About The Chequers
In the picture perfect village of Churchill, The Chequers is everything a traditional pub should be with its pretty Cotswold stone exterior and a muddy Land Rover outside. Except, step inside this pub and you’ll find something much more intriguing. A heady mix of the old and new. Expect modern cocktails to sit alongside local ales, and a menu that is packed with seasonally inspired dishes.
Great food at The Chequers again. Great service but I wished staff would use face coverings. Felt uncomfortable being served food without some sort of protection. Other than that great place.
A lovely pub in a lovely village. We had a pleasant visit in the garden area but our order was taken wrong and therefore one of us was left eating most of the meal while the other watched. Waitress apologetic but would have been nice to be offered complimentary drinks or something to make amends. Prices the upper end of the market, but to be expected to a degree in the area. Food was nice but I wouldn’t say it was value for money. We would go back but it was a one off trip while on holiday in the area
Really delicious food and excellent, friendly service at this traditional country pub. There's a lovely garden area and a grand looking main dining room. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely be back!
Fantastic Sunday lunch with great service as always. Good to see hand sanitising and social distancing in practice. We remain addicted to your legendary peppercorn sauce and will be back for more!
Absolutely wonderful and as we are holiday we would definitely come back
Food excellent, staff very attentive and the COVID measures were well thought out and appropriate
Lovely cosy pub/restaurant. Warm, friendly and welcoming team. Food was delicious.
We were disappointed that we had to wait so long to get our main courses as my aunt is a very old lady she was very tired when we finally received it!
This is my second visit with family. As with the previous visit, the service and food were impeccable, and we all enjoyed our meal very much. There was a baby in the dining room that screamed nonstop for about 2 hours, but, of course, that is not your fault! I look forward very much to my next visit.
V good dinner, the melted Camembert starter was superb
Excellent meal and service.
Excellent to see the Chequers back on form and busy! always so good
Gorgeous lamb roast and burgers for the kids. Great service. Felt very safe, social distancing and one-way system well respected.
Delicious Sunday lunch with a lovey relaxed atmosphere.
The food was the best we found in costwolds . Very fresh , tasty and good service . I would def recommend going to this restaurant if you are in costwolds .
An excellent evening all round, we will be back....
Amazing Pub with top notch food and service
We arrived for Friday Lunch which was eventually abandoned without ordering anything due to a minor chimney fire. Up until the chimney fire we sat at our table for 15 minutes without even being asked if we wanted to order a drink. Meanwhile we watched bemused as the waiters worked in pairs clearing empty tables and doing anything except attending to us. To be fair this is very unusual - we must have eaten at Chequers 100 times over the last few years and never experienced this. We also love the ambience. We won’t let this one experience put us off but if it becomes the norm we most certainly will
Super food and super service well worth a visit.
Gorgeous meal and warm welcome - we had cheese soufflé, steaks and a beef special. All delicious!
Staff were extremely attentive and knowledgable about everything food and drink related. The one way system was in place but definitely not being used by what looked like locals, perhaps this could have been enforced or suggested when people finished and paid their bill. The food itself was incredible and the restaurant setting is beautiful, I will 100% be making the journey back to eat again!
We had a fantastic Sunday lunch with excellent service. Everything was great and we will be back.
Great pub with lovely decor and fabulous food and service! Very impressed.
Great service and lovely food
We stumbled on the Chequers following a google search, needed a midway point to catch up with my Dad. What a super find. The place was clean, sanitiser available yet this didn't detract from the eating experience you want for a casual long Saturday lunch. The food was excellent, every bite on our plates cleared, though be sure to leave room for dessert - crumble and the banoffe pot were big hits. The pace of the restaurant suited us as we were catching up with my Dad so were in no rush - happy to take our time. If you were in a rush or wanted a quick bite maybe best to flag to them as I am sure they will accommodate. This is now on our best places to meet for lunch list - well worth a visit with friendly helpful staff.
