Lovely Thursday lunch for 3
Excellent meal as always, lovely fire going, Xmas trees were tastefully decorated and a fun time had by all x
We dine at the Chequers fairly regularly and are always more than happy with the service and food. This is the first time I have eaten there with a larger party and the service and food was again extremely good and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
The waiting staff forgot that we ordered a main menu option suitable for a white pepper allergy and so one of our guests had to wait an additional 10 minutes for their main.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The food could not be faulted. Service was relaxed and could have being a little quicker between courses however, it provided for a relaxed meal time. Thank you
Good menu, service and ambiance
Lovely food great service.
As always this was an enjoyable and relaxing lunch with friends. Excellent food and well looked after Ubuntu’s.
Lovely evening and made us feel very welcome. Thank you
Lovely lunch, good service. A little quiet but it was a Monday lunchtime in November!
Always a pleasure eating here.
Great night. Great food.
Lovely warm welcome as always, courteous staff, excellent bear and good food to match. Wish I lived nearer!
It was a little frustrating waiting for service, particularly as we had school kids in the party (I had advised you this). However, everyone enjoyed their food and drink.
Celebrated my wife's birthday there , food and service was excellent , we had never been to the cheques before , but will definitely be back . Thanks for a great meal .
I booked a table of ten for a birthday gathering. From start to finish the staff were attentive to everyone from coats to drinks. The food (which we pre-ordered) was beautifully presented, hot and very tasty. The whole evening they checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. To be sure all of my guests were impressed and as the birthday girl...so was I. Thank you so much for a very lovely night. 😍
A long wait for the food to arrive, when the restaurant wasn't that busy. We thought the food choices on the menu were all quite fancy for a lunch menu. No straight forward baguettes or sandwiches or a simple fish and chips. Unfortunately wasn't alot on the lunch menu suitable for a pregnant people and two of us are pregnant. Alot of choices were mixed with either prawns or brie or chorizo and we couldn't have this. My friend ended up with soup and only got about 4 spoonfuls of soup. She wasn't offered bread with it either, we had to ask. I'd suggest adding a few simple choices to the menu to cater for everyone.
We will be back !
A few weeks ago we had a very disappointing lunch due to really poor service - the food was lovely. However we decided to go ahead with another booking with our husbands. Big mistake as we had a repeat of poor service and had to chase our main meals again. This time the meal was very disappointing. We will not be coming back.
We enjoyed the food and service. The whole experience was impressive. A little expensive (bottles of wine have enormous mark ups) but the food is excellent quality.
We held a small surprise party there and it was excellent! The staff were friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food and excellent service! Thank you
Another excellent meal at Chequers. The only criticism is that there is only one non fish vegetarian main course! In this day and age more choice should be available and we definitely think that your special menu should at least have another , non fish, vegetarian special! Meat eaters have a huge choice, abs even more choice onbthd specials menu, so why shouldn’t vegetarians have more than one option? Do recommend the pub still but this needs to be addressed urgently as will put many vegetarians off visiting!
The decor is smart and contemporary. We had a warm welcome. The menu is reasonably priced. The food was very tasty. We had a roast. The meat, roasties and gravy were plated and the veg separate. There was plenty of everything. My only criticism is that the food was only warm when served and I do prefer my food to be hot. Other than that we couldn't fault the food or service.
Service was quite slow, I had to keep asking for the wine and other drinks, the wine glasses we were given came from another table where people were sat eating, this is not acceptable. We had cheese, one of the plates we were given was dirty with crumbs over it. At the cheese table there was only one knife which meant that each piece of cheese you cut was contaminating the other cheeses with the dirty knife. I think some staff training is in order.
