Food was nice, particularly duck rillette. Haddock fishcake was over salted.
It was lovely to be back at what is one of Camberwell's best eating spots. The Manager and the Chef have brought standards back up to where they used to be... a first rate Sunday lunch for under £20 and served with a smile.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening at the crooked well. As usual the service was spot-on warm and friendly and attentive. The food was delicious particularly the buratta and tomato salad, the cod, and the lamb croquettes. As it was a warm evening we enjoyed sitting outside and at 10pm when the outside needed to be cleared we had a table all set up for us inside for a few more cocktails and dessert. A perfect evening and such a treat after lockdown.
I was concerned at what appeared to be a lax approach to social distancing and other measure I’d have expected (e.g. paper menus re-used). For that reason, I would not recommend.
Really delicious Sunday roast for 2. We shared the chicken with all the trimmings plus a side of cauliflower cheese (which shouldn’t be missed!). Quick and friendly service too.
The staff were very courteous and helpful and friendly. Lovely pub.
More than just and outstanding local Pub, great food, service and atmosphere. Friendly team doing an exceptional job in tough times. Book early and enjoy as we have many times.
Great pub and brilliant service
I love this place, but my only comment is the last 4-5 times we've been there has always been an issue with service - slow, missing a side or incorrect bill. It's got amazing food and maybe we have bad luck. Though, not even once or twice. It's great food. They just need to review their processes and service.
I've been to the Crooked Well a few times now for food and drinks over the last year or so. There's always a great atmosphere and the food and drink are adventurous yet delicious. However, I do think the service could be improved - although very efficient, the service can sometimes come across as slightly blunt. There was also an issue with an incorrect overcharging on our bill, but this should be resolved soon. Overall, I really enjoy going to the Crooked Well despite the above, and will definitely be back!
An absolutely excellent evening. Good food and drink. Attentive service.
Have been before and the Crooked Well never disappoints. Despite the new rules a great atmosphere and the food was as good as always.
Nice to be back and good to see the COVID measures in place. Felt all very normal. Great drinks and food as usual.
Great to see the Crooked Well open again!
Friendly service and a lovely atmosphere even in this strangest of times. Starters were delicious - fish pie could have been a bit tastier, and needed a bit more veg, but comfort food I suppose. I hope they can ride the storm!
Once again a wonderful evening at The Crooked Well with delicious food and even better service... will be back soon
We had a great time. We were welcomed very warmly, and all the staff obviously took their job really seriously and took a lot of trouble. We had the roast lamb for two, which was like the very best of home cooking and was absolutely delicious.
The food was nice apart from the piece of lamb we had was tough.
The free glass of Prosecco was a nice touch to celebrate international women’s Day. My only criticism would be that it is a shame that a few of the dishes were for 2 people. If you are unable to do that in a group then you sadly miss out on being able to choose that dish.
A return visit after a 5 year gap. Sorry to say that the food was not as good as the first visit . The rabbit pie was dry, and the sea bream special was a very small portion for the cost.
Food was delicious and service was great.
Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Great food - only small problem was salty chips on a child’s meal. Generally children’s food isn’t salted but when I asked for fresh chips without salt it wasn’t a problem and they were brought ASAP.
Great place to eat with the kids - very friendly & tasty food : ) We will be back soon!
