It had been a while that we had last been but was not disappointed from start to finish it was a joy great food, brilliant service have no problem recommending it to friends.
We had the best waitesss ever. Please find out who it was and thank her again for us. Always impressed by the staff at the Crooked Well but she was something special! She had black hair if that helps and was LOVELY!
Lovely roast dinners and a really lovely place in Camberwell. Friendly staff who are very attentive and polite
Booked a table for 11:45 as we were dining with young children and the website said the kitchen opened at 11:30. On arriving at the restaurant we were greeted with surprise and told the kitchen did not open until 12:30. We were told we could wait inside but no one apologised for the error on the restaurant's part or make any attempt to advance service time. As a result we had some fairly hungry and unruly children by the time we ate which didn't make for a pleasant dining experience. This was our first time back at the crooked well in a while and food and service standards have definitely dropped.
My Father and I would like to thank you very much for hosting our funeral reception yesterday. The service was excellent, both discrete and attentive. The food was lovely and we had several comments from the guests highlighting how great the food was. Many thanks for helping us honour my Mum in the way she would have wanted - great company, nice food and drinks.
great food, great service
Would highly recommend this pub, service was a bit slow but I think I only noticed this as I was with 2 hungry children. My meal was excellent.
Great food and service as ever. Thank you.
fantastic sunday lunch !
We had a lovely evening, as it was a large group of friends reunited but there was a mixup with our numbers and the food was a real disappointment. It’s always a bit of a mystery how a pub can do amazing food all year round but somehow get it so wrong at Christmas. We were also surprised/shocked that there was sausage in our traditional fish pie !!! this was not mentioned at all. It was a good job we are flexible eaters as this could have been a total disaster for pescatarians! Surprise meat is not the ticket. Staff were pleasant as always
The food and service were good, but overpriced: £45 for two starters, a non-meat main and two small bottles of beer in what is essentially a pub, is unjustified.
Most of the roasts had run out by the time we had our dinner booking at 8pm - only chicken and pork and no vegetarian option. I even called to check if it would be better to pre-order the dishes and they reassured me that it would be fine. The food took a long time to come. Staff was rude and unattentive, busy tidying the place at 10 despite only getting our food at 9.30 and the pub closing at 11. I came here before as I am a local resident but this was an absolutely terrible experience and ruined our perception of the pub.
Lovely waitress who served us, very polite and attentive
We had our Christmas meal here for about 30 people and had an absolutely amazing time. The room looked great and it was so good having our own bar - the food was also delicious ! I want to also give a special mention to the staff who were lovely and so helpful.
Great food and service!
Initial mix up with booking, but was quickly resolved. Great service, good food.
Nice place and i go often as i live locally BUT always problems. This time run out of roasts, 30 minute wait for food, the wine i ordered had run out but the most bizarre - they had run out of butter for the (overpriced) bread so had to eat it dry while waiting half an hour for the grub. What?!!
A couple of us arrived early and we were very grateful to be allowed sit at our table straight away. The staff were all very friendly although our initial orders (wine, water, etc) took a while (and a few reminders) to arrive. But after that service was great and we had a lovely time. The food was delicious - we’ll be back, I’m sure.
The roast dinner is by far the best I’ve ever had, it’s even better then my own roast - hard enough to get a table so wanna keep it on the down low ;-). AMAZINF STAFF, AMAZING FOOD (the roast Potatoes are to die for) AMAZING ATMOSPHERE!!
This is the second time using the private hire space at The Crooked Well. The first time they did so well that I decided to book again for a different occasion! The service and food (wish there was more!) was brilliant and the booking staff was super flexible and helpful! No complaints!
We very much enjoyed our visit to The Crooked Well. We were a little tight for space but appreciated that we could be squeezed in on a popular night for Christmas parties. Staff were all very friendly, food was served promptly and enjoyed by all. Thank you very much!
Good pies to share.
