About The Chequers Inn
We are reopening on 13th November with new beginnings in mind.
The Chequers Inn has the coast in its soul: thanks to its fabulous location in Thornham Village. Light dishes and grazing at lunchtime gives way to ‘gastro dining’ in the evening, so whatever your mood, whatever the occasion, there’s fabulous food to suit. We even recommend drinks for each dish, often from our fantastic local producers.
We’re in the midst of Norfolk’s Royal Coast, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, washed in the glorious North Norfolk coastal light. Step inside and you’ll find yourself very welcome: our team sets out to make every guest enjoy a real sense of belonging, whether they are with us for a light lunch or a longer stay.
Our menus make the most of local produce, changing as the seasons turn so diners can enjoy the very best tastes of Norfolk at every time of year. In summer months enjoy the sea air as you dine outside in one of our pavilions that always are a great occasion with friends and family, and when the nights draw in and there’s a chill in the air you can enjoy a winter lunch and a good ale with us, warming yourself by our crackling fire.
This eleven-bedroom hotel is the perfect retreat for people who want to pull on wellies in the day and something more elegant at night. Because if you enjoy the matchless combination of chef-led cuisine, elegant accommodation and miles and miles of marvellous coast to explore, we think you’ll absolutely love The Chequers Inn.
Really had a nice time, food was good staff were also very good and would stay again , highly recommend :))
Pizza base was raw so we returned it and it came out again raw. If you have a whole section dedicated to pizza it would be expected it was a speciality. We ended up only having one main on our anniversary meal which we had to share. Other courses seem very expensive for what they were.
Loved our big room
My family were celebrating a 65th birthday. We had been asked to pre order our food, there were 11 of us. We clearly stated our choices. We didn't get what we had pre ordered. One steak went back to the kitchen twice, a pizza arrived 20 mins after everyone else had got their meal. Desserts were a disaster, in fact one of the party didn't get their dessert. We won't be returning to The Chequers nor will we be recommending to any of our friends. Sue
Staff were friendly and helpful, but the food was nothing special. The dining room lacked atmosphere - i'd select the bar if I go there again.
Another thoroughly enjoyable meal at The Chequers. We look forward to our next visit.
My partner and I and our two dogs were made very welcome. We had a great time, nice room and great location for exploring the lovely Norfolk coast!!!
Lovely break Food delicious Room very comfortable
Great friendly staff, nice food and an excellent drink selection.
Was told the sawdays offer wasn’t available on the Sunday that I’d booked,(this wasn’t clear on the info so I’m glad I rang ahead) so we didn’t go 😏
Our waiter was so lovely and made us feel at home. Food was incredible - perfect roast beef!
Friendly service & nice food
A lovely stay, and first time away with our dog. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Room was on the small side, but very nicely done. Beautiful walks along the beach . Would definitely stay again .
What a lovely lunch!
Absolutely wonderful meal. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Prawn Tempura Excellent. Grilled Bream with white beans & black cabbage, as a dish just does not work.. the cabbage was so tough it could not be eaten. Beetroot salad, very poor. It came with a few cubed pieces of beetroot and 4 small pieces of feta cheese, and lots green leaves.. The pizza was a major disappointment after being described as "Gourmet".. the amount of duck was very minimal, and the amount of cheese was just to much, it really was a cheese pizza with a bit of duck.. it was a wrong description to call it Gourmet! The the only starter was a Rhubarb crumble!! more like a very large bowl of stewed Rhubarb with some very under done crumble with some incredibly hard pieces which were impossible to to break down, so all the time i was picking them out of my mouth.. In other words it was a total disaster of a meal. I dont normally respond to such requests for feed back, but on this occasion it was every dish that was substandard, which i am sure you would want to know about it thank you
Good food in a nice setting but we waited a long time for our desserts which were essentially ice cream so took little preparation. Think we were forgotten til we flagged down a passing waiter !
Gorgeous Sunday dinner! Veg was perfectly cooked with bite, and the beef was so tender! We have 3 courses and they were all perfect
We attended a meal on Saturday night, our dinner waiter was fantastic, recommending dishes and engaging with banter on the table. The food was equally as fantastic, we shall be returning!
Great pub. Extremely friendly and really welcoming to our dog- she enjoyed a sausage gift. Excellent staff and service
It was my husband's birthday and we had a fantastic Sunday lunch. The food was delicious, loved all three courses and even though we were full we could leave any, it was so tasty. The staff were excellent very attentive but not intrusive. We can t wait to go back . Thankyou
Very enjoyable stay and no negatives .
Staff really lovely, welcoming and food was fantastic, really a lovely end to our holiday. Thank you
Great food and service. Interesting enough wine list. Definitely my favourite pub in the area.
Food and service was amazing
