We had the most wonderful stay at The Close over the Easter weekend with our 2 children (aged 3 and 1). We got upgraded to an ‘Excellent’ room on arrival which was lovely and spacious and ample space for the kids to run around and included a rubber duck and non slip mat in the bathroom which was a thoughtful touch. The staff really went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable and were so friendly including the chef who especially purchased for us some delicious lamb sausages for breakfast as we didn’t eat pork. The food (dinner and breakfast) were both absolutely delicious! We couldn’t have asked for more! When we checked out they had also bought our kids some Easter eggs which was so sweet! Thank you to everyone at The Close we had a wonderful time!
From the first moment we walked into the reception we felt relaxed, the welcome from the staff in all areas was fantastic, they all really look like they enjoy what they do. Nothing was too much for them. Great two day stay. Thank you all. Mick & Mary
We really enjoyed our stay at The Close and will definitely return, the room was very comfortable and extremely quiet considering the age of the property. Service was excellent throughout our stay and the food was delicious. The only tiny issue was that the roller blinds on the windows didn't work so well as blackout blinds meaning waking to early morning sun but maybe thats not such a bad thing!
Food and service were fine and everyone happy however I specifically asked for a nice table over looking the garden and instead we were seated in a dark corner on the back wall. Obviously I understand that we were a table for six but as the restaurant was clearly not full to capacity, why could our specific request not be accommodated ? we plan to repeat this reunion next year but will consider the venue choice
One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Could not fault it in any way. Will definitely return.
Very enjoyable stay - thoroughly recommend this hotel and restaurant.
We have eaten at the Close a few times now and have always had a lovely meal with amazing service in beautiful surroundings. My main meal on Saturday was a little disappointing as the coco beans were bland and the lamb quite fatty but this was an exception to an otherwise great meal.
Outstanding customer service. Beautiful food and drink. Fantastic experience. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
So surprised by this hotel- one of the nicest we have stayed in. Beautiful room, lovely atmosphere, food (especially breakfast) - really really lovely, the whole experience!
We really enjoyed our stay at this high quality hotel. Amazing decor and artwork. Very comfortable bed. Dinner was enjoyable and lovely selection of breakfast dishes. Staff 10 out of 10. Excellent location for a stay in the Cotswolds.
Top class experience in a splendid hotel with great staff and dining.
I didn't feel the music choice during duinner was appropriate. You can't please everyone, but I just think you could have chosen something more suited to the environment / atmosphere.
I booked a table in the restaurant, got one in the bar. Service good on arrival, very slow thereafter White wine was served warm, asked for ice, tiny amount given - no impact on temperature. Had to drink warm wine all night.
We come down from West London and have stayed and eaten at The Close on a number of occasions and brought friends and family, too. We rarely give five stars to anything, so this is a strong recommendation !
We have stayed at The Close on. number of occasions, although we both feel that the rooms & breakfast is good, unfortunately we cannot say the same about the food in the restaurant. Given the cost, the quality & cooking of the produce is way, way off the mark. Including veg & potatoes 2 main courses at over £30 per head! Both were over cooked & dry with no finesse to the cooking what so ever. We will no doubt stay at The Close again, but sorry, we'll be eating elsewhere.
Lovely hotel, nice food and excellent staff - we will be returning soon
We had a lovely celebration dinner in the restaurant. Fresh and tasty food served in the Garden room. The best breakfast kept us going throughout the day, right through until dinner. Our second stay at The Close and would definitely return.
Love coming here - great value Sunday lunch. Really helpful that we can book online.
Lovely surroundings , god food , beautiful rooms and friendly and polite staff . A great experience .
We had a lovely annual friends and family Christmas get together Food was lovely and we do enjoy our visits however we all were very disappointed at the service charge being mandatory and not left to our discretion, if service is up to standard then you shouldn’t have to worry about adding this, service should speak for itself The drinks also are very highly priced at nearly £8 for a gin and tonic it all adds up
Lovely stay at The Close Hotel for my husbands birthday. Very cosy room, loved the open fire and festive decor. Food was lovely service was very friendly and loved the drinks menu where we tried a cocktail and recommended a gin. Thank you
Lovely afternoon tea, great atmosphere, food and service. The only improvement would be to have tea topped up.
Couldn't fault the stay and the meal.
Great Meal and very good value.
