About The Chipping Forecast - Soho
A sustainable fish restaurant, serving the finest quality fresh Cornish fish.
Here at The Chipping Forecast we've searched the caves and coves of Cornwall in order to find fisherman using traditional techniques to land the finest, sustainably caught fish our waters can offer. Each delivery of fish we receive, can be traced back to the boat and to the fisherman who landed the catch (many of whom are pictured on our restaurant walls).
We guarantee from hook to plate within 48 hours!
Our fresh Cornish fish can be simply grilled, battered, gluten free or coated in Panko breadcrumbs.
Fish & Chips is our signature dish and our accompanying hand cut chunky chips are tripled cooked in traditional beef dripping for an unbeatable taste.
We serve daily grilled specials, seasonal Cornish shellfish and popular homemade favourites such as a rich fish pie, salmon fishcakes, salt & pepper squid, salt cod scotch egg and lots of delicious side salads and greens.
We offer accomplished seafood dishes by using the best available fresh ingredients, keeping it simple and with thorough attention to detail.
Waited half an hour for drinks, and an hour for food. No apologies from staff at all.
Your restaurant is a disaster messed up order waited over an hour for food no admission that there had been an error just staff lying to us saying service was a bit slow The worst service I’ve ever received In London How are you still open with competition from restaurants who actually know how to function? Then when bill came made a big deal of removing service charge I would have laughed if I wasn’t feeling a bit sick from your undercooked fish. Anything else you need to know?
Unless you got £15-£19 to spare for lunch or like us, a 30% off food discount thanks to @hotdinners , I can honestly say it is quite a pricey place to eat fish and chips and not worth it for the quantity or backless stool seating layout. Advertising they had a new menu with risotto on the menu and prawn tortellini I was so sad that when the waiter informed me that there was no risotto on the menu and they haven’t made any tortellini today as they haven’t adapted to the new menu. My husband asked for the hake and they didn’t have that in stock either. Not a great start. We started on some fish croquettes which had a lovely light filling, however the batter itself was quite dense and hard. The green garnish was a bit dried out too but I did however, love the fresh tomato dip. My favourite dish was definitely the Cornish crab roll. It was generously filled and the crab was so fresh and sweet. It went so well with the fluffy sweet brioche bread too. Could have done without the dried green garnish too. Both haddock, cod and chips were really fresh although I found for £19, the portion of cod was really small. The batter on the haddock was also quite heavy at one end. Peas purée were a bit dry and dense, definitely not a purée. I personally love the chips but my husband preferred it more crispy on the outside. Quite disappointing main to be honest. The tartare sauce was nicely made though. Dessert itself was quite average too. Sticky toffee pudding quite dense and cut into three small pieces so it cooled down too quickly to enjoy the contrast of the hot cake and cold ice cream. Ren really enjoyed the deep fried Mars bar. It had a really light batter although I found being served on melted ice cream a bit unusual. Not complaining, just weird. So overall it was an okay lunch. Not exactly memorable for the price paid (even with the discount) so I probably won’t return. Nice to see a sustainable restaurant supporting the Cornish fishing community though.
It’s a lovely place, wine is a bit ropey
Poorly executed service and cocktails on this occasion, however the fish and chips were consistently top notch.
We went midweek and the restaurant was never more than half full, however the service, though friendly and welcoming was painfully slow. I'm not sure whether there needed to be more than two people on the floor, or whether they just needed to be aware of the room, but getting their attention, and then getting what you ordered, could be quite painful Food was good, go for fish & chips over the lobster which was dry and tasteless. Chips were fabulous. House wine was great, which was good as it was the only wine they did by the glass. We shared the croquettes (delicious), gravadlax (ok) and whitebait (fresh and plentiful) to start, and the cucumber and seaweed salad is a joy
Had a lovely meal at the Chipping Forecast. Freshly cooked fish and chips with home made tartare and pea puree and the "Rubies in the rubble" ketchup was v tasty. Service was friendly, efficient and we weren't rushed to leave. Obviously you pay more for fish and chips in a Soho restaurant compared to your local takeaway but for an early dinner for friends in Soho it was perfect and not too pricey.
Great gluten free fish and chips!
Lovely little place in Greek Street with a friendly welcome. The mac and cheese could have been hotter and the batter on the haddock and the scampi could have been crisper but the chips were fantastic. All in all a nice evening, thanks.
Everything was perfect. very courteous and friendly service with a smile. These guys are passionate about their food and quality of service. Will definitely go again and recommend to all my friends.
Our first visit, the food and service were excellent, we will return.
Lovely fresh fish and chips. A relaxed atmosphere and friendly efficient service. A taste of the seaside in Soho!
really delicious. i happened to have the salad and it was fantastic. (with chips, of course.)
Was so happy to find beef dripping cooked fish and chips in London and I was not disappointed. Lovely food and excellent service.
With such fresh fish every dish is a real delight. Crab starter got us in great mood for haddock fish and chips which was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Everyone seemed to be in Oxford St Xmas shopping which meant is was not too busy. Still a hidden gem.
Lovely place with great food!
Mussels were really good. Monkfish excellent.
Best fish I had in London. Greet location and friendly. Highly recommend.
Lovely restaurant charming people and great food
Very lovely food...asian slaw fantastic! Little bit tight on space. Nice staff!
Booked this for a leaving dinner and couldn't recommend highly enough. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food and cocktails were excellent. The 3 course set meal was great value for money and portion sizes were just right. I look forward to returning. Thanks! x
Your front of house were superb, especially when dealing with the stress test of a soft opening at peak time. Food was outstanding I loved the fact that everything was fried in dripping, reminded me of the Italian chippys in Ireland years ago! Sustainable fishing also rates very high with me. However I hope the SoHo demography can cope with the prices in a crowded market place. Good luck guys! I’ll be back anyway
Lovely quirky little spot in the heart of London. Employees were very polite and welcoming. Nice cocktail list and the food was amazing great big portion sizes. Great to see fish and chips done the right way.
The fish was delicious - first class battered haddock and monkfish scampi. Thank you
Thought the food and service was great. I think the restaurant is a tad cramped, could probably do with a table or two being removed to open up the upper floor a bit. Also I think the music could be changed to be a bit more laidback - I think that would suit the vibe of the restaurant a bit more. Overall though it's excellent and some of the best fish I've had in a while.
