About The Cellar Restaurant
The Cellar is a unique and one of a kind restaurant situated in the heart of the East Neuk of Fife. An area with a rich fishing heritage and traditions. Over the centuries The Cellar was used as a Cooperage, building barrels for salting the local fleets Herring catch. A fishermen’s store and even a smoke house.
Reopened in 2014 by Local Lad Billy Boyter, his ethos at The Cellar is simple. To source and promote the best local and Scottish produce throughout the seasons. Making good use of the surroundings by foraging local seaweeds and other edible plant species.
The cooking at The Cellar is modern and simple, but still very much in touch with our past traditions and heritage. Every effort is put into keeping old practices alive such as drying, fermenting, salting and smoking. These are all important elements in our cooking.
Exceptional from start to finish. Have dined recently at the two-Michelin starred Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles. That was very good; this was better.
Went for Sunday lunch as a birthday treat. A lovely meal, will be back for dinner sometime.
Fantastic yet again! The entire menu is beautifully prepared and presented - an absolute delight for any foodie. Service is exceptional, and everything about the restaurant makes you feel comfortable and welcome. You have to eat here...
Fabulous restaurant, with one of the best meals we have ever had. Totally deserving of the Michelin recognition.
If you're looking to dine in a high class relaxed atmosphere with delicious food and wine and great service The Cellar is the place to come to. What a great evening we had to celebrate my husband's birthday. We decided not to look at the menu before dining and let the excellent waiting staff bring our food to the table course by course and explain it all as we went along, it was top class! Thank you!
Terrific food....brilliant... very tasty, diverse courses well worth the visit... not a great deal of atmosphere Service was good but functional
Fabulous food and lady who served wine pairing was excellent , beautiful restaurant and great value lunch
Superb****** I booked for my wife's 60th and we enjoyed our meal and wine package immensely. The food was packed full of flavour and really was a showcase for local ingredients. Recommended to all of our friends and family for a visit. Thank you again.
Visited the Cellar on three occasions now over the course of about eighteen months and on each of these occasions the first three dishes have been the same. I find that a little disappointing and if the dishes changed more regularly I would visit more often. However I have thoroughly enjoyed each visit and will be back.
A great evening and dining experience. The food was fantastic and the service was attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
Absolutely great experience all round especially for my daughter and me who are both gluten intolerant. What a gorgeous wee place full of character and great service from the front of house team. The food was exceptional, so tasty, beautifully presented, original and we so totally loved the onion butter! When is your recipe book being published. Would highly recommend you and if we are back in Anstruther, you would be the first place we would book up. Thank you
One of the best lunches I've ever had. The flavours were amazing and admirably seasonal, some of the ingredients on the menu were ingredients I'd never tasted before which made it a real experience, it felt like you were tasting the landscape at that specific time of year. Each course was cooked with such a high level of precision and care. The friendly service and a heartwarming elderly couple celebrating their 60th anniversary at a nearby table topped off a memorable afternoon.
Warm welcome cosy restaurant and amazing food. Staff very busy as only 2 waiting on the tables but they managed to keep up with everything. Thoroughly enjoyed the food
Hands down the best food I’ve ever had. From the service, the ambiance, the presentation, it was everything and more. Would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. A must visit!
It was a good night out. Would love to do it again
Overall a wonderful dining experience. The service, food, wines and ambience were all superb.
Yet another fantastic dining experience at this gem.. This is my favourite restaurant in Scotland and reviewing from someone with years of hospitality experience The Cellar is absolutely outstanding from the moment you arrive to leaving you are treated to a service and culinary masterclass. Amazing!!
Great team, amazing food. Absolutely can’t beat it.
Many thanks for looking after us yesterday ( 2/11/19- this was my first visit and it did NOT disappoint! The food was delicious, full of flavour and very well presented. The staff were excellent -friendly and very informative. The meal was so good I have already booked for a couple of weeks time!
Lots of incredible dishes but the monkfish was a particular favourite. Service was brilliant as always.
Fantastic experience as always. Can’t wait to visit again. Amazing food and service to match.
An exceptional tasting menu - many highlights but the venison superb.
Great experience. Food was stunning! Service was great but a little stern. We would have Liked a few more minutes between courses, these are minor points, we loved it and will be back.
A lovely meal in a lovely relaxed setting. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you!
