About The Commodore Inn
Here at the Commodore we are all about putting that twist on British Classics. Our ethos is simple, we want you to have a proper Steak & Ale Pie, but we want that pie to be the best Steak & Ale pie you’ve ever eaten.
Serving food 7 days a week, whether you are looking for a warm pub atmosphere or a scenic bay view in our newly refurbished restaurant we can accommodate to all your needs
Good food, lovely and hot served by Jess. Really friendly and welcoming . Thank you
We had a booking for a table but told to just sit anywhere! service was slow, staff were very young and inexperienced and it wasn’t good value for money. I wouldn’t eat here again or recommend it.
Fantastic pub !! Beautiful food best steak I have ever had, would recommend to anyone visiting grange over sands
We enjoyed our meal the food was fantastic definitely recommend
We are a small walking group of 15 friends who visited the Commodore on 23 March 2019 at the end of a 12 mile circular walk from Grange. The table reservation I made a few days beforehand was dealt with in an efficient and friendly way. I was asked to phone in our food order during the afternoon of our walk and this too was dealt with very efficiently. We arrived at the Commodore at 6.00pm as agreed to find our table waiting for us in the upstairs restaurant from where we had good views across the bay. Food and service was excellent, choice of real ales and wines was good and when we left to catch our train home there were 15 very satisfied customers. Well done to all staff at the Commodore, you gave us the perfect end to what had been a fine day of walking. Regards, Ken Robinson.
Whilst we all fully appreciate the anti swearing policy you have posted in your entrance lobby it did put a bit a damper on our evening because everyone (there were 12 of us) was being very conscious of it. Please understand we are not people who use swears words in every sentence but I will admit they do slip in occasionally. Apart form that we all thought the venue and food were great but the service was a little lacking (maybe there were not enough staff?) also the white wine was warm.
This was a terrible experience and I diubt we will ever visit again. We overheard a staff member at the bar intimating there were service problems owing to a large party. However we were shown to our table then sat for over half an hour before any staff member spoke to us again. We were aware that some other customers had waited so long for their desserts they cancelled them. In light of this we decided to not stay any longer and left. I struggle to understand why a pre-booked table of 13 customers should cause such problems. I am sorry we didn't get the chance to experience the good side of what The Commodore has to offer but in hindsight I should have taken notice of earlier trip advisor reviews and not booked in advance in the first place.
Really good food and friendly staff. Excellent value for money. I was expecting the food to me more like the food you get in a standard pub, but it was definitely more like the quality of food you get in an expensive restaurant and presentation was excellent. Will 100% be returning!
The best roast dinner that we have eaten in a very long time!
