About The Cracking Crab
The latest addition to The Winking Prawn Group is the Cracking Crab in Polzeath, Cornwall. With a name like “The Cracking Crab” you can guess what we do? Crab - and a lot of it! There’s seafood by the bucket load and juicy West Country steaks off the grill, so why not check out the menu? The bar is always fully stocked with chilled local beers, ciders and wine, perfect out on the sundeck soaking up the views
The food is really good albeit quite expensive.
Great place to eat, however dinner was rather pricey for what you get. The sharing sides really didn’t stretch to 2 people, and not at over £20 per head as a minimum. Shame also that there are no kids desserts available other than a scoop of ice cream.
Service slightly unorganised and slow but food really tasted great and would definitely return and recommend
Delicious food but very slow service
Awesome. Nuff said.
I LOVE this place. It has a whole different vibe from lunch to dinner, so you can chose which mood/style you fancy and go with it - or do both as you won’t get the same experience twice. The food is lovely, the view stunning and the staff friendly. We come every time we are in Cornwall x
Lovely food, lovely place Excellent service from friendly staff but quite expensive especially for deserts.
Great to see the way you’ve adapted to the situation. Food and service has not been compromised at all in the process! Would highly recommend to anyone
Great food great atmosphere
Shame your menu has to be reduced, but still delicious.
We had a lovely evening and were welcomed by your excellent staff who coped admirably with 8 adults and 2 very energetic children! We had monk fish and crab which was delicious and you catered really well for my gluten free daughter. We felt totally normal [except dressing up clothes were missing!] for one of the first times in this unusual Covid world we are currently living in! We will be back...... Generally, we far preferred you to The Mariners in Rock who were average on everything!!
My only recommendation would be that when shown to the table let guests know someone will be with them as we were sat for a while then read the sign to download the app/QR code. By the time we finally got it uploaded the waitress came over and told us she would be serving us. Having said that, our waitress was lovely and even trained her colleague while serving us. Full marks to her. Food was perfect!
Food lovely but expensive.
We had a lovely meal on the last night of our holiday. Service was friendly and food was great. Will definitely be back!
Always love the food, especially the garlic prawns and the postion is amazing, cant get much better.
Brilliant organisation and another fantastic meal. See you next year!
Fantastic food and service as always. Love this place ❤
Great service and great food! Great to take kids
As a chef, I thought the crab cakes were very poor stidgy and the chilli salsa was just sweet chilli sauce! Not impressed, the other starters were fine. The crab fir the main course was badly served. And pretty tasteless. Not to the standard of delicious fresh crab expected in Cornwall. There is more antibacterial in y thy ge Polzeath public loos than your facilities. Nothing to sanitise going into a toilet, or when finishing in the cubicle. There is soap at the basin, but that won’t help protect the next customer in the loo cubicle. I imagine you’ve had a few months to prepare for reopening!
I was a little unsure if I would like the restaurant when I saw it from the outside but the food was great and the staff excellent
Another fine meal at the CC and despite only able to get an early Evening table due to Covid restrictions still had a thoroughly fine meal with friend’s and family, followed by watching the sun set over Polzeath bay
Excellent food, efficient friendly service and stunning views!!!
Luke and his team so friendly, and a great venue for gorgeous food
