About The Crafty Cow
Welcome to The Crafty Cow
We are a fantastic family friendly pub situated on Gloucester Road, Bristol.
It’s a pub where the whole family is welcomed – with a cosy bar area, large dining area, an indoor children’s play area and a large garden with garden games and a full size Petanque pitch!
Serving delicious and exciting food and a wide range of drinks; 4 craft beers, 5 real ales, a lovely selection of wines, spirits, bottled drinks, draft lagers and ciders.
We open every morning for coffee. Brunch is also served when we open in the mornings apart from Sunday!
We’ve got plenty going on in the evenings too like our Pub Quiz every Tuesday! Check out the ‘What’s On’ section here, or our Facebook page, for information on up coming events.
We hope to see you soon!
Had a Sunday dinner with the family. Really lovely food, freshly cooked and well worth that little extra. So much nicer than the pre cooked , microwave food you get elsewhere these days.
Staff were really nice and helpful. Lamb was excellent.
Poor. Waited over an hour for our food which when arrived both starters a main were brought at the same time, so we had starters along with roast dinners. The Vegan option for dinner looked like a blood pudding and tasted of salted cardboard. No offer of free starter to compensate for the delay and the joke is the starters were cold hummus so there was no excuse no matter how busy you are to leave a table with no food for over an hour. Poor poor show
It's great to see this pub now more of a family pub. As someone who has lived in Bristol all my life and frequented the pub when it was under different names like Duke of York back in the day and the Wessex too. At that that time it had a bad reputation and lots of association with the police for varous reasons . Now a lovely pub.Great atmosphere and food. Very good value and some where you can take family of all ages and friends to dine or just to have a catch too :))
Good place to eat.
I love this place, it’s great for my kids to play in and also give time for the adults to be adults. That staff are great, I always know if one of our child’s have run away and no one notices, the staff will always know where they are.
Sunday roast was incredible! Was a really lovely dinner with great service and atmosphere.
The food is outstanding, good size portions & brilliant service
Really good atmosphere and friendly team ! I always have a good moment when I go there, food is good but only negative point, we don’t have that much choice on the menu... I definitely recommend you to try the Crafty Cow 😃
Atoo expensive for the quality of food. We had roast dinner as was no taste whatsoever. Gravy no taste at all and vegs were frozen and boiled instead of roasted. The beef meat was not too bad.. but the only thing that had taste in the plate.
I made a reservation for lunch for myself and my colleagues. There were 14 of us in total and the whole experience was friendly, efficient and the food tasty. Everything arrived at the same time, was freshly cooked and was correct! We were on a schedule but were all fed and watered within our 75 minute schedule! Well done Crafty Cow, see you again.
Sadly the service was pretty shocking... delayed meals and when they came one was wrong and one had to be returned as it was all fat, One child’s meal didn’t come until we had finished ours. Lastly I asked for the bill, which didn’t arrive but the girl I asked the bill for did arrive offering dessert menus!! It was quite shambolic and this has happened twice now. In small groups I have the service to be very good but they don’t seem able to cope with larger groups.
Lovely dinner, good atmosphere. I really like family restaurants, however they had all the children at a different end to the restaurant which was brilliant. We were able to enjoy the atmosphere whilst also being able to hear ourselves talk. Good food, quick service. Will definitely book again! Thank you
Fantastic Sunday lunch for all the family. Great service from friendly staff, excellent kids area, clean facilities and scrummy generous portions of food. Will definitely come again.
A friendly, family pub.The food and service was very good and resonably priced. There are board games to keep all ages occupied and a wide selection of drinks to choose from.
Lovely Christmas meal for a party of 12, all enjoyed and great size portions, thank you
We did not appreciate being told to tidy up toys when other children had made the mess. We feel very strongly that this was totally inappropriate and ruined an otherwise nice dining experience. The references to ‘Santa won’t come if you don’t tidy up’ were completely inappropriate. What a shame.
Great local pub, good service with friendly staff.
Had a works gathering here. Very efficient on-line booking. Great staff and nice food, a little disappointed that you had run out of Fish and Chips, but good alternatives available. We would come back.
Great meal at the Crafty Cow on Saturday. Staff are friendly and the food is always great
We had an excellent Christmas lunch for a large group. Staff were really helpful in the run-up to the event, as some details needed to be changed. On the day itself, they were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was fantastic. Several members of the group commented on how good it was afterwards. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we were able to move from the dining area to the more casual and comfy armchairs after the meal to continue into the evening. We would definitely come back again!
Had a great time thank you.
