Great Meal and very good value.
Enjoyed a wonderful & delicious dinner celebration with friends and stayed in the beautiful 'Swallow' room. Will highly recommend 'The Close' to all my friends and family.
Goodcstaff.Good atmosphere.Convenient for town. Food good but portions very small so overpriced. Service good. Rooms maybe bit overpriced too. However they are nicely appointed. Car park too small and big problem with birds really fouling cars badly. However overall good atmosphere, good staff.Happy reception and very helpful reception.
I came across "The Close" quite by chance, having not anticipated needing to stay (on my own in bad weather) in Tetbury. I was greeted enthusiastically by Chris, when I rang to reserve a room, he immediately upgraded me to a charming room, at the rear of this picturesque hotel, overlooking the chapel. This peaceful room was beautifully equipped with one of those beds, you are loathe to get out off. Both Candida & Nicki on reception, couldn't have been kinder, what with loaning me a spare fone charger; directions to the legendary "Moloh" in Tetbury and finding me one of their last rooms for their Badminton Horse Trials package in May, 2019. My partner is now eager to experience this charming hotel in May, if not before, when we hope to have the opportunity to enjoy the tranquil gardens at the rear. Dinner and breakfast amongst the eclectic and quirky paintings in the dining room with inviting log fires at either end was definitely a highlight of my unexpected stay here. The dinner menu was interesting without being overly pretentious. Portion sizes were ideal for me and the quality of the food from locally sourced suppliers was superb. The sloe gin infused salmon served with crème frâiche and blackberries was a brilliant combination of flavours and my dessert of an individual Christmas pudding was undoubtedly homemade, served with scrummy Christmas pudding ice-cream. Breakfast needs to be savoured. The buffet had a number of interesting twists not normally encountered - unusual chia seeds attractively served in dainty glass jars; petite milk bottles complete with "silver tops" offered an array of fruit juices and smoothies. A gargantuan "full English" was accomoanied by one of the best "Bubble", I've ever eaten. My young waitress from nearby Malmesbury was attentive, friendly and fun. 10 out of 10 for this superb country hotel - I can't wait to return and this time bring my partner. An excellent hotel with really helpful and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay. The only downside was being let down by booking.com.
A few little grumbles, but we really enjoyed our stay. Location is great, decor interesting and atmospheric. In the restaurant, service was a bit too good- I.e. we did feel a bit rushed at times. All the staff were friendly and attentive and responded positively to any requests we had
A lovely evening celebrating my birthday- thank you.
We had an excellent weekend, couldn't be more pleased. The staff were welcoming and pleasant. We had bikes and they were taken in doors for safe keeping. Parking facilities were excellent which is always a concern these days. Our room was really nice and the bar and restaurant had great ambience. Excellent location for a bike ride around the local area and browsing the local shops. It was warm. A fire in the bar. The decor, furnishings and history of the building was just right. Felt like a five star hotel.
