Very good afternoon..good service and good management
Excellent service and food
We had a lovely evening. Food was brilliant. Would definitely recommend.
Booked for my mother in laws 90th, everything went brilliantly, can't thank you enough.
Lovely room, great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food. This was a surprise Birthday treat from my husband, following a lunch at The Crown in the summer when I mentioned I would like to stay there some time. I was absolutely thrilled and my experience totally lived up to my expectations. Thank you for such a brilliant time.
Lovely food, great staff, amazing atmosphere!
I have emailed last night to say how disappointing this evening was I booked a table of 10 for a Christmas night the food was excellent the service was fantastic however our party left most of them at 10.15 as the band was so bad heavy rock music was awful what happened to the Christmas atmosphere when I spoke to the manager to complain he said we have had so many complaints and lots of people have left this is not what I expected for the crown party nights truly shocking
Having booked for two nights with evening meals, although forewarned about entertainment we weren’t forewarned that we would be sat in the bar. The bar manager was sympathetic but we would have eaten out if we’d known. To add insult to injury our room was above the restaurant room which meant we were kept awake by tables and chairs being moved. This was after we had been kept awake by noisy guests. The television was badly tuned and not working properly and there was no wi-fi in our room! All in all a rather disappointing experience. However, excellent staff and good food compensated a little. I doubt if we will return.
Gorgeous Sunday lunch
Sadly a disappointing visit to The Crown for brunch. Although the restaurant was quiet we waited a long time to order and then a long time again before our food arrived unfortunately eggs were over cooked, sausage and bacon were cooked but only just warm. I was surprised as The Crown was recommended by another local business.
I would definitely recommend The Crown for group bookings, the organisation was great and the service was great for a group of 15. The one thing I would suggest is the table layout. We were put on a table in an L shape which made it difficult to engage in conversation with the whole table. Other than that, everything was perfect and I would most definitely recommend to others.

The booking process wasnt great. I booked many weeks in advance & was sent the festive menu but it didnt say anywhere on there that the choices & deposit have to be made by 2 weeks before the meal at the latest. I didnt receive any further contact or reminders before the meal but just happened to wonder about 12 days before whether i should send in choices. I emailed & was told yes please supply choices. So I gathered choices & phoned to give them & pay £10 deposit. The lady on the phone said she couldn't help with either it would have to be the Events Team but they only work til 5pm. I had phoned at 5.15pm! Seems strange that you cant take payments after 5pm etc as many people cant phone til after work. I subsequently emailed our menu choices that eve. The reply next day said as we were within the 2 week period the full amount was due & just the deposit wasnt acceptable. (As i said - I hadnt been aware of this) So I phoned at 7.30a.m the next day (having contacted my friends again to transfer me the balance) & paid in full. It was disappointing that you couldnt book just 2 courses but had to book 3 even if you didnt want a desert. On the night itself when we arrived we asked a gentleman who worked there if we could speak to him about our reservation & he replied 'if you like' & seemed very off! Almost offended that we'd asked him. We hadnt been there before & didnt know whom to speak to when we arrived. He somewhat reluctantly showed us to our table & I asked for an orange juice which still didnt show up until some 10 minutes later when I mentioned it to our waitress. Having said all that the young girl who looked after us was lovely. Polite, warm & friendly. She also found us another table a bit later as a very rowdy group of men nearby were making conversation very difficult. The food was very nice indeed & the Christmas pud chocolate brownie divine! So in summary -an uncustomer friendly booking process. An unfriendly reception on arrival. But a very nice meal & lovely service from our waitress.
Last night we visited you to celebrate our anniversary, sadly our night was not what we had hoped it would be. Shortly after we sat down at our table a very loud group of five men sat down near us. They proceeded to not only be loud, but they were swearing a lot which was unpleasant and they were making numerous inappropriate comments to their waitress. We complained, as did the table next to us who were moved. What’s annoyed me more is that no one from The Crown was brave enough to ask them to leave. This would have been the right thing to do but sadly that didn’t happen, instead you let them ruin everyone else’s night.
Menu was limited, and the portion sizes were small, however the meal itself was quite tasty
excellent food as usual
TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED seeing the menu.....there were no main courses that I liked the look of and had to order 2 starters, one as a main course! Fine dining it is NOT.....the menu would have been ok for the bar, but not the (overlit incidentally) restaurant! The food we did eat was cooked well but it was so boring.
A wonderful overnight stay spent at The Crown to celebrate birthdays. The accommodation, the service, the food, and the staff were all first class. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
Thanks for a lovely laid back afternoon at the Crown for my sisters baby shower. We had afternoon Tea. Food was fantastic. (Huge scones that went down very well with the party) Hotel decorated to a high standard & great to have our own space (which they were happy for us to decorate) Super friendly & helpful staff from the moment I enquired about the space. I'd definitely recommend if you're in Woodbridge or looking for a special occasion to treat friends or family.
Beautiful place, amazing rooms and great menu. Was a shame the chicken on the risotto was pretty dry and the mains weren’t cleared. We left the table to move to a sofa after 20 minutes and no desserts were offered. Otherwise great stay.
We had a fantastic meal to celebrate my fathers birthday using a private dining space. It worked perfectly. The staff were also extremely helpful with enabling my mum to enter using her motorised wheelchair. Thank you.
Lovely meal but wines by glass disappointed.
Wines should be better though.
Everything was absolutely lovely. The staff were very helpful. We felt very comfortable.
For a supposedly good quality restaurant that boasts sourcing locally, being served butter pats from Ireland didn’t set a very good standard. The waiting staff were willing but poorly trained. Starters were good, bavette steak also good. The sea bass fillet was unfortunately served in a bowl, rather than a plate, so ended up as a mush with too much ‘crushed’ potato and some tasty bacon and cabbage. Wagon wheel was an enjoyable, quirky desert. There is some competent cooking, but it is let down by poor execution and untrained staff.
