Excellent meal and service
The restaurant did not appear to be mega busy so we were very surprised that the food took over an hour to appear and that was only after a prompt from us to a waitress- no mention of any problems from staff to keep us updated, so having to ask what was happening was not professional. There were many items on the menu not available- very disappointing. Soup was delicious but the rustic bread roll was tough and inedible. Mint sauce was requested to accompany the lamb shank and we had to request more as the portion offered was miniscule. Two drinks of soda (&lime), soda was flat & extra lime was requested to compensate. Other than the above, we enjoyed our evening.
We were told a 30min wait when ordering which was ok but it was closer to an hour to get starter then another 30mins for main. In addition the restaurant was cold to the point where some of our guests had to have meal in their coats. Food was of usual high quality when it arrived but amazed that there were no pizzas available (especially as my daughter is very picky and we were banking on them being available) We have been to the Crossing several times and up until now was one of our favourite places in Burton. It is quirky, different and food choice/quality has always been fantastic. Unfortuantely Saturdays visit will make us think twice next time we go out to eat.
Service extremely slow, especially when we had pre ordered. 45 minutes after starters and the mains still hadn’t arrived. We asked a member of staff who went to check, only to be told they weren’t aware we had finished our starters and our mains would be another 10 minutes. The lady dealing was very apologetic and explained what had happened. We had 3 young children with us who had finished their meals and were getting restless. After 15 minutes and still no mains, 2 members of the party left with the children. The mains came out about 10 minutes later, again with an apology. The food was served hot. The fish pie was very dry and was more like a bowl of mashed potato. Hardly any seafood in it. The burgers were nice as were the children’s fish and chips.
Fabulous service, fabulous food, great, friendly, welcoming pub which I'd definitely recommend We weren't rushed from the table once we had finished eating and the prices were reasonable as well as the portion sizes
Received a ‘invite’ due to a Birthday, so, as we were away over the weekend, we booked for Monday evening. We were seated in a lovely position, the waitress was VERY pleasant & asked immediately if we require drinks & left us with the menu. We chose pizzas & sides upon her return, with a slight alteration to the topping on one. They were only too happy to oblige & whilst it wasn’t the same waitress who served us again, the second waitress, who was equally well mannered, friendly & attentive. Although on completion, the bill was slightly wrong, the staff apologised & altered it without any issues, as a consequence, we shall visit again next Monday too, the pizzas were delicious & the ‘chef’s homemade chilli jam’ sensational... see you next week!
Thank you so much for looking after us all so well on Sunday. Our family rarely gets together as one and the atmosphere and setting was just right to allow us all to mingle. My only comment would be .. bring back the old style of Sunday Lunches you did, with the platters, they were better value for money and more fun. THANK YOU AGAIN
Fantastic service and excellent food. Staff are amazing every time I go in!
Excellent menu choices. Friendly efficient service and great value for money. We had a lovely evening and will be back soon.
Lovely and polite staff , food was delicious. Although short staffed , they remained attentive and friendly, cant fault there professionalism. Will be coming back .
Great food, great service
Upon arrival we were informed that several dishes were unavailable as they'd run out, this didn't leave a great deal to choose from and shouldn't have been allowed to happen in my opinion. Service bit all over the place, one waitress asked us to pay before we'd even eaten! Waited over an hour for our mains, once it did arrive it was tasty but we'd gone past it really. Didn't bother with dessert , just wanted to leave.
What a lovely place. Great food and great service too. Definitely be back again soon
Very attentive staff and friendly a lovely experience.
Food was delayed some what.
Service with a smile! Great food!
Food was lovely (Derbyshire Picnic Platter) service was great. Booked in the middle of a sunny Saturday so not many people in, will definitely go again!
Came as a group of 7 on a busy Friday. Food came all together and was excellent quality, nobody could fault it. Service was great, a fab team. Will always come again.
One of our favourite places in burton.always excellent food and service.keep up the good work...,
Service was good, also very good value for money, was a little disappointed we weren’t told what the kitchen had run out of as I decided I wanted the pork chops to be told they had run out to then decide I wanted the lamb to which again they had ran out of although, when I had decided to have the fish and chips I was really impressed and really enjoyed it but maybe would’ve been nice to have been told the things that the kitchen had ran out of there fore I could’ve chosen my meal a lot quicker
Really enjoyed our food, great service and we will definitely be going again.
Thank you for a fantastic evening. The food and service were brilliant and you really made my sisters hen night just what she wanted. Thanks again for being so accommodating with decorating the table for us and also the lovely personal touch with the chalkboard on the table.
we came for dinner, were disappointed with what came out, I order from the "Principal Dishes" the smoky pork crockpot. at £13.95 I expected more for my money and definitely expected more meat. I don't feel it lived up to its descritption on the menu at all. My friend ordered the homity pie and was also disappointed by its size, a small sliver of pie, rather than an actual pie. these dishes were more like lunchtime menu size not dinner for 14 quid size.
My fiance and I are regulars at The Crossing and we therefore decided to book an area for the evening of our joint Hen and Stag do. I found it easy to book and the staff were very accommodating - it was easy to communicate over email or face-to-face. When we arrived, tables and chairs had been arranged for the number of people and a table was ready for our food order. It was a lovely surprise to find a message and some sweets to welcome us. I had pre-ordered some pizzas and chips which arrived at the time we had ordered them for and everyone commented on the lovely food. We felt very welcome throughout the whole evening. It was the perfect way to end a brilliant day. Thank you! :)
Excellent all round
