About The Cowpers Oak
We’re a village pub. Not a bar, not a restaurant, not even a gastropub, whatever that is. Just a great village pub – a cosy place where you’ll find roaring log fires, creeping purple wisteria around the lattice windows, muddy boots at the door, and local pub food cooked from scratch by the very brilliant Daniel.
We use the freshest fruit, vegetables (apart from our British frozen peas) and herbs we can get our hands on. Our head chef, Daniel Gibbons, swears by fresh, local produce and makes a mean Scotch egg with eggs produced from our own hens.
Super developments to the rear garden during lockdown with the bbq and table additions. All staff are so welcoming - even in PPE. Well done Cowpers Oak
Wonderful to be able to go out with friends to our local pub for the first time after lockdown. Very well organised with al PPE in place.
It was a lovely place to eat and the staff were really great, and made us feel really welcome. The food was good and the scotch egg... amazing! Thanks
Lovely atmosphere, great food, really friendly staff. Will definitely be back again
Cowpers Oak have worked hard at keeping staff and customers safe. Quality of food and service excellent .
Excellent village pub with friendly service. So pleased it is open again after lockdown.
Staff were very kind and welcoming, first time at the pub and will be back again lovely food!
Love the Cowpers and we don’t always make it to the quiz but when we do, it’s great fun!
My favourite country pub. Great food, drinks selection and always friendly service .
Great food and service. Very raditional country pub which I really like although seats could be a bit more comfy.
Lovely liver and bacon and also fish cakes... good to see that the menu has had a bit of a refresh!
Great food and friendly helpful staff. A fantastic amount of custard with the crumble too 😊
As always, warm and friendly service.
Very enjoyable lunch
Excellent food and wonderful service - we all had a lovely evening thank you
Atmosphere - the fire was not lit, even though it was Valentine's Day and it would have been very romantic if it had been lit. Service - when the starter was delivered, the waitress dropped one of my girlfriend's halloumi chips on the table, so the waitress took the plate back to get a new chip, but it meant my starter was on the table and my girlfriend's was not. So my food was getting cold and she could not eat anything as there was nothing for her on the table. Food & Drink - my girlfriend ordered Lemon and Lime and it would have been nicer if there was a fresh slice of lemon or lime in her pint glass (as there was nothing fresh now).
It was a lovely place to spend time with family and enjoy good food and wine.
The ginger pudding with caramel sauce and honeycomb ice cream is the best dessert I've had in years and coming from a chocoholic who doesn't like particularly ginger that is a huge compliment!
Lovely country pub serving delicious meals, with a great atmosphere and very friendly staff-would highly recommend!
Great Sunday lunch in a lovely cosy village setting and all the staff were very friendly
Enjoyable family meal in a bar with great atmosphere.
Good food and helpful staff. Will go there again
Whitebait soggy. Pie filled with thick tasteless sauce and barely any meat, basically inedible. Compensation of 1 starter free of charge was almost an insult! The bottle of Rioja was very nice though
We’ve booked a table again as lovely place food and atmosphere.
