About The Chilli Pickle Brighton
Nationally-acclaimed regional Indian restaurant in the heart of Brighton. Passionate about Indian culture, local produce and traditional methods.
The food is excellent. Two reservations, however: 1. Slightly over-attentive staff. Friendly and pleasant, certainly; and the overall level of service was quite excellent. It's just that, at the best of times, I prefer not to be asked if everything is OK; I find that being asked four times in the course of one meal just too much attention. 2. The acoustics in the restaurant are terrible. I appreciate that bare surfaces are much easier to keep clean. The problem is that these, combined with a highly reverberant area around the windows makes it well-nigh impossible to have a conversation with friends sitting at the same table. It would certainly help if you turned off the music, certainly once the restaurant gets in the slightest bit busy. Of itself any music becomes, in any case, totally inaudible; it does, however, increase the overall noise levels. I do not believe that turning it off is going to reduce numbers of customers. For myself I should be reluctant to visit again precisely because of the noise levels.
usually I would expect the chapatti and tandoori roti to be at least warm, it did not spoil the overall meal just an observation
Fabulous food and lovely service. A little squashed so lower score for atmosphere but that's not a huge issue! Very highly recommended.
food was amazing, would definitely recommend the railroad curry or the tandoori chicken tikka (although I was expecting a saucy curry with rice, it wasn't and came with no rice so I had a garlic naan but it was still delicious). me and my partner shared poppadums to start which came with the best mango chutney I've ever tasted! service was amazing, accidentally spilt a bit of water and the waiters were really fast cleaning it up and very chilled out about it, everyone seemed happy and it was a really nice atmosphere! food wasn't too expensive but drinks were quite pricey (£9.75 for a double gin and lemonade) but overall amazing food and great service, would definitely return!
Fantastic food and lovely evening. Service a bit slow taking drinks orders. Would be nice to provide a gluten free menu as this is difficult when it is not on the menu and you have to wait to get someone’s attention before you can even start to decide what to have. Vegan and vegetarian are noted on the menu which are choices, whereas coeliac is not a choice but an allergy that needs to be better catered for. Staff were very helpful but a menu to allow some independence would be better
Always a really great experience thank you
Great staff - very professional and very helpful. Food was very good - better than expected - ordered vegetarian options. Atmosphere - it’s a little bit too “loud” - hard to hear people on your own table. This does affect the overall experience.
Really great food, good service, nice atmosphere
Not your average curry, nice to try things that I’ve never had or seen before in any other Indian restaurant. Service and setting higher than average. Can’t wait to go again
We were hugely disappointed. We have been several times before but the food was poor and overpriced. Has the menu or chef changed?
Very good food once again Really busy for a wednesday night
Love the food, especially the Thalis! Bring back a Thali option for dinner...or allow adults to order from the kids’ menu 😊
great meal as usual and a Brighton most-go
Lovely food and good service
Just loved it. Got a really honest welcoming friendly vibe. Fun food delicious and top quality. Best in Brighton. Came for a meal to say goodbye to my daughter who is moving abroad and we couldn’t have picked a better place. Thanks x
Food was really nice, service was friendly and unobtrusive and efficient. Only slight downside was the speed at which we were rushed through the meal but food was really great and we would definitely go back
Brilliant service and great food, can’t wait to come again!! Thank you
Good service and great food, I’ll be back....
We all had an excellent meal and a lovely time. We shall be back again in the near future. Fabulous King thalis all around combined with superb service.
Everything is just amazing! I'm lookimng forward to come back.
The food was incredible! Great place for an Xmas team lunch
fantastic, as always.
Lovely surroundings. Unusual and delicious food but both I and a friend found a lot of the thali dishes too salty - and I usually like quite a lot of salt. We were left quite a long time without even a drink before we were asked if we wanted to order
Lovely staff delicious food and relaxed atmosphere, perfect to catch up with friends.
