About The Cornwall Hotel
At The Cornwall we are proud to offer a variety of dining options to suit the whole family. Choose to dine in our Restaurant, Lounge Bar or on our stunning Terrace in the summer months.
Our Head Chef carefully selects the best Cornish ingredients to produce every dish on our menus. These vary from just what you need meals to decadent dishes with the wow factor.
Loved the fish cake starter, wasn't totally into the spatchcock chicken and corn main but probably my fault for picking the wrong choice
Lovely staff, excellent service, would defiantly refer a friend
Our stay was for my daughter’s 12th birthday. We arrived to petals, heart towel sculpture and birthday card on her bed. The ladies in the Spa made her pedicure extra special with bubbly foot bath and massage. Afternoon tea in the Laura Ashley tea room was disappointing and I was charged for the surprise birthday Mocktail, the hot part of breakfast was very small. However the staff were amazing and my daughter had a very special birthday weekend
My husband and I had a wonderful 3 course Sunday lunch. As my husband suffered a stroke and is paralysed and unable to speak it can be daunting trying new venues. Not so at the Royal Cornwall Hotel. Parking and entering the hotel and dining room was effortless. Our waiter was patient and considerate. I explained that my husband had issues swallowing and that he would prefer to have vegetables that were not al dente and also asked if it was possible to adapt the desert. Nothing was too much trouble. TOH choose the mushroom soup, Hake followed by lemon posset. My mussels were perfect, the mushroom gnocchi divine and the opera cake finished off a lovely meal. I was astounded by the large selection of vegetables that accompanied the mains...who eats that much? However the selection and variety was superb.
The savoury afternoon tea was incredible!
The hotel is stunning with superb food. Staff are friendly and helpful.
I took my friend for her birthday and we had a wonderful time x
After visiting twice prior and deciding to come back after a few years after we had our holiday to New York cancelled I must say I was very disappointed. Upon arrival we were met by a member of the reception team whose customer service was quite frankly poor at best! The lady in question was entirely not interested and this was not the first impression I remembered from previous stays. Secondly I was asked to pay for the reservation up front?? Never been asked to do this at such a location, would always pay on check out for the whole stay and any extras, I personally felt this was derogatory and made me feel like we weren’t trusted to pay!! When I got to our room it was clear it had t been cleaned properly, dust, marks on the walls in bathroom along with a hideous render job on the toilet roll holder! Finally I had the spatchcock chicken for food, I recall the food being first class on previous stays! Not the case anymore, this was bland and tasteless! I have to say that I would have expected more from this hotel for the money paid and given that this was our wedding anniversary! A token card to say happy anniversary didn’t quite cut it I’m afraid, would not recommend your hotel again I’m afraid.
Lovely tea room- just a few tables and away from main bar which was nice and made it feel more select. Food was lovely as was our waitress. We used a gift token we had but prices were a little excessive compared with quality hotels nearby.
My parents thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the staff were lovely
Excellent afternoon tea at the Laura Ashley tea room. Food was great. Expensive but a lovely experience.
we had afternoon tea which although was presented nicely the waiter did not tell us what was on our plates, we were served loose leaf tea without tea strainers and the scones were very doughy in the middle. i would say very expensive for what we had
Fantastic service and impeccably clean. Great spa facilities. Wonderful food, we had a lovely break
The food was brilliant and the staff were great.
I was given a Spa experience with afternoon tea for my birthday from my son. Was not sure what to expect, but all the services and staff were fantastic. The afternoon tea was the best I have ever had and will be back soon to try out the restaurant.
Excellent thank you
Very nice stay, we found the staff to be either helpful or slightly tired and grumpy though. I know some people have there good and bad days so we will forgive. I think the thing that annoyed us strangely more than anything was signage. We parked in car park 1/2 and we had no idea where to go. There was a couple of ladies in the car park too that we asked where to go and they said they had no idea and were in the same boat. we walked up to a building we hoped was the hotel and not the spa, and came to an outside eating area but still had no idea which way to go. We did last minute see a sign hidden stupidly in bush at the top of the path though telling us where to go, but still accidentally ended up walking through the restaurant with our luggage. Simple solution is to make some signage!
Enjoyed the whole afternoon.. Very tranquil setting.. Hopefully will have the energy to walk around the grounds next.. The high tea was lovely.. However cakes were a bit to rich.. The scones were lovely.. A bit of fruit cake would be lovely??
A beautiful setting . I had the tea as part of a spa session I do think it's not unreasonable to expect more than one cup of tea or coffee but was told that would be an extra charge . Hence a lower rating for value for money .
I treated my sister to a spa and afternoon tea experience and the day was just perfect in every way! We both had a massage then enjoyed the infinity pool, bubble pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The sun shone and we relaxed the the max on the most fabulous double seatered loungers! Then had the most delicious afternoon tea under the sun umberells overlooking the beautiful lush gardens. Thank you to everyone who made our experience so fantastic! All the staff were exemplary. It’s our second visit and we’ve decided to make it an annual event! Pure luxury! We Can’t wait til our next visit!
Fantastic afternoon staff helpful and pleasant
We have stayed a couple off times as well The new tea room Is great Many thanks Diane
Staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was delicious!
This was our second visit for a cream tea, encouraged by a very helpful restaurant manager & chef having previously catered for our daughter's allergies with a special vegan & gluten free cream tea. This time we brought more friends & again were extremely impressed with the friendly service & personalised catering. We were treated to a range of gluten free & vegan sweet treats, from light fluffy lemon cake, chocolate brownie, blueberry marshmallow & more. All of us, even those of us with no allergies or special diets, thoroughly enjoyed all the sweet delights that accompanied a delicious cream tea. Thank you to the chef & manager who responded enthusiastically to my teen daughter's opinion & own baking experience. We all enjoyed our visit to The Cornwall's tea room. I'm sure we'll visit again & be sure to recommend you to others. Thank you
Our host Lee was amazing, really made our day! Thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink (we had Afternoon Tea) and we will be back!
