About The Chequers at Crowle
Country pub specialising in home-cooked Anglo-French food. Real ales, fine wines & premium brand spirits served in a warm friendly atmosphere.
We held a small surprise party there and it was excellent! The staff were friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food and excellent service! Thank you
Another excellent meal at Chequers. The only criticism is that there is only one non fish vegetarian main course! In this day and age more choice should be available and we definitely think that your special menu should at least have another , non fish, vegetarian special! Meat eaters have a huge choice, abs even more choice onbthd specials menu, so why shouldn’t vegetarians have more than one option? Do recommend the pub still but this needs to be addressed urgently as will put many vegetarians off visiting!
The decor is smart and contemporary. We had a warm welcome. The menu is reasonably priced. The food was very tasty. We had a roast. The meat, roasties and gravy were plated and the veg separate. There was plenty of everything. My only criticism is that the food was only warm when served and I do prefer my food to be hot. Other than that we couldn't fault the food or service.
Service was quite slow, I had to keep asking for the wine and other drinks, the wine glasses we were given came from another table where people were sat eating, this is not acceptable. We had cheese, one of the plates we were given was dirty with crumbs over it. At the cheese table there was only one knife which meant that each piece of cheese you cut was contaminating the other cheeses with the dirty knife. I think some staff training is in order.
Good food and atmosphere friendly staff. Well worth a visit would recommend and will certainly visit again
I have marked atmosphere down slightly only because sometimes it can be a bit noisy - partly due to the low ceiling and partly due to some of the clientele neither of which are a quick fix!
We were very disappointed with the service. Our orders were taken quite quickly and the food was delicious, however we had to chase our main course and the bill. When the bill arrived it was incorrect and we could have taken advantage and walked out not paying for our meals. We didn't. When our correct bill came we then had to chase up to be able to pay by card and as we walked out we heard three other tables complaining about the poor service. We did not pay a service charge. We actually booked again for the 20th October for 4 people at 8pm and are hoping for a much better experience.
Excellent as always. Great food with friendly and helpful staff.
The waitresses, whist polite, charming and courteous, were somewhat inexperienced and did not even think to deliver bread to the table. All round though, a splendid evening and I will certainly be back again. (bar staff were excellent btw).
Fabulous evening. We thoroughly enjoyed it
We had a great time. Excellent food, absolutely charming waiter who was attentive with a sense of humour and very professional.
Lovely food, the atmosphere is great but our table was stuck on its own so not quite as good as usual. Will definitely be back!
We are regulars at The Moorings and The Stag. Finally visited The Chequers at Crowle and had a delicious supper to celebrate our anniversary. Two complimentary glasses of champagne on arrival from Richard (Operations Manager), which was a lovely touch and suprise. Will definately be returning. Emma
Well presented food, great choice and lovely atmosphere. Good value for money.
The service was very poor. Our waitress was unable to find the wine we wanted and offered us an alternative choice, however your sommelier must have overheard our discussion and brought our original choice. We only had a main course and our waiter cleared the first course cutlery but only from 3 places and there were 4 of us. We had to make room on the table to accommodate the dinner plates and the vegetables. Although good the meal would have been more enjoyable if it had been hotter than warm. Really lovely evening, the food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing, decent sized portions with out being too filling. Staff were attentive and friendly but not in your face which was a nice change. All in all a very possitive experrience which we would deffinately repeat
...another great evening with superb food and service once again.
It is one of the few restaurants in the area that is consistent.Staff are really friendly and well trained, food is good with regular menu changes. Atmosphere is always buzzing so great to go for just a drink or a meal.
My first visit - Lovely venue and food. The white wine was not chilled and we requested an exchange but that was not chilled either and so we requested some ice. Everything else was great and I will definitely come back!
Excellent food & service .. I have no hesitation in recommending The Chequers for a satisfying dinning experience
Super food and ambiance. Lovely attention to detail, family thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Would recommend.
Excellent night and have added my comments to Tripadvisor.. Lovely ambience, great staff, relaxed but efficient, super food and wine, good VFM.. ....really enjoyed the evening. Thanks Adrian
we hadn't visited for a few years and were delighted by the changes. Food, service and environment were all outstanding and we will be back very soon - with others!...
