About The Commodore Inn
Here at the Commodore we are all about putting that twist on British Classics. Our ethos is simple, we want you to have a proper Steak & Ale Pie, but we want that pie to be the best Steak & Ale pie you’ve ever eaten.
Serving food 7 days a week, whether you are looking for a warm pub atmosphere or a scenic bay view in our newly refurbished restaurant we can accommodate to all your needs
Great atmosphere on New Year’s Eve happy helpful staff great live music. Food was a little average but I would definitely try the food again
Great food and very friendly service, would definitely recommend and will be returning in the new year.
Friendly staff but a bit stretched by busy lunchtime.
Made our way upstairs. Found our table, sat down and waited for around 15 mins. Waiter was serving and past us about 5 times. Not once did they say hello or welcome us. I had to go and get my own menu. Food was adequate. But vegatable s was over cooked. Did not feel welcome by the staff. Would not go back.
We didn’t eat at The Commodore fortunately - walking from the car park to the Commodore there were youths outside shouting and swearing at people in the car park whilst smoking by the entrance. Inside I noticed lots of very young looking clientele and I would question their legal age to be drinking, the bar was wet and sticky as were the tables. We sat in a booth opposite the dart board and the noise from above was unbelievable - the whole place was not conducive for an evening meal. In fact it felt quite threatening and out of control. Happy to discuss if needed as this may be disappointing but is honest feedback.
warm and welcoming pub will be booking again next year
Very good portion sizes
Staff friendly, food was good. Would visit again if we were in the area.
A big thank you to all the staff they all went out of there way to help make my husbands birthday a great afternoon the buffet was very nice
Food was great and staff very obliging. Service was very quick and food was hot. A great night out, thank you Commodore. Good all round .
fantastic stay, room with excellent views and good size. had the mussels and chips superb, side of onion rings the best I have ever had . partner had the chicken burger this was excellent too, no need for the potato rossti on it though. would definitely stay again. never been to grange over sands before beautiful place then called at cartmel , this was a very pleasant weekend, thank you
Excellent value and a very pleasant experience
Friendly helpful staff. Food a little cold. More vegetarian choice would be good especially for the Sunday lunch option. Fantastic location amazing views. Would try again
We had a lovely meal. All of the food was delicious and the service was great.
Lovely evening, great food
Breakfast was chaos. Nothing was set up, waitress was bringing items one at a time with 5 minute intervals. Cornflakes.... Eventually milk... Spoon later on. Cups a while later, Coffee grounds on top of filter, couldn't drink but was replaced, didn't get alpen, didn't get juice. Was told orders forgotten, 1 guest left, got breakfast eventually, got given toast that had been stood for a while, not even able to butter it, no plate for toast, tried to butter on table. Breakfast was overcooked yet cold, poor quality and uncomfortably awkward.
Best fish and chips I've had anywhere!
Charlotte and all the staff looked after us all really well. Food was lovely and service was great. no complaints from 31 Ramblers.
Staff are so lovely and work so hard always with a smile on their face. Location is great. The only thing that lets this place down are the rooms. They are in desperate need of a refurb. We will eat here again but not stay over. Such a shame.
We booked for 13 of us for a family meal the night before our wedding. As requested, we pre ordered and nothing seemed too much trouble. However, when we arrived, the greeting we recieved were not great and seemed shocked by such a large booking number like it was some kind of joke. There was no service the whole evening, everything we hd to ask for including missing meals, missing drinks, no cutlery, no sauces, no napkins. Each time we had to ask, we literally had to try and flag someone down and it was not great. The room upstairs was very hot and we had to ask several times if we could open a door as it was making it very unbearable. When coming to pay, neither card machine would work and it took around 20 minutes for us to pay at the bar downstairs after going back and forth to different tills. Again, it just seemed like some kind of joke to the staff who didn't seem bothered about it one bit nor seem to know what they was doing. Food was nice but due to very poor service I would not recommend.
Really enjoyed our meal all starters and mains were great massive portions and great value for money, great atmosphere and choice was perfect, we run Meathop Fell Caravan Club Site and will be recommending our members to you
Outstanding level of service and care throughout. When we were there there was a lively but polite crowd of regulars on the bar downstairs. The views from the front of the hotel are spectacular. There is a beautiful energy here also and is very close to the train station and the promenade. Highly recommended. The food was proper pub food cooked to absolute perfection with the most meaty steak pie ever created for sure! Rooms were to a high standard and cleaned with care.
Friendly staff lovely views, great food and wine
