About The Cross Keys Great Missenden
A wonderful 16th century pub in the quaint village of Great Missenden. Set in the Chiltern Hills this little gem offers great food, sourced from the best local suppliers and is the perfect setting to quench your thirst after exploring the historic village and the picturesque Misbourne Valley.Alongside good old classics like Seared Calves' Liver and our hearty Cross Keys Hand Made Pie, we also offer a selection of dishes made using the freshest seasonal produce with daily specials, mouthwatering Burgers and great Roasts on Sundays.
we hope to return when next in the area
The quality of food was very good, with a decent choice on the main menu plus a range of specials too. Not keen on the application of a 12.5% 'optional' service charge across all food & drink, would prefer to exercise own discretion in this respect. The prices generally reflected the high quality, although the puddings were a little steep as compared to their portion size & standard. The bar area and outside space was very busy with a buzzing atmosphere, although much quieter as you would expect in the dining room. The decor in the dining area is a little dated, with wipe-clean 'leather' chairs, but the rest of the pub modern and tasteful. Overall, a very pleasant evening with good food, friendly/efficient service and certainly worth a visit for more than your average pub meal.
Met up with some old college friends for a lunch and a drink on Monday. Excellent food and reasonable prices,, very helpful service and overall a very pleasant experience.
We enjoyed a delicious lunchtime meal here on Saturday and would definately recommend The Cross Keys. The staff were friendly & attentive. The only minus point is that they add 12.5% service charge, which we generally don't agree with.
Waiting staff were very professional and very nice!
Food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
A very good meal. However, I object strongly to having a 12.5% service charge added to the bill. This is an annoying practice common in London but not in Bucks. It would make me think twice about returning to the Cross Keys.
I Am Coeliac so it is sometimes very difficult to find a restaurant that serves Gluten Free Food. The Cross Keys has an excellent Gluten Free Menu which has a very good choice. The food was very well prepared, well presented and a pleasure to eat.Can Recommend!.
Great meal, only one tiny complaint: in this very hot weather an iced latte would have been welcome but unfortunately not possible. Perhaps your staff could be trained how to make them. Thank you.
We booked for 8, which was the max you could book. In fact 10 of us showed up and the pub staff quickly accommodated us even though they were fully booked. Had a lovely meal. Thank you
Lovely food and exceptional service. All the staff and ‘management’ were absolutely spot on. Contributed hugely to our celebration lunch. Perfect.
Outstanding customer service, staff were simply brilliant.
Really nice experience for first time visit. Good portion sizes, yummy burger, chips and coleslaw. Would recommend.
We range from 5 to 12 people. We travel from all over the country 6 times a year to attend a course at Missenden Abbey. Meeting and dining at The Cross Keys is always a treat for us all. Good company and good food & drink.
Service was quite slow - as took some time to be served initially. Sunday roast was good but roast potatoes were not so good (not crispy). Also very small amount of apple sauce given with the meal - apparently they had run out! Would certainly go again for maybe a lighter meal or drink - but would go elsewhere for Sunday lunch in future.
Excellent food as always. Only minor point is that the main course size of Caesar Salad was quite small.
Pleasant and helpful staff, good food and a most enjoyable evening.
Superb service from initial contact for booking, and rebooking due to the snow, through to service on the day. We'll certainly be back
Nice afternoon on the terrace.
Excellent food, plenty of choice too. Leave room for pudding the Sticky Toffee pudding is so yummy, the best!
Great food, classics but very well prepared and somehow the chef adds his signature to each dish. Interior is succesful combination of very old elements with (discrete) contemporary style.
Lovely pub, food was perfect - best roast we’ve had in ages and great service too. Will return if we’re in the area. Thanks!
A lovely lunch, well looked after. Interesting and tasty menu.
