We enjoyed our stay and had booked Owl, one of the hotel's Excellent rooms as it was a special occasion. One of the panes of glass to a sash window was broken, not only is this dangerous for any room in the hotel, we wuld say this was unacceptable. The toilet cistern took an eternity to be able to flush for a second time which we found irritating and wasted time not wanting to leave an unflushed toilet. We found it unacceptably noisy around our room for approximately an hour and a half - circa 10.00 to 11.30 p.m. Sounded as though removals were taking place. The food was good, we enjoyed what we had very much but would perhaps like to have seen more choice. The staff/service was all good/polite and attentive. We didn't like the bar area at all as it was a corridor for people passing through and it lacked atmosphere. We didn't feel as though we wanted to spend any time in there which we would usually have done. Finally, when we left for breakfast in the morning we put the Do Not Disturb on our door not wanting housekeeping to go in before we were ready to leave. We returned at 10.05 a.m. with Housekeeping (2 people)stood and sat outside our door and the sign had been removed. With an 11.00 a.m. Checkout and a 3.00 p.m. Check-In, Housekeeping should be "invisible" to your guests insofar as the rooms that are in use. We felt as though we were being hassled and didn't like the fact that they had clearly entered our room. We use the Broadway Hotel which is relatively local to us and have had friends stay there and we found the Close Hotel not a comparable residence and wouldn't be prepared to pay the same price again. We may be more likely to choose the Hare & Hounds nearby as perhaps having more to offer. The dark decor sort of okay but wouldn't dream of a stay there in winter as would be very depressing. Nice but we wouldn't recommend or re-book. I'm not sure you need 4 hours between check-in - check-out. There was also £1 Charity Donation added to my bill, don't know what it was for and wasn't asked so entirely inappropriate! We had already been delayed by being asked whether we had enjoyed our stay and offering feedback on the room so didn't challenge but perhaps you would like to let me know what Charity I have contributed to? Hopefully it is one that I don't mind contributing to. Thank you to the staff for a pleasurable stay.
The staff are beyond friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is beautiful and delightful.
It is a bit overpriced . .... But still wonderful to stay
Having recently moved to Tetbury, we booked a table for ‘Tuesday Fish & Chip Night’. We had a delicious meal, the service was excellent & we’ll definitely be going back again.
We should have ben told that there was no lift.
Unfortunately the online booking system let us down. We had booked a table for lunch in the restaurant but when we arrived there was no record of our booking and the kitchen had closed. We had a very limited selection from the bar menu. Luckily the burger was amazing but not the three course lunch we had planned for our special occasion!
Excellent service and ultra efficient attention made for a marvellous evening out. Many thanks.
great stay , lovely hotel with good rooms and excellent service .Would definitely stay again
Outstanding staff who were very professional and worked very hard. Excellent chef. Strange to charge £ 376 for dinner bed and breakfast and then to be charged £ 4 for a vegetable portion ….. "food for thought".
Generally first rate. Atmosphere would be improved without loud music in the public rooms, but you can escape to the garden which is very peaceful. Staff are mostly very friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable and the rooms quiet.
Friendly and helpful service Good food and wine choices
The experience was excellent from check-in to departure. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautifully furnished, toiletries L'Occitane brand, large walk-in shower, quiet location. Dinner (on the terrace) was delicious with efficient but not intrusive service. Dishes were beautifully presented, good portions and fresh seasonal vegetables. The gardens were a haven during the heatwave. Excellent location for access to many Cotswold towns. villages, gardens and arboretum. Would highly recommend.
very nice would love to go again
A great professional team, who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and provide the highest level of service.
Food was nice but not imaginative or special.
A superb experience . Thank you very much
My duck was tough and grisly but the waiter/manager handled it so well that I was not at all embarrassed about complaining. A big well done The halibut is just superb.
We had a splendid time and all of the staff were exemplary. Coming back next year!
Perfect weather for an alfresco lunch although we did have to keep moving chairs around as brollys were fitted in the tables and do not bend. The garden area is enclosed, quiet and really pleasant - super location hard to believe you are in the middle of town. Limited lunch menu but we were able to find items to please 4 of us, good value menu at £18.75 for 3 courses BUT it is the drinks and extras that mount up..we spent £170 plus on our lunch for 4!! BUT it was a lovely day out. The afternoon serving staff were brilliant, young and very attentive. Would love to use The Close for evening dining in the Winter but we do like to dress up and go where they use tablecloths and not sure that they do here, l must check.
Helpful and friendly staff from the moment we arrived. Fabulous room and extensive outdoor seating and dining...it was HOT weather. A really comfortable and personal hotel.
When presented with the bill we decided to pay our own tip and removed part of the service charge. We were then told very loudly by the waiter that our bill was £8 short. We had to then explain this to him. Very embarrassing and unprofessional!
Beautiful hotel - the bar, lounge areas, the restaurant, and of course our room. Cheery and thoughtful service a well. There's probably no better spot to sit back and relax in Tetbury than inside the gardens at The Close Hotel. Really felt like we stepped back in time there - but with all of the modern comforts one would expect from a top flight hotel. Thank you!
Charming hotel, delightful garden, very dog friendly but expensive peanuts!
Lovely place lovely food great service what more could you want. We are never disappointed so please don’t change anything 😊
Very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere! Dining outside at the terrace was a real treat!
