About The Cowpers Oak
We’re a village pub. Not a bar, not a restaurant, not even a gastropub, whatever that is. Just a great village pub – a cosy place where you’ll find roaring log fires, creeping purple wisteria around the lattice windows, muddy boots at the door, and local pub food cooked from scratch by the very brilliant Daniel.
We use the freshest fruit, vegetables (apart from our British frozen peas) and herbs we can get our hands on. Our head chef, Daniel Gibbons, swears by fresh, local produce and makes a mean Scotch egg with eggs produced from our own hens.
Food arrived very quickly. Nice beef!
Excellent friendly service and brilliant food.
Very relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious.
A friendly pub with good food and beer
We really enjoyed our night at the pub! Good food great atmosphere. We definitely will come back again.
Nice surroundings, first visit, excellent service. Well presented food good flavours. Just a little expensive and not much choice. Entrance from car park needs improving.
Loved the ambience, we got a lovely warm welcome and our steak was gorgeous. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
Very friendly, food was great and dogs welcome!
we enjoyed our meal with you .but thought the room that we were in was very dowdy and dark. not what I was expecting at all. it needed brightening up and a lick of paint .waitress was excellent which made up for the disappointment of the room.
Lovely evening. We will return
Enjoyed a very nice meal with family. Lovely to have the Italian option on a Saturday with choices for all.
We had a lovely time celebrating 2 50th birthdays. A friendly pub, not intrusive - with wonderful freshly cooked food offering that would be at home in a high quality restaurant.
The roast potatoes and broccoli were undercooked but as I was on a first date I felt too embarrassed to mention it to our waitress I didn’t expect that as you are highly recommended but I’m not sure it was worth the money
I love coming to the Cowper's Oak because of the warm and friendly atmosphere, great menu/drinks selection and above all the excellent service. Well worth the 40 minutes walk from Olney.
Fairly basic looking inside. Warm welcome, clean, expert and efficient service and great food offering a really pleasant experience all round. Would not hesitate to return if in the area and would not hesitate to recommend to a friend.
Great food and great service. Thank you. We will back!
Beautiful village pub, no vegan options and vegetarian main priced the same as a meat main which didn't reflect value for money. Service was good.
Greet evening thank you - service from the waitress was awesome. We'll be back soon.
A real find! Our first visit and won’t be out last despite a forty five minute drive. Perfect in every way and set in a beautiful village too.
Loved the food and the staff. They were kind, professional and welcoming. Been there a few times now and everytime the atmosphere and acoustics let it down, it is so incredibly loud that it ruins the meal if you want to talk to the person next to, and elderly relatives (one with a hearing aid) really struggled.
Very enjoyable meal.Regretfully there was nothing gluten free in the deserts and my wife had to have ice cream. pleasant service will be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed family Easter Sunday lunch. Good food, good service and a nice and friendly atmosphere. Equally enjoyable any weekend evening and always good value for money.
We had not been to Cowpers Oak for a while and were all pleasantly surprised. The roast beef dinner was excellent and all the other meals were greatly enjoyed especially the goats cheese, spinach and sweet potato pie. We will definitely be back again soon.
