot chocolate.
We had a beautiful room for a baby shower which went very well The staff were very good and made sure we were all happy all day
Been before and never been disappointed. One of my favourite places to dine.
Food was awful. Tempura prawns clearly cooked from frozen as they were really mushy. Salmon fillet over cooked and really dry - 1 piece of broccoli also very overcooked! Fillet steak chewy - table next to ours sent the waitress to check with the chef that this was actually fillet as they couldn't believe the poor quality either. Waitress came back and yes yes it was and was unable to offer anything other suggestions. The food here used to be really good, but we won't be coming back. £100 for 2 of us was very poor value. Tables for 2 are so close together you can't talk privately.
What has happened to the Crown menu. Completely different from last year. Unfortunately not a change for the best.
Fantastic service. Delicious food. My steak was cooked to perfection and all the accompanying sides were flavoursome too. The desserts were so good. I had the millionaires cheesecake; it was fantastic without being too rich. It’s not the first time I’ve eaten here and it certainly won’t be the last.
It’s great to eat somewhere that contemplates the customers needs i.e. instead of waiting to be asked for table water, you just bring along a bottle with glasses. The little touches make the difference and, as well as this, all of your staff are friendly, welcoming and professional. We just can’t help keep coming back to you for breakfast, coffee and dinner. You’re our favourite! 🙂
Highly accommodating and the food was fantastic
As always we were received warmly and shown to our table. We were shown to a table in the corner in the back room which was unbearably hot. I should have asked to move to be honest as the front part of the restaurant was much cooler. Service was OK. Our orders were taken promptly but there was no attempt at conversation and when my friend was deliberating between two dishes our server had nothing positive to say about either and came across miserable. My wine wasn't very cold, which was disappointing but it was a warm day. Food was served in good time but the young man brought out the 'two chicken' they looked nothing like what we had ordered, he returned with the two chicken and the previous 'chicken' turned out to be the roast pork but minus the crackling so we then had to request that. It was brought out but with no apology. The food was nice but not as good as usual. It won't put me off visiting again as the food is usually much better and the service usually great. I think a mixture of young inexperienced staff member and a staff member having a miserable day made this below the usual high standard.
We have stayed at the Crown Hotel many times and love the hotel, unfortunately our stay on Sunday evening was not up to its usual standard. Room was great, however we were not aware that the meal in the restaurant was so limited on a Sunday, we were looking forward to the full menu as advertised. We enjoyed breakfast, however, it was one of the most uncomfortable meals we have had at the hotel. We were put on a table that had hardly any movement for your arms, least of all, room to get out of our seats without worry that we would 'knock' someone next to us. It felt like we were in a feeding block with no room to move and no ability to talk. Even the waiter/waitress were finding it hard to serve due to lack of space. We were not the only ones who felt like this, as due to the closeness of everyone we heard the same comments being made. Can understand it was a busy time at Bank Holiday, but why put everyone on top of each other to save space?
