Really enjoyable.Although service a little slow staff very pleasant and helpful
Reception happy extremely helpful. Italian lady on reception did above and beyond what most would have done to help me find my mobile phone. Waiters and bar staff happy, helpful, talkative. First class. Food good but portions maybe on smallish side. Room this time was smallish and not worth the £260 paid. However I will still visit this hotel.Previous rooms were larger and at the time less money. Overall and excellent hotel with 5 star staff. One small point be careful where you park your car.Pigeons leave many messages all over!
Lovely meal and good wine in nice surroundings with great service.
Lovely hotel, excellent staff and a very enjoyable stay. We shall return if in the area.
I can’t fault the Close for service and quality of food. My friends and I had a wonderful meal.
Bedroom could do with refreshing. Bed and bedding also rather tired looking. Smoking on terrace near open windows and while eating not pleasant. Staff all very helpful and pleasant.
We had a wonderful weekend at The Close for our anniversary. Our room was beautiful and the hotel very romantic. The staff were very attentive. The food was amazing.
Relaxing, most enjoyable stay
The new menu and price system are an improvement in that the portions are more generous and it felt like better value for money. The food and service are excellent quality.
We had a spacious quiet room exactly as requested. Only slight criticism it was too warm in the room during the night! Thank you to all the staff for a relaxing stay.
A most enjoyable experience in splendid surroundings. Breakfast was extremely good. All staff very attentive, courteous and obliging.
we had the lunchtime fixed price menu - good choice of dishes, well presented, friendly attentive & professional service. A very pleasant experience throughout
Friendly, efficient staff. Excellent food, freshly cooked. Great room -spacious, quiet, well equipped and with luxury toiletries!
Friendly but professional staff. No problem to mix 2 cocktails that weren't on the list in the evening. Sunday lunch very tasty and well presented.
Lovely Mother’s Day lunch in atmospheric setting. Minor gripe, didn’t like the popular music playing in background.
Excellent Mother's Day dinner. Great food, lovely setting excellent staff. :)
Lovely lunch on a really cold February Monday in the restaurant. We were well looked after, good food portions, will definitely be back and will recommend.
All in all, a very enjoyable Sunday lunch.
We had a lovely meal and our waitress was fantastic. I had asked a specific requirement when making the booking and this was delivered with no fuss.
We did the Sublime Sunday offer and found it very good value, the three course lunch was substantial and we could not manage to eat another thing that day. Monday's breakfast was good though and we both enjoyed that too. The service was good and the room was lovely, we were fortunate enough to have a complimentary upgrade as it was quiet!
We just had little problem with table & seat combination. We were seated in what was your Brasserie, at a square table with brown leather seats and found the seats too low for the table. We are both under 5' 6" so this made it a little awkward & uncomfortable to eat. Having said that the food and service were excellent and we had a very enjoyable meal. As we were staying two nights in the hotel, we had a meal the next evening but this time we were seated in the restaurant and found this much more comfortable. Again, the food and service were excellent.
Staff friendly but guess too busy with private party to be able to provide full attention to "ordinary" clients. Service was not brilliant, but food was acceptable.
The food was excellent!
The food was average but the staff were excellent. We brought our dog and for £30 for a two night stay they could have put dog biscuits or something in the room.
