About The Coach House
Voted Cheshire's Best Pub in 2016, we have the perfect blend of a traditional (well, we have been around since 1840...) and modern setting. In addition to our award winning restaurant we also have 8 luxurious rooms upstairs, for those wanting to rest their heads after a busy day in the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
Head Chef Matt Scard-Jones and his team serve up delicious food every day, taking inspiration from the seasons and the great produce available locally. Our menu covers a wide selection of everyone’s favourite dishes; from light bites to a gluten free menu, we have you covered! And what goes well with great food? A great drink. Local ale, carefully selected wines and traditional tea and coffee...take your pick!
Toilets weren’t very clean and had little or no toilet roll in.
Excellent evening. Good food, would highly recommend
Fabulous food. Looking forward to my next visit.
Staff were all lovely despite being busy. Food absolutely delicious and enjoyed by all. We had duck, lamb pie and gammon. Table beautiful - loved the Xmas crackers and fresh flowers and loved that we were given water without having to ask. Will definitely be back
New Menu great - still the best value 'eatery' in Chester - always an enjoyable experience.
There is nothing we could suggest that could improve either the food, the service and the staff !! All was absolutely top notch. You have a great team x it's a shame we live so far away (Nottingham) otherwise we would be regular visitor's.
Me and my partner go to chester for the Christmas market every year. And we always make a point to call at the coach house either for a lovely festive drinks and this year a lovely festive meal and drinks and will do so every year because the food was outstanding the staff are so friendly and very welcoming especially the young girl who served us nothing was to much trouble for her .thank you so much coach house for the lovely evening. We will definitely be back again 😁
the service was great the staff where great and the food was excellent value would recommend it
Excellent food, was looking forward to the Sunday roast but unfortunately they had sold out by early evening, sure it would have been delicious
The Coach House is a lovely pub. The service was fantastic throughout our stay, the room was large and comfortable and the food was all well presented and tasty.
Generally really good. Only real complaint was pre-theatre menu as displayed on website was not available. Only Xmas menu. It was November 8th. Xmas menu??? Otherwise all good and will use again as we go to Storyhouse quite often.
Good value for money
Excellent varied menu with vegan options
I booked the coach house as we were going to the Chester theatre for a show. The website and a poster in the entrance of the restaurant, advertised a 'pre theatre ' menu. When we arrived we were told they don't do that any more, and the waiter had been asking for it to be taken off the website. When I mentioned that it was advertised at the entrance too, I was not given a proper explanation as to why they don't offer this menu anymore. We had a lovely meal, and I have eaten there before and will return. But I felt that I was a bit of an inconvenience when asking about the advertised pre theatre choice.
Food was beautiful and it is a lovely setting inside and out. Service was ok but a little slow and difficult getting attention when wanting to order more drinks. Also, special offer wine half price, we had a couple of bottles between the 4 of us, then wanted another glass each, the two glasses cost more than the bottle, I would expect a good server to point that out to us when ordering.Hi
Excellent staff and food.
We had a great time , and thought 6pm was plenty of time to get to a 7:30 event but became a bit tight understandably as you were so busy - will be back
Food was absolutely fantastic...really flavourful and very well presented. The service was a little slow but hat may have been because it was at the end of a long Sunday service.
Booked on line on arriving found a large booking was seated 20+, was told there was a delay ok, but 45 mins later no food, asked then food arrived !?, Realising the delay ordered a sweet but asked if it would arrive in 15 mins as we had a theatre booking , was told no guarantee! Ordered trifle and cheese board , easy to doo, both from fridgeci would have thought , we left, spoke to manager who came out with large booking only one chef ! So if they have a full restaurant they can not cope, 3rd time in the last few months we have had an issue, no more .we were given a discount but evening was disappointing 6 months ago was a very good eatery, so what's gone wrong ?
From ordering one starter and 4 main courses at 1750. the starter came pretty much straight away and was lovely. The mains took approx 1 hour to arrive. I ordered the Salmon, king prawn and haddock pasta to be given a padta with very little pasta but lots of sauce and no salmon. When i questioned why there was no salmon in the salmon pasta a few minutes later i was delivered a bowl of salmon in a sauce which was very nice but a totally different sauce to my pasta!! My niece ordered the pasta off the childrens meal and it was like a bowl of sauce with very little pasta in it.... very disappointing. The desserts were nice.
Friendly staff pleasant atmosphere, good reasonably priced food
Food fantastic, atmosphere lovely. Unfortunately one of the waiting on staff were not very smiley at all and I'm not actually to sure if they said thank you when they took our order. The others were lovely.
Was nice meal before theatre.
Fantastic accommodation, friendly staff and amazing food we really enjoyed our night at The Coach House.
Beautiful food with a great setting & service !!!
