About The Club House
Focusing on fresh local fish and seafood, diners visiting The Club House can expect an upmarket, relaxed interior which boasts a 1930’s 'members club' atmosphere. With panoramic sea views and a theatrical experience for guests seated at the chef's table, the open kitchen will allow diners to witness first-hand the excitement that goes into cooking the sustainable, locally sourced produce.
Great , informal but well cooked food , especially fish in curries and stews as well as grilled etc . The location is well worth the drive
My fish soup was poor. Little seasoning or taste. The other family members enjoyed their meals.
The food was great apart from my steak which i asked for medium rare and came well done, however the service was poor as was the attitude of the staff. It seemed disjointed with no one knowing who was looking after our table, and a lot of inexperienced waiting staff. One member of our group found a large spider on his chair and was trying to pick it up to put it out when a member of staff just came by and stamped on it, laughed and walked off. our food took nearly an hour to come out and when i queried this the first time i was told it was on its way, i queried again with a senior member of staff and was told it was because we ordered after a large group, no apology. When asked how our food was i mentioned the steak and my plate was whipped away from me without asking if i wanted another. When the steak returned it was with the comment "lets see if i can get this one right". Generally the staff were off which is a shame as it's such a lovely setting and the food really is very good if not a little overpriced.
There were 8 of us plus a baby and all 8 Christmas f us thought a great experience and we hope to return.
This was our first visit to the club house and we will definitely be back. Food delicious and setting delightful. Service was good and the staff extremely friendly but they were just busy and not enough to go around!
Lovely meal that helped us to show off the local area and cuisine to friends who had never visited this part of the world. Thank you.
Excellent service - delicious food
We had a wonderful last evening to our week away. Even with two small children you were so welcoming and they had such fun exploring the garden. The food was utterly delicious, beautifully presented, the setting was informal yet so pretty. We loved the raised beds in the garden! We WILL be back. Again and again. Thank you for being the icing on the cake to our holiday! Sophie Hunter
Excellent food. Attentive staff. Pleasant surroundings. Would recommend!
We all had the fish and chips which were really good. Well presented and the batter stayed really crispy till w finished. My husband was disappointed with the size of his fish it was the smallest out of the 4.
Very lovely location. Facilities are top notch and a good atmosphere. Front of house although pleasant could be more welcoming with a little more warmth perhaps.
Another lovely meal at The Club House. Great staff and the food was delicious.
Excellent service, delicious food, amazing cocktails and a fabulous location.
I have eaten with you a number of times. However this is the first time for a number of months. in my opinion:- You quality of food/meals has declined as has your management. The waiter was good. I shall not be returning or recommending you. You do not give value for money.
We were really disappointed with The Club House. This was our first visit and we were so looking forward to it - especially as it was my birthday. Unfortunately we both chose the same meal which was rather tasteless. This was the fish stew. It had only two types of fish - salmon and a white fish - a lot of undercooked onions and a wishy-washy liquid. We also thought, from the website, that it would be quite smart - not really. Such a pity.
Food fresh, nicely presented and beautifully cooked and tasty. Pricey but great for a treat.
Pleasant serving staff just a little slow on drinks and extra bread needed 3 reminders!
Fresh and tasty food, casual but stylish atmosphere. Great evening
Went with high expectations on the interior and atmosphere given the blurb about a 1930s members club. The reality is a pretty standard restaurant interior with some tables getting a much better view and atmosphere than others. I think the restaurant is ok but nothing new or different in terms of the ambience or menu. For them to achieve this they need to have a separate bar area, better more spacious layout of tables and improve the ambience...too much background noise from the back kitchen, crashing around by the staff- the acoustics are all wrong and not very relaxing. I really don't understand why the overflow car park has been placed in front of the restaurant - who wants to look at their own car while eating dinner?? I want to see the view!
How not to manage a restaurant. The head waiter was extremely rude and behaved towards my wife in a totally unprofessional and unacceptable way.
Drinks almost as expensive as the food. Food all cooked from fresh. Good selection of fish.
The location of this restaurant is superb and the fish and the gin menu likewise. The service from the guy who greeted us at 11.57am saying, a couple of times, ‘We don’t start serving til 12 but you can sit down’ let the side down rather... why not say, ‘Welcome, can we get you a drink? Then we’ll be over with menus in a few moments.’ The general service was better than this but first impressions do count...
We have been coming to this part of Dorset for very many years and have eaten at Hive beach since its inception as it has always been superb. The experience at the Club House, much enhanced by Peter, was a very pleasant one and the food, surroundings and decor were much enjoyed. The only thing that jarred was the wine glasses, classic 1970s garage forecourt special offer style, and out of keeping with the rest of the stylish establishment.
Thank you for an excellent lunch Relaxed service in a beautiful location We look forward to or next visit
My first visit was to be welcomed by friendly, efficient and well trained staff. As a foodie I am thrilled that I found The Clubhouse on a recent trip to West Bexington. I was joined by a fellow foodie who was equally delighted by your restaurant. We had 3 courses and chose a very nice Rose to accompany the meal which was perfection..thank you Charlie. We will return with friends. Worth the drive from Somerset.
