About The Cellar Restaurant
The Cellar is a unique and one of a kind restaurant situated in the heart of the East Neuk of Fife. An area with a rich fishing heritage and traditions. Over the centuries The Cellar was used as a Cooperage, building barrels for salting the local fleets Herring catch. A fishermen’s store and even a smoke house.
Reopened in 2014 by Local Lad Billy Boyter, his ethos at The Cellar is simple. To source and promote the best local and Scottish produce throughout the seasons. Making good use of the surroundings by foraging local seaweeds and other edible plant species.
The cooking at The Cellar is modern and simple, but still very much in touch with our past traditions and heritage. Every effort is put into keeping old practices alive such as drying, fermenting, salting and smoking. These are all important elements in our cooking.

Excellent lunch as always. Tasting menu may not be everyone's choice but it suits us perfectly. Great value for money.

A fabulous lunch, food exquisite, can highly recommend, lovely intimate and friendly atmosphere and it was heartening to speak with other customers about the experience. Oh and tomatoes and strawberries - who knew?!

Food and matched wine were excellent. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and in particular that there was music in the room. A couple of minor service blips from a trainee but in no way compromised our experience, pleased to see young staff being developed.
The food was superb. Lovely restaurant with friendly but not intrusive staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Dinner seems to be unnecessarily over-complicated (certainly not 'simple'!), lengthy and too expensive. At two other Anstruther restaurants we had excellent high-quality simpler food at a quarter of the price!

Good value tasting menu with excellent fish courses. Initial amuse bouche tasters were a little uninspiring.
First visit to the Cellar but will definitely be back. Every detail of every course was amazing. Service was fantastic. All round great experience and can’t wait to visit again.
