About The Cowpers Oak
We’re a village pub. Not a bar, not a restaurant, not even a gastropub, whatever that is. Just a great village pub – a cosy place where you’ll find roaring log fires, creeping purple wisteria around the lattice windows, muddy boots at the door, and local pub food cooked from scratch by the very brilliant Daniel.
We use the freshest fruit, vegetables (apart from our British frozen peas) and herbs we can get our hands on. Our head chef, Daniel Gibbons, swears by fresh, local produce and makes a mean Scotch egg with eggs produced from our own hens.
We had a lovely time celebrating 2 50th birthdays. A friendly pub, not intrusive - with wonderful freshly cooked food offering that would be at home in a high quality restaurant.
The roast potatoes and broccoli were undercooked but as I was on a first date I felt too embarrassed to mention it to our waitress I didn’t expect that as you are highly recommended but I’m not sure it was worth the money
I love coming to the Cowper's Oak because of the warm and friendly atmosphere, great menu/drinks selection and above all the excellent service. Well worth the 40 minutes walk from Olney.
Fairly basic looking inside. Warm welcome, clean, expert and efficient service and great food offering a really pleasant experience all round. Would not hesitate to return if in the area and would not hesitate to recommend to a friend.
Great food and great service. Thank you. We will back!
Beautiful village pub, no vegan options and vegetarian main priced the same as a meat main which didn't reflect value for money. Service was good.
Greet evening thank you - service from the waitress was awesome. We'll be back soon.
A real find! Our first visit and won’t be out last despite a forty five minute drive. Perfect in every way and set in a beautiful village too.
Loved the food and the staff. They were kind, professional and welcoming. Been there a few times now and everytime the atmosphere and acoustics let it down, it is so incredibly loud that it ruins the meal if you want to talk to the person next to, and elderly relatives (one with a hearing aid) really struggled.
Very enjoyable meal.Regretfully there was nothing gluten free in the deserts and my wife had to have ice cream. pleasant service will be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed family Easter Sunday lunch. Good food, good service and a nice and friendly atmosphere. Equally enjoyable any weekend evening and always good value for money.
We had not been to Cowpers Oak for a while and were all pleasantly surprised. The roast beef dinner was excellent and all the other meals were greatly enjoyed especially the goats cheese, spinach and sweet potato pie. We will definitely be back again soon.
First timers at this lovely village pub, didn’t know what to expect but the ladies serving us were first class and the food was great
Really enjoyed my Sunday lunch at the Cowpers Oak and thought the roast beef was delicious. Staff were very friendly and attentive and there was a good selection of drinks on offer. I have been coming to the pub since I was 17 (technically I am barred) and its great to see the pub doing well but still keeping its original charm.
Lovely, fresh Sunday roast. Will come back again. Thanks
Booked in last minute. Delicious Food especially the scotch egg starter and the venison burgers. Quick service and very friendly. Pleasantly busy yet not overly noisy. Will be coming back
Had a lovely lunch, very tasty and the hand cut chips are the best!
Although I appreciate it was Valentines day when we dined...We were out for a family birthday meal (hence 6pm) & there was nothing on the website to state there was going to be a set menu that evening. Fortunately the girls had a small portion of lasagne & a dessert. Though feel we over paid for them. Didn't complain as don't like to make a fuss.
Excellent food, & service with a smile. Would definitely go back and certainly recommend
Had a lovely evening 2 open fires, friendly service , good food and drink what more could you want
Great family meal, enjoyed by all.
We have already recommended to others, the home cooked pies were absolutely superb and we have confidence that other main courses would have been equally as good. The puds were outstanding and we will certainly be back.
Took advantage of the Wednesday offer. 2 courses for £15. Service friendly and food good, Had venison burger which I had plain but toppings were offered. Chunky chips especially nice. Had apple crumble for dessert which was very scrummy and just what was needed for a chilly night. Will be back again.
Pleasant pub but very quiet.
Lovely food and great service, highly recommend
