About The Cellar Restaurant
The Cellar is a unique and one of a kind restaurant situated in the heart of the East Neuk of Fife. An area with a rich fishing heritage and traditions. Over the centuries The Cellar was used as a Cooperage, building barrels for salting the local fleets Herring catch. A fishermen’s store and even a smoke house.
Reopened in 2014 by Local Lad Billy Boyter, his ethos at The Cellar is simple. To source and promote the best local and Scottish produce throughout the seasons. Making good use of the surroundings by foraging local seaweeds and other edible plant species.
The cooking at The Cellar is modern and simple, but still very much in touch with our past traditions and heritage. Every effort is put into keeping old practices alive such as drying, fermenting, salting and smoking. These are all important elements in our cooking.
On top form. Don't miss it.
Best restaurant and food I have been too and eaten in years. A perfect visit. Will return.
Excellent food! The restuarant is really charming and located in a small touristy village. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced. the desert was devine! rose water droplet and crunch pink crombe. ox tongue was fantastic. the bread really great. It was a lovely meal
Another excellent meal. We had a great evening. The only feedback I'd give is I'm not keen on the earthenware plates/bowls. They set my teeth on edge when scraped by cutlery.
Just outstanding. Hands down the best meal we've had in a few years.
Exceptional food and service. A real local gem
Food was fantastic and beautifully presented. Staff were welcoming and friendly.
Really enjoyed my first time at The Cellar
We had an amazing dining experience. There is nothing to fault, the food and service is second to none, such a treat! Thank you
Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere, excellent service
Stunning meal. Very imaginative use of the ingredients and every dish a work of art.
We throughly enjoyed the food and the waitress were very nice however we felt it lacked a level of service that the food deserved for the quality and price. My only comparison is Tom kitchin at leith which is a dining experience and less expensive than the cellar and I feel you could do more to make the customer feel special as for most of us this is a speacial occasion.
Fabulous menu. I had informed The Cellar about my allergy and they took due consideration and had planned my food menu accordingly. Would recommend the Wine Flyte.
Despite a full house, staff managed to personalise the service and ensure each customer got the best experience. This was a meal -- and an afternoon -- by which professionalism and commitment can be judged. Excellent all round.
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. I'd definitely recommend!
Food is delicious and to a standard of presentation and preparation quite beyond what reasonably could be produced in a home kitchen. This is what we look for as a treat for a special occasion. We have been several times and always been delighted.
Absolutely stunning evening. Laid back yet professional service. All 6 of us in the group found the food, matched wines and experience out of this world. Thank you!
An amazing menu full of unique and wonderful flavours.
Fantastic service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The tasting menu was delicious and it was so nice to try so many different things.
A memorable experience. We enjoyed lunch sample menu with wine - absolutely superb.
The Cellar has been a favourite with my family for nearly 50 years, and it continues to delight at every visit. I was there with my sister last week and the food was wonderful as always, as was the service. It was a little quiet, hence the 4 for atmosphere, but in all other ways the experience more than met our expectations. I will recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Fife, as I have done for many years.
Excellent! A worthy Michelin star award
