About the Cliff
The Cliff presents a wide selection of indulgent ala carte specials. Pop by for our exclusively curated lunch and dinner selections with exquisite Italian fare, hearty Pan-Asian specials, and delectable desserts for the sweet tooth.
Booking through the website was not taken into account, although I went up to the confirmation page. Nevertheless we were lucky enough to still being able to dine there. The pasta was a bit dull. But the beef was awesome. And the desert was a fried cannelloni shape pastry filled with ricotta which ended up being too heavy for ending a meal on a sweet taste. The Chianti was fair, but waiters need more training on how to pour wine into glasses. Besides waiters were friendly and helpful.
Very nice and authentic Italian food and good service. The tiramisu and yuzu cake are superb.
We made online reservation and called to ask for sea-view table but we were first seated along the corridor next to the pool instead - with all diners and staff walking in and out which ruined the dining experience. We were not even seated at the indoor dining area, while the other guests who came around the same time (and after) were seated indoor and other preferred tables. We were moved to a better table after we raised our concern but it was not exactly a pleasant experience dealing with the reception. If this were a hotel/restaurant whereby the staff were more attentive to the Caucasian customers, we would gladly not to visit the restaurant again. We asked for sharing plates after the mains were served - we did wait for a while and tried to get the attention - but it took too long and we had to get them from the counter. The staff apparently were just walking around and entertaining the other customers. Food was decent - we liked the pizza, but the overall dining experience was just sub-par and disappointing in a five-star luxury resort, which we were really looking forward to it. We will go back to the hotel again but definitely not the restaurant.
Chef Jeremey & service staffs (few which I remember - the Ukraine lady, Julianne & Jason) had provided very personalised dining experiences for both hubby & myself. We deeply appreciate the gesture & keep up such standard.
Iced coffee drinks here are diluted and undrinkable. Please train your staff to make decent coffee please.
V nice ambience, attentive staff
The spiced chicken is excellent.
The quality of the food was good but the entire experience was marred by the poorly trained service staff: (i) it is extremely rude to clear my empty plates when it is obvious I was still chewing and having my last few bites of the food, (ii) to be presented with the bill which I have not asked for and when I am still eating. My dining experience would be much more enjoyable if your staff were better trained in basic meal/dining etiquette.
I really enjoyed the food but the entire experience was marred by the poorly trained service staff: (i) we were provided with fork/knife for our mussels dish instead of fork/spoon and no empty plate provided for us to place the empty mussel shells (ii) again, no spoon was provided for our pasta dish which we had to asked for it. My dining experience would be much more enjoyable if your staff were better trained in basic dining etiquette.
A regular restaurant for me. Exceeds expectations. Love it
Waiting staff kept reminding guests that restaurant closing time and went it was 10.30pm lights were dim to signal for us to leave. I was there to celebrate my birthday dinner and was not allowed to consume my own birthday cake. I was told there was a complimentary piece of cake prepared but it was never served. When I settled the bill, I had to inform the staff who was not aware. We decided to come back for lunch the next day. Same experience when we dine at The Cliff for lunch on 8 Nov. we arrived at 2.05pm and by 3pm lights in the restaurant were turned off. So we hurried to finish our meal and left.
Nice atmosphere n tasty food esp pizza.
Very good service.
It was a birthday celebration at this restaurant and so many things went wrong... 1) We asked for an indoor table but on arrival, was told there were none left and were seated outside. 2) Found a huge black ant in my burrata dish. When informed, the server just took it back in and replaced the dish without explaining or apologizing. 3) As birthday deco, we were given an old balloon with happy birthday written on it with marker, as well as a bottle with Happy Valentines day (?!?!) It was all very embarrassing. 4) Food portions were so small for the price, we weren't full even after three courses. In a nutshell, it was a very disappointing experience for a happy occasion, and I sincerely hope the restaurant can raise their service standards for the price they are charging : (
I ordered the Carbonara for lunch and Beef Goulash for dinner. The food was good, especially the Beef Goulash which was very tender. However, I felt that the price was pretty high considering the portions of the meal. Bread was given only when asked, but the waiter was kind enough to provide it freeflow. If you are in the hotel and would like to have a simple and easy meal below your room, I would recommend it.
Service needs to be improved. Little things like when you serve hot water, it needs to be in a cup that has a handle.
Started off on the wrong note. We made the table reservation a day before via the hotel receptionist. Were asked if we wanted an indoor or outdoor table and we picked indoors. But when we were there at the restaurant, we were just told thar there were no indoor seats available for us. When we explained that we had made a reservation for indoor the staff was quick to brush us aside without listening, n said that nothing is confirm even with reservation. This is absurd right? But the rest of the service staff were able to provide good service reocvery. Food was very good although i got to complain that paying $26 for 3 small pcs of the grilled octopus is a sham! But all in all it was still an enjoyable experience.
Great service and wonderful atmosphere!
The food was sub par. The dessert we had which was I think the cannoli should be taken out of the menu. It was hard as a rock and the filling was not nice too. After asking for the bill, the server gave as a chocolate cake and asked it’s your anniversary right? Bill took some time to return too. There was a cocoon of insects of some sort in the curtain and informed the server that and he said they didn’t notice it. It was so big. Need to touch up on some details.
Here's the problem... you are in a location where the clientele has money and yet you provide a cafe style menu in a top location. Nowhere in Sofitel can your guests enjoy good food as the Garden Restaurant is burgers and pizza so The Cliff is only option. The cold cuts was woeful, almost inedible and supposed to be for two. There was hardly anything on the plate. When I pointed this out the manager fetched some more (fine, it's a nice gesture but why do I have to make it?) and when he returned he said "im doing this to make you happy." Either my request was valid or it wasn't, there's no need to make such a comment as this. Bad training in my view. Also had to ask again for a glass of wine because this was forgotten. Again, it happens but it really is a poor return on the excellent atmosphere at "Le Bar" ... The rest of the food I don't remember (which says a lot), but I remember kids running around and screaming and an atmosphere of a burger joint, not a 5 start restaurant. A wasted view, opportunity and a disappointing experience. I wouldn't eat there again, even if it was free.
Great place and good service. Can have more veggie options
Cushioned seats were stained and looked gross. Servers took forever to refill my water glass and never asked if we would like more soft drinks, even though our meal came with free-flow soft drinks and our glasses had been empty for ages. Chicken fried rice had cheap-looking frozen veggies, tiny morsels of chicken and some egg — not what I’d expect from a 5-star hotel. The charcuterie was decent and the yuzu chocolate meringue was lovely, as was the tomato and fig on puff pastry.
Less variety to choose from, food is mediocre.
Lovely place!! Good service and the waiters are very attentive. Will definitely come back again.
I have visited this place for anniversary, the view was just stunning but the food and the service were not that kind. Especially the pizza can be better.
