About The Club House
Focusing on fresh local produce and seafood, diners visiting The Club House can expect a relaxed mid century modern interior with stunning sea views. The open kitchen will allow diners to witness first-hand the excitement that goes into cooking the sustainable, locally sourced produce.
Initially the waiter’s manner was a little abrupt. However as the evening progressed and we became accustomed to him he had a better rapport. It was really helpful being introduced to Charlie the chef who explained about the different fish and how they would be cooked. Overall a very pleasant evening.
We were very much looking forward to breakfast here, having previously eaten at The Hive. The Club House has been beautifully renovated and is in a perfect spot. We were looking for a gourmet breakfast, not a budget full English, and the menu was tempting. We asked for some toast to go with our bacon and eggs (£12.95) and were given one slice from a small sourdough loaf and one mini jar of jam which cost £3.50. The bacon and eggs is described as 'confit and grilled smoky streaky bacon'. It was very tasty, very salty and came as a chunk, like belly pork, not in slices. Three of us ordered this and half of one portion of bacon was a big lump of fat that was impossible to cut through. The other two portions contained a lot of fat too - not meltingly tender as it would have been on well cooked belly pork. We also ordered kedgeree which was delicious and light - basmati rice with smoked haddock chunks, leeks, broad beans and caraway seeds. It wasn't creamy, and it had no taste of curry, so it was more of a modern interpretation (and was improved by the addition of hollandaise sauce which had come with the bacon & eggs). The management listened to our comments and refunded the cost of two dishes and offered us free coffees (which we declined). They told us it was the first time they had served breakfast. I hope it gets better! We left disappointed and £50 poorer.
Good Maitre D, who noticed my salad was missing before I could point it out - well done!
Great little restaurant. Food was delicious and served very well.
Thoroughly enjoyed our Mother’s Day lunch. Very relaxing and fabulous food. We will be back!!!
I visited The Club House with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. We had the loveliest time - both the food and the place itself were outstanding, and they made my birthday extra special with a cocktail and a sweet treat on the house. Thank you to Stephen and the team for the fantastic service. Will be definitely be going again!
Great Food, good atmosphere and the staff and service was excellent, but I feel a bottle of Sauvignon blanc @ £36 was ridiculously over priced at London prices!
Becoming a regular. Really like the manager’s style. Friendly but not overbearing. Efficiently keeps an eye on all that is happening in the restaurant .
We were disappointed. Food was lukewarm.
Worth the lengthy drive to get there,
Very busy but still very good service. Food excellent that’s why we keep coming back.
Good value 'Friday Night' offer. Food was very tasty.
Had a fantastic Friday Lunch last week with the parents. Service and food excellent.
Really well cooked fresh fish in a nice spot. Staff were welcoming and helpful Please find out some more information about the fascinating history of the place
Great location (even on a stormy night!) I guess the summer months would have dining later in the evening? As there’s no where else to go locally.
GREAT FOOD BRILLIANT FUN YOUNG SERVICE
We both had Hake fish cakes to start followed by skate. All excellent and the skate was the the best I have ever tasted. We had heritage potatoes and greens as sides both of which were disappointingly lacking in flavour for some reason. We did not have dessert but had coffee instead which was very good. We had house white which was also surprisingly good. We had the Friday £50.00 menu which is very good value marred only by the additional £7.80 for the two lack lustre side dishes.
Great, as always keep up the good work
Wish we had known about this place earlier, south Dorset needs more great restaurant destinations and this is certainly one!
Delightful service, delicious food, we can’t wait to visit again. Leona Sasse
Very enjoyable, as always
All really good Thank you
We had a fantastic table for 6, everyone rated their meals 10 out of 10. I had the rib of beef, others had chicken and pork, all were accompanied by super veggies, each bursting with flavour and clearly prepared with care and skill. It was great, the two course deal was great value for money, starters and puds were delightful as well, on the hole a faultless lunch served with a smile and character. Highly recommended
So great to find such a good eatery with all the right components. A real gem and right on the doorstep. Thank you for the delicious food and great personal service.
We booked last minute via the website and although they didn’t have a record of our booking they accommodated is for lunch. The Monkfish Curry was warning and tasty on a wild windy day, The fish and chips were delicious - the batter light and crisp and mushy peas left me wanting more! Staff were warm and friendly. Will be back.
