About The Cowpers Oak
We’re a village pub. Not a bar, not a restaurant, not even a gastropub, whatever that is. Just a great village pub – a cosy place where you’ll find roaring log fires, creeping purple wisteria around the lattice windows, muddy boots at the door, and local pub food cooked from scratch by the very brilliant Daniel.
We use the freshest fruit, vegetables (apart from our British frozen peas) and herbs we can get our hands on. Our head chef, Daniel Gibbons, swears by fresh, local produce and makes a mean Scotch egg with eggs produced from our own hens.
The soda in my lime and soda was rather flat.
An excellent venue in a fabulous village. Everything about our evening was brilliant. The wine list and selection of drinks at the bar were superb. The food was just right, not too much and not too little.
Staff very nice and welcoming. Nice food. We will def come back
The service was slow. We ordered drinks they took a while to come but it wasn't much of an issue but then the girl only bought one drink out and said the other one was being poured. This I think was forgotten about so my boyfriend had to go to the bar to ask again, the pub wasn't busy. The food was nice though.
Our first visit for a meal and all thoroughly enjoyable.
Fantastic cooking. Pan seared prawns were cooked to perfection and both the mozzarella, olive and sun kissed tomato burger and the walnut and Gorgonzola gnocchi were sublime. Thank you
Happiness for me is sitting on the porch of this pub on a warm summer's evening sipping a cold drink with my friends
Marvellous Sunday roast, as always :-)
Thank you for an absolutely delicious meal on Saturday night - the food was gorgeous and we were looked after beautifully by all the staff! 😊
Great lunch, lovely to be able to sit in the garden.
Lovely food. Great to be able to sit in the garden with the dog and have a nice family meal
Great pub in a lovely spot. Perfect for a sunny Sunday!
Have visited many times, always very welcoming, great service and great food.
Friendly service. Starters: Olives not as described (not pitted, no dressing); soup fine Main: Vegan tart wasn't a tart, vegetarian/salad very heavy on the balsamic vinegar Dessert: fine
We were celebrating my Mum's 88th birthday and the staff could not have made it more enjoyable.
Loved our meal at Cowpers on Father’s Day. The staff were excellent and the food was very good. Only place to improve was perhaps the dessert: £5 was a lot for very small portions of dessert. Thanks!
Much improved food and atmosphere in this lovely country pub and the pie was packed with meat!
Always have a lovely meal here Lovely atmosphere no rushing Service is excellent Have been a few times and will definitely go back
Great pub in a beautiful, scenic country village of local stone cottages with thatched rooves. Lovely hanging baskets outside. Friendly, happy, , welcoming, homely, family atmosphere. Proper traditional pub food, excellently cooked. Sensibly sized portions so you can fit in a starter and dessert as well as your main course. Home made cakes on the bar. A very enjoyable visit. Thank you, Cowper's Oak!
A local convivial pub and eating house. 6 of us visited and it was all very good.
Friendly staff, great value food, get some provence rosé on the list and then it would be perfect!
I am afraid that we were very disappointed with our visit to the Cowpers Oak. Service was very slow. Our food took forever to arrive. When it did it was below standard; sausages over cooked, chips under cooked and the presentation very poor. We won’t be going back in a hurry.
A very pleasant and tasty lunchtime meal. Generous portions, and good service.
Lovely food and excellent service. We always enjoy the Cowpers Oak!
