Absolutely over priced for the food you serve.
Brought my 91 year old mother for a pre-theatre dinner last Saturday. We were handed the pre-theatre menu at €32 for two courses or €37 for three. My mother ordered the fish of the day sea bream. A large dinner plate containing a piece of fish the size of the palm of your hand with two asparagus stalks was served up. My mother could not believe the miserable portion. She ordered mashed potatoe and asparagus at €5.50 per portion. It was the worst value I have had in a long time. We will not be back.
Service was a bit chaotic and slow, perhaps because it was New Year's Day. Staff very friendly, though. Price exorbitant for size of portions and especially main course with no sides included.
Lovely meal in a lovely hotel. Staff all very friendly and pleasant. Would recommend.
Staff were fantastic and helpful but I can’t say the same for the food, I had a steak which was literally uncooked and very very grisly, my husband had the sole which was quite dry and not very appealing. We quietly mentioned it to the waitress who was told to take 10 percent off our bill. Beautiful restaurant but cannot say the same for the food sorry.
Fantastic food and service. I would highly recommend a visit to The Coburg for anyone.
Lovely meal really enjoyed our evening. Staff so nice and service excellent. We'll definitely be back!
I loved the decor and the staff were lovely and very helpful. It's the perfect location for a bite to eat before the Concert Hall.
The food was just sub standard.
Really great service, staff are very friendly and highly professional.
We ate mid afternoon so was expecting thevplace to be very quiet and it was. Suited us. Room is lovely, food delicious, however the service was very slow... that does not take from the staff themselves who were lovely. We will be back
Mains were a little pricey for a lunch given that they came with absolutely no sides and even chips cost €5 extra. A nice place for a treat though. Lovely decor and relaxed atmosphere.
There were practically as many serving staff as customers on the evening I was there. However, it was impossible to get any attention from them. They marched around, looking to neither left or right. When I finally was able to ask for the bill (by shouting), I was told that I would be better to walk to the desk at the entrance. Even so, I had to wait a long time.
Lovely late lunch on a Friday afternoon perfect way to end a working week.
enjoyable pre concert evening
For a special family occasion with guests who had diverse and specifc requirements, it was an absolutely perfect evening. One guest commented on the comfort and food that "it was like having a beautiful dinner in the comfort of your own home". Exceptional food and service - every one of my 24 guests loved it. Could not recommend The Coburg and its staff highly enough. Thank you for a perfect evening!
We were going to a show in the NCH and decided to have some food beforehand. There was a very warm welcome and special pre theatre menu. My wife had the Caesar Salad and I had Prawn Cocktail for starters. They were superb. Our mains were steak and Sea Bream. Portions weren’t huge but just right. We were finished at 7:30 having arrived at 6:50. We didn’t opt for desert but we had time to relax and then amble our way the Concert Hall. It was a lovely start to the night. Blessings R
Just to emphasise from the outset here, the food was delicious and the staff very pleasant and courteous. But unfortunately, the service overall was not good enough on the day. We booked a table for four for 6pm (not 20:15 as this review page's details state) on a Friday night, and selected from the pre-theatre menu (the show began at 7:30pm in the National Concert Hall across the road). This should have been plenty of time for two courses but our main dishes (first course) were still not served by 6:45pm, and getting to the show in time required asking for the coats before the bill was even settled. We just couldn't understand why every other table seemed to get served (in many cases two courses) long before we got our first one, despite many of them arriving later than us. In fairness though, as stated at the outset, the serving staff were very kind and courteous, and apologised profusely for the challenges they faced from the kitchen as they put it (we probably could have queried what this meant further but left it be). They kindly offered dessert and tea/coffee after the show free of charge - two of the party of four couldn't stay until then but two did come back in and were very pleased with this gesture.
A very enjoyable pre theatre evening
Great pre theatre menu, well priced. Excellent staff providing superb service in comfortable surroundings. We will be back. Jim Murphy
It could not have been better, all of the staff and the food was lovely. A really great night, I will definitely be back. Glenn
Food was good but server got orders very wrong. Eggs benedict came out as lobster benedict. One guest asked for well done poached egg but this was confused with another guest. The water decided to ignore this when he collected our plates and one plate had only runny egg yokes and the other had just well done yokes left!
Very good restaurant. The atmosphere is perfect and the food is very interesting. Thanks
Service was excellent!!! Food amazing, cocktails-best we ever had. Really made our evening relaxing, yet memorable.
