About The Crab & Lobster
Nestling on the banks of Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve the 350 year old Crab & Lobster has been renovated creating one of the most stunning hideaways on the South Coast. Just a ten-minute drive from Chichester and its cultural, architectural and retail charms, at the Crab & Lobster exceptional service and relaxed style await you.
The restaurant successfully combines excellent service and presentation, stylish décor and friendly ambience with food of the highest quality.
Where possible, the menu is sourced from local producers – Selsey fishermen and neighbouring dairy farmers.
With an adventurous emphasis on fresh fish and of course crab and lobster! There are also traditional English and Mediterranean dishes to tempt the taste buds and thrill the palate.
A delicious crab salad followed by the best treacle tart ever all served in their delightful courtyard garden.
food average, especially chips. Empty on a Thursday lunchtime.
This has become our favourite restaurant. Simply because the food is delicious, the service attentive and unobtrusive and overall, good value for money.
Great pub, great location, great food, great staff
Enjoyed our 25th wedding anniversary with a beautiful meal The food was exceptional served by friendly relaxed staff Would recommend to all
Good service, helpful, funny and polite. Food very good apart from lack of imagination on veg and food not really hot. But very tasty.
Superb as always xx
The food is superb and we would also recommend the accommodation
Excellent food with friendly efficient service
A perfect lunch, with perfect service and a delicious top quality lunch for three of us..
Delicious food, excellent service and very friendly staff. Whole experience was pleasurable and relaxing. Just what we needed.
Not cheap but a very enjoyable experience with delicious food.
Lovely place ,great weekend away staff and food excellent
We had a wonderful lunch here, tasty food and fantastic service. Highly recommend.
Such a lovely spot to dine outdoors in the sunshine where dogs are made to feel welcome which is ideal as it’s a great place to walk to. I felt the menu could’ve had more summery items, especially the desserts, given the weather but was delighted with the salad that was on offer.
Great meal as always, imaginative specials and everything else delicious. Would highly recommend!
I requested a quiet table which was a bit of an ask on a Saturday evening! However we were placed in the Snug where the acoustics were better than in the main room, but perhaps a less attractive ambience. I think this section could do with re-decoration as it could be really attractive. We elected to forgo starters in favour of having mian courses and puddings. This was a good decision as a) our food was excellent and b) seeing the starters served at the adjacent table they looked a little mean on key ingredients. Many restaurants skimp on things like scallops which are expensive (went to one recently where three scallops had been sliced to look like six...). I think it's a false economy as the marginal cost of providing a decent serving far outweighs the loss of a non-returning customer. The service was generally very friendly and efficient. Despite the place being full and us arriving for an 8.30pm table we didn't have to wait too long for our food. My only quibble would be with one jolly waitress who was a bit slap-dash when pouring the wine spilling a few drops in the process - at £27.95 for Picpoul de Pinet a little more care is due! Speaking of wine I'd rung earlier to ask whether there were any non-alcoholic wines on the list. Answer no, but non-alcoholic beer yes. Both of us having given up alcohol but accompanying two friends who like their wine I feel it's more comfortable for all parties if there are four wine glasses on the go. So I asked if I could bring in my own (Torres Natureo De-alcoholised, Muscat, Spanish, White Wine - least bad discovered so far), and what the corkage would be. Answer £10 which is a lot on top of the Torres price of £5.99...Nevertheless I took in two bottles and this was served well with one kept in the fridge while the other was in the ice bucket. Our bill was £220 for four (inc. £25.20 tip) and this is par for the course nowadays at a decent restaurant, which Crab & Lobster certainly is. We'll go again, especially if Torres Natureo De-alcoholised gets put on the wine list!
If my 5/5 star rating looks generous, it's because the Crab and Lobster richly deserve it. The staff are delightful, the food always excellent, and the location enchanting. It's why we've been returning so often for so many years. Congratulations to them for maintaining such a consistently high standard for so long.
Stunning food, reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.
Wonderful food, atmosphere to noisy and service very attentive but far to small a time between courses, it was one removed one replaced, which was not conducive to a pleasant experience
Both beers were disappointing
Absolutely delicious food in a wonderful setting with fantastic staff. We'll be back again!
Having also spent the night with you, the whole experience was faultless. Thank-you..
A fantastic evening & superb dinner! Many thanks to all the staff for helping make it a great night.
