About The Crabtree
The Crabtree is a family run public house, located in the beautiful Sussex countryside south of Horsham.
We serve great local, seasonal food, organic wines and fabulous real ales in warm and welcoming surroundings.
This place is a little slice of heaven! If I could give it more than five stars I would. Beautiful pub with a magical garden, backing on to wildflower-strewn fields. We had dinner, and the food was exceptionally creative. We particularly loved the desserts. Service was very warm and we felt hugely welcome. Will have to find an excuse to go back!
We’re already planning our next visit with friends
Very welcoming. Excellent service.
I was impressed, I last ate at the Crabtree approx. 10 years ago. The service was disgusting although the food was good. I decided to give it another go, and pleased I did.
Disappointed that the beer die took is dominated by Heineken which as a beer lover is a big minus point for me. The ribeye steaks were very thin but good flavour. Puddings were rather flavourless. Service was very good and mains otherwise good. COVID precautions inevitably detract from the atmosphere but felt you did a great job despite the no doubt considerable challenge. Good effort.
Beautiful pub. The food was absolutely delicious with great service.
All in all a nice afternoon out and I'm glad the pub is part of the eat out to help out scheme. Was very pleased they were able to accommodate us at last minute notice. The setting is so lovely - the garden area was really great. The staff were working very hard as they were stretched and they were friendly. Sadly the food did let the experience down - the sweetcorn croquettes sounded lovely but were dry and over priced. The vegetarian salad was very basic and wasn't a main course - again over priced for what it was. Veggie burger was homemade which is lovely but over seasoned. Lamb burger was great and the triple cooked chips were also good. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing (best thing of the day) but the rice pudding wasn't cooked and just didn't taste very nice at all so wasn't eaten. The veggie options are limited and the food was hit and miss - we did tell the waitress on the day. Shame as it could've been really lovely and was average.
This is an absolute gem of a pub. Situated opposite South Lodge hotel. My friends have recently moved from America from the heart of buffalo, New York City and they thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and service of this great pub. We would heartily recommend this pub to anyone.
Friendly efficient staff . Good food. Good wine. I wish them well.
Very enjoyable afternoon, great food and service. Will return and would recommend
Really lovely as always , service not quite on point when drinks order ( s ) taken and my friends steak bavette , so she said wasn't great either. 3 other meals were fab.
Went along for lunch to celebrate family bday, very good food and excellent value. Will return.
Thank you for a lovely meal. The food was really fantastic and great value for money
Waitress very accommodating and understanding of allergies and modifications for dishes - was much appreciated. Food excellent and great value on the eat out to help out scheme. Complimentary nibbles from the chef was a nice touch too.
Lovely food, we were fortunate enough with the weather to be able to sit outside, but would be more than happy to eat in on a colder day. All the staff were friendly and accommodating - will definitely return.
First Time at the Crab Tree for a meal and wasn’t disappointed, service was spot on, attentive without being intrusive.
Our Sunday lunch was the worst experience with food for a number of years. After sending it back once because all three dishes were cold, they arrived a second time equally as cold!!! Saying that the staff who dealt with these issues were great. We were asked to pay half towards the food which we refused and left with no charge. On previous occasions our visits have been spot on so I can only put that Sunday down to the Chef having a bad day at the office!!!! Thanks
Little concerned that a group of 6 females turned up separately and then hugged and kissed each other with no regard for social distancing
What can I say but thank thank you so much for making my special day perfect xx
Seemed very confused in terms of how service was being offered. Food really average which was a surprise. Decided to close at 10, didn’t advise us of that or we wouldn’t have booked for 8.30, we were told we couldn’t have a coffee as the machine was switched off, 5 minutes later when we walked through to pay the bill (as nobody came to take payment) all the staff were having a glass of wine! Might do well to remember you have people paying to be there, perhaps they should be served first before you serve yourself. Poor, wont be back.
Limited menu atm
A beautiful with friendly staff. A wider bar menu with a few more veggie options would make it perfect.
Beautiful pub with a great atmosphere (even on a Monday evening)! Our main meals were unbelievable- some of the best we’ve ever had but the pudding did let it down. I ordered the rice pudding with raspberry’s/meringue and basil. It was just a bowl with some strawberries and very overpowering sauce. Not what was advertised sadly.
