Great pasta sauces, and authentic pizza.
The steak that we had was horrible. It's not worth the money paid. It's definitely not a rib eye and over cooked. We asked for medium. We ate in the restaurant in Feb and the beef we had was good, that's why we brought our friends to celebrate their birthdays. It was really a disappointment for us.
Staff were very helpful and resourceful in helping to carry out my proposal - very grateful to them!
Table filled with ants. Food was alright. Requested for candle for the dessert. The candle was just stucked into the cake without the standing stick. Its unhygienic
Food was great and service was attentive. Food portion was generous. It will be good if you can consider changing the pre-main which consists of Pasta to soup. Tiramisu was too dry.
Made a reservation to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday with explicit mention that it was her special day so that arrangements could be made beforehand. We entered the restaurant to see multiple tables decorated with birthday balloons but our table was not one of them. While disappointed in this negligence, we looked forward to our 4-course meal that unfortunately was even more lackluster than our lukewarm welcome. The starters were unimpressive and our mains of seabass and chicken were overcooked. Dessert was thankfully decent but altogether, our dining experience at The Cliff left me apologetic and embarrassed considering the occasion and our mistaken assumption that the premium location and price tag would assure us a great evening.
Staff could be more attentive to topping wine glasses and water up. The music should be changed to reflect a more sincere atmosphere. It was very elevator type and on repeat which got annoying. Food was very nice though - we had the set 4 course meal.
The online booking never did go through to the restaurant and after initially turning us back, once we showed the booking conformation, efforts were made (in ard 20-30 mins) to seat us finally. We had a flight to catch late in night and this denial / delay caused a lot anxiety. We would have preferred to sit outside to enjoy the view but never got the chance to choose. Hence turned out to be an average evening instead of a spectacular one we had expected
I certainly will highly recommend my friends to consider staying and dining with you. I witness how committed your staffs were despite being very busy. They are always smiling and trying very hard to ensure a good stay for your guests. The food was superb and unique in taste. We love the overall experience. Thank you
Dined at the restaurant as part of a package which includes stay and also a four course meal. Food and ambience were fantastic! However, reservation / service was not satisfactory. Firstly, I requested for outdoor seating during booking and it was confirmed. However, that was not picked up and the staff assigned us to an indoor table. Secondly, during my booking, I stated that it was my partner’s bday and the restaurant offered to arrange for a complimentary slice of cake. That did not happen at all. Thirdly, as a hotel guest, I am entitled to 15% discount but that wasn’t given to me (despite me providing my room no for billing purpose). It has to be picked up by the concierge during the checkout.
You have to ask for the outdoor seating with a sea view. It’s really beautiful
Appreciated that the child menu item was quickly served first. Main menu had limited choices of dishes.
I booked a reservation for the “threw my man off a cliff” for Wednesday the 11th. I called the day before and spoke to two people who weren’t helpful. The first, tole me that there was no way the cliff would have tacos because it was an Italian restaurant. Confused, I checked my reservation and called back. A man answered and told me that the event was cancelled, but I could still have tacos and rosé, but there would be no DJ. I said that was fine and clarified that I could still have tacos and rose. When my friend and I arrived on Wednesday the server had no idea what I was talking about. He went and checked with someone and came back to tell my friend and I we could have rosé and tapas. Looking at the FB events page and the website, this event is still posted. Highly unprofessional to have a staff not know what events are scheduled, and to not publicize on your website and events page that the event was still on.
Asked for a cake for my husbands 40th. It was completely ignored and turned out not to be the special occasion i tried to plan. very disappointing. Service and food were otherwise fine.
It was a busy evening at The Cliff when we dined there and the staff seemed stressed. My wife and I waited half an hour after our reservation time and then were seated away from the restaurant at the hotel bar. Other couples were also waiting and they seemed frustrated. The good news is that the food was very good and came out quickly once we were finally seated.
The air conditioning was not working or turned on until about an hour into the meal. Not sure what happened but it was quite uncomfortable given the hot weather that day.
Previously before the change of menu the food was great. Current menu is limited and the pasta we ordered was overcooked. The salami pizza was way to salty.
It was the most disappointing wine pairing dinner we have ever attended and we have attended many. The venue was a huge disappointment. We were taken to a table outside and it was obvious something was wrong even before we sat down. There were no wine glasses at the table and we were given an a la carte menu. We explained to the waiter we came for the wine pairing dinner and he was flustered. At the next table, another couple was having the same problem. He went off and eventually came back to usher them into the Cliff's main dining hall. In the meantime, we sat and waited and watched as they tried to set another table before ushering us in to be seated. The restaurant was not a dedicated venue for the wine pairing dinner but included other casual diners with young children. I have nothing against children but for the money we paid, it is fair to expect a quiet and relaxed ambience with fellow wine lovers. Maybe COVID-19 has discouraged others from attending and the whole dinner was clobbered together for just a small group, hence the shared space. Thank goodness for Derrick of Culina who at least made the effort to come around and spoke with all of us at great lengths. I think the chef popped out for a moment but gave his attention to only a couple of tables and disappeared for good thereafter. The food served was mediocre at best. But it took determined effort to make the trip out there and it is hard to justify the time and expense just for mediocre food.
The Cliff has a delightful position in this relaxing resort, we enjoyed our Anniversary Dinner with a special menu and matching fine wines. The service was very attentive and this made the evening very special.
Happened in valentines day 2020. Firstly, we requested for a corner table but was served to the middle aisle for a table. When enquired on the corner tables, was told by the staff that those were actually pre booked (which apparently I had done so as well). Secondly, service staff only filled half the cup with champagne, went over to another to tend to a query, and left the other champagne glass unfilled. Had to wait 15 mins before someone even saw our hand raising to have our glass filled. Thirdly, mains were served before the appetisers. It was initially fine but it took them an hour to serve the appetisers AFTER we had finished the mains. So we practically sat for an hour without food. Lastly, we actually asked to see the manager thrice, in a span of 15 mins, the service staff just took turns to come over to check on us and tried to serve us remaining food which we declined and cancelled our dinner. Very very disappointed to have such an experience with the cliff.
Utterly disappointed with the service that night and we agreed that would be the last time we are going back to the Cliff. We chose the Cliff again for Valentine’s Day dinner because we had a positive experience last year but this year was a far cry. Firstly, we were greeted by staff who said they can’t find our reservations despite me showing them the email from you. She found it in the end and directed us to our seat. Appetizer was served and the oysters were lukewarm and not freshly shucked. Probably sat out the the counter for a long time before serving it to us. We had to clear our palates with the champagne cos the taste was bad. Then we waited a long time before the 2nd course was served. 2nd course has cheese on top of it when I specifically wrote that one of us had dietary restriction and there should be no cheese on one of the menu. Clearly, your restaurant doesn’t take dietary restrictions seriously. In between courses took a really long time. We ordered a refill of our house wine and had to ask twice. After dinner, we waved at the waiters nearby to call for the bill. 2 of them saw but pretended they didn’t see and refused to attend to us. We tried one more time and the same thing happened. Frustrated, we walked to the counter to pay. Told the cashier we were table 73 and he snapped back and said it’s table 72. After which he had side jokes with other colleagues while processing our bill. I’m not expecting a nice end to the dinner by then. The cashier didn’t have basic hospitality training to ask how was your dinner or say some niceties. Instead he was sulky in handling us and smiling n joking when talking to his colleague while serving us. We are not fussy customers and we have been patronizing the Cliff since the days Sofitel was known as The Beaufort. It’s sad to conclude that we are never going back there again.
Food was mediocre at best. I made reservations for the dinner set, but the servers doesn't seem to know it although i was directed to my seats. Servers was also inattentive and I struggled to get their attention. First dish that came to me was a plate of seafood with an empty clam shell. quite a disappointing meal for valentines day. The free Polaroid photos are the only plus point.
Very slow when comes to serving the food. Took 45mins to serve the course. Bad service
We are celebrating a friend birthday, staff was meticulous in doing the table set up. The food was serve relatively slow. Otherwise, it a nice and good experience
