About The Cornwall Hotel
At The Cornwall we are proud to offer a variety of dining options to suit the whole family. Choose to dine in our Restaurant, Lounge Bar or on our stunning Terrace in the summer months.
Our Head Chef carefully selects the best Cornish ingredients to produce every dish on our menus. These vary from just what you need meals to decadent dishes with the wow factor.
Very disappointed with the menu. No sensible priced steaks and not a great deal of choice on the rest of the menu. It says you offer a variety of dining options but when we enquired about this we were told there was no other choice apart from the menu we were given.
The 'Set Menu' was very nice but we realised during dining that there was another menu available. We were not asked if we wanted to see other / alternative menus. We would have been prepared to pay a supplement if required. Apart from this point the dining experience was very good and staff friendly.
Perfect weekend away
I thought the afternoon tea was not great it was well presented but not a great selection the bread on the sandwiches were coloured and of strange flavoring and the fillings were not very nice, I think it would be good to have a choice. We were not offered a choice.
Service is extremely SLOW. Our drinks arrived after our first course. Bar area served by 1 person so again the wait is long. Now actually sitting at breakfast and been waiting for over 30 mins for tea or even for someone to take our order. Brings down the whole experience.
Hotel is beautiful and set in lovely grounds, had the most amazing treatments in the spa my only slight criticism is the spa is lacking the wow factor and it’s very easy to get lost, other than that would go again 😁
A birthday treat for my friend. absolutely fabulous. Will be back.
All staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was tasty & well presented. We had a very enjoyable evening.
Delicious assortment of sandwiches, cakes and desserts. Even provided a vegetarian substitute with no bother. Looking forward to our next visit.
THIS WAS OUR SECOND VISIT THE MANAGER OF THE TEA ROOM COULDNT DO ENOUGH FOR US AND WE WILL RETURN
Generally very poor , overpriced room untidy , very slow bar service and food . Pool cold .
Absolutely lovely food and your service staff were patient. However, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive and we nearly ended up without one afternoon tea after some confusion until we said we didn't get everything we'd ordered. The food was great, very tasty and displayed beautifully.
Slow service in the restaurant and at breakfast we were unaware there is a restricted menus if your staying on package deal with very limited choice. breakfast was barely cooked and the staff need training in customer service techniques disappointing not least because we have stayed at the hotel several times previously the rooms are rated in a strange way superior is apparently better than luxury and they were not stocked very well with things like bottled water shower gel or soap etc.we had to ask for this it's like the hotel is stalled for cash and cannot supply these things like they used to.we still didn't get the items by the way. That said the afternoon tea was very good .and the setting superb.
The food was nicely cooked but nothing special. I have a bad cold so ordered a hot toddy at the bar . The barman said he didn’t know how to make it so O told him whisky , lemon , honey and hot water . He got all the ingredients and I showed him how to make it and then he charged me £8 . I asked him why so much when I had asked for the cheapest whisky ? He said he had given me a double bus I said I didn’t ask for a double and he never asked me if I wanted a double- he said he had assumed I wanted one . I said you should only charge me for a single then and he said he couldn’t as his stock would be wrong !! So I paid for his mistake and there was no apology ! Very annoying at the end of a nice evening !
Excellent. What a fantastic place to visit, stay and all food and service superb!
Beautiful hotel and spa facilities, very friendly and efficient staff
The service especially at breakfast was very slow. both days we waited over 30 minutes for something very simple.
Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. Our food was delicious and we all were able to have what we wanted from the varied menu (by its skin if our teeth, we had the last 2 ribeye steaks which was very early in the night to run out as we were the first in the restaurant). The atmosphere in the restaurant was sophisticated but not stuffy and our daughter had a wonderful night to celebrate her 21st birthday.
Absolutely excellent. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too Much trouble. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. The room was very comfortable and clean.
Warm welcome. Friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the Gluten Free afternoon tea which was delicious. Highly recommend and I will be returning again.
Spent a very enjoyable stay at The Cornwall. Staff lovely and helpful
Lovely, Lovely, Lovely, could not fault the service, food & room, we were made to feel very welcome, the afternoon savory and sweet teas were amazing. A lovely relaxing weekend and I am sure we will return.
Lovely meal, able to cater well for gluten free diet, excellent and friendly service. Even gave us some cucumber sticks for our 6 month old to gnaw on!
A wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Service is friendly and goes beyond that found in many establishments. Always a joy to eat here.
Attended for the lunch platter as part of the spa deal package. The seats we were seated at were very low compared to the table height so requested to move to a higher level table where then the seats were low and the table very high, so we had to sit on the pillows. We were offered water and were not offered to purchase any other drinks, we were left waiting 30 minutes despite a booked table and knowing the pre-orer. The platter was extremely disappointing after such a wait.If garlic is not to your taste then there was not much to eat at all. We have never been served raw garlic cloves, along with two small slices of garlic bread and hummus, onions, a few beans and a small cheese ball. The display was lovely but not very filling, some crudités or even a soup and sandwich would be much more appetising and filling and cheaper. The mini cakes were delicious. The service could be improved greatly and we did not feel the choice of food worked.
