About The Crown at Woodbridge
2AA Rosette restaurant and recommended in the Michelin Guide, situated at the top of The Thoroughfare.
Great British menus
We take great pride in making the most of Suffolk’s natural larder to create Great British menus with a difference. Utilising only the freshest, in-season, local produce, our food is a celebration of beautiful ingredients brought to life in our own unique style.
The lesser mark ofr atmosphere is not really an adverse comment - it is just strange at the moment with facemasks etc but there is nothing to be done about that.
The most wonderful staff who are all exceptionally helpful, cheerful and always ready to achieve excellent standards of service and really first class food. Superbly managed by Laura who is respected by the staff. Probably the best hotel we have stayed in. Well done
The ‘little lad’ Toby was very helpful!
We had afternoon tea for 8 of us on Saturday staff were very friendly and kept us topped up with drinks . It was the best afternoon tea we have had in Suffolk . Would highly recommend food was fresh and the brownies were to die for . Thank you to all the staff Excellent Service 👍👍👍👍👍
The vegetarian menu was excellent and gave us a real choice of delicious alternatives.
A nice evening, everything good. A little pricey but good food
Had a great meal, i would recommend The Crown. Sorry couldn't give 5 stars for service, due to only seemed 2 girls serving, and as it was very busy, we had to wait longer than hoped. But that wasnt the servers fault, i think you just needed another member of staff on a saturday night, other than that, it was excellent
Lovely food and great atmosphere!
Disorganised. No one to greet us and organise coats. Seating totally impractical and great difficulty in finding anyone to rearrange before all the guests arrived resulting in total chaos. You really do need to improve your front of house staffing levels. However all staff we dealt were very pleasant and polite.
Food was nice but staff were rude. 5 staff behind the bar and not one of them would serve us. Too busy talking to each other or cleaning glasses. When I did finally get someone’s attention they made me feel uncomfortable and just walked away. Not drinking alcohol it was only an orange juice and no one else at the bar waiting to be served. This went on all night.
My first visit to the Crown for lunch - great menu choices, friendly service - thank you - I'll come again.
The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, but ordinary. The service was cheerful and prompt. The food was very good. I particularly enjoyed the beef cheek with horseradish potatoes. The price was a bit high for the rather ordinary ambiance.
Enjoyable evening, good atmosphere. We began with a drink in the bar. The bar staff were attentive. Then we went to the restaurant, we waited to be seated, but were then ignored and bi-passed by another couple who the staff happily lead passed us.. The table was good and our servers attentive. Although kept asking every time they came if we had enough drinks [even after they had just delivered a 250ml of wine and a pint of cider]. The food was well-prepared and tasty - but every course seemed to lack an item from the menu - ie Pork Belly Bites and Crackling - no crackling appeared. Braised Beef Cheek - there was no sign of the bacon. Disappointing!. The only cause that had everything was the ham hock terrine - however the recipe could do with some capers and gherkins [chopped] to give it a fresher taste, as it was rather dry. Overall we did have a enjoyable evening and would recommend going - but the attention to details would have made it perfect.
We had an amazing stay with you. The facilities, staff and food were outstanding.
Food nice just need more choice for a veggie or vegan. Also drinks so pricey but the cocktails r lovely just shocking price
This was our second visit to The Crown Hotel & experienced the Valentine Special. Our room was a 'cosy double' which was nice & well equipped with tea & coffee making equipment etc..also lovely clean, crisp white bedding & towels. My only criticism was the poor lighting. It was very dimly lit especially when you're getting ready in the evening! The food was excellent especially the 'taster menu' ... Well done Ben!
All round excellence. Thank you
Our celebration at The Crown was everything we had hoped for and more. Georgia oversaw everything beautifully. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was delicious. Every single one of our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and have been effusive in their praise for The Crown. Well done, and thank you very much!
Beautiful meal, great atmosphere would recommend
Awful experience trying to book afternoon tea with lots of lost deposits and confusion over names and whether it was a hen party or baby shower. Scones were not very nice, some of the cakes were dry and past their best. Dairy free option contained no scones and what can only resemble a lemon drizzle cake was rock hard.
The new chef and menu at the Crown deserves high praise indeed. The food is interesting, delicious and well presented. The vegan offer is also a great addition. The prices are also really competitive. We’d be going back anyway as the crown is a favourite of many years; we hope the new chef stays for a good few years!
We have been staying at the Crown regularly for the last 10 years. This week’s stay was excellent. At times we waited a long time to be served- there is under staffing. However when we were the service was outstanding and memorable
Great location if visiting Woodbridge. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good menu (lunch) - except rather lacking in side vegetables. BUT we requested a green veg not on the menu and they happily provided it ! It did all seem to be fresh local produce, freshly cooked.
We ordered the sea bass and sea bream dishes, both really good. Also had drinks form the £5 after work cocktail list, good value.
