About The Cat's Pyjamas - Sheffield
The best Indian street food this side of Delhi.
After spotting a gap in the market, Leeds based Scottish entrepreneur Alison White set up the first Cat's Pyjamas in Headingley, Leeds. Our menu has been crafted by our talented chef team who crafted our menu with tantalising aromas and fragrant flavours to create food that will wake the taste buds. We celebrate Indian street food culture - the carts and street side vendors that dot the length and breadth of India’s regions, preserving age-old recipes whilst creating urban legends. Inspired by the hawker’s local dishes, Goa’s seafood shacks and the toddy shops of Kerala, every one of our dishes is infused with the passion of India’s cooks. We’re combining the energy from our bustling kitchen with vibrant decor to evoke the colours, chaos and craziness of India and create a fun, easy-going, dynamic atmosphere.
We’re bringing the best Indian street food this side of Delhi to the heart of Sheffield!
A proper curry!!...at last. Excellent food quality, far better than a lot of mediocre dishes served up at many other places in Sheffield. Staff are top drawer also
Looks like it could be affordable but ends up adding up and being quite pricey. I would come again but maybe in a large group so the bill can be easily split. But for students dont go unless your earning... alot.
Lively, fun and friendly. Second visit here, will be back. But will they ever dare to change the menu from time to time?
The atmosphere was great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall the food we ordered was tastey especially the prawns! However the pork vindaloo was extremely spicy, to the point we were coughing even though we’d asked how spicy it was before ordering it, to which the waiter replied ‘its not overly hot’ the pork in this dish was also 90% fat, I cut up about 5 pieces on my plate which I couldn’t eat because it was pure fat. I explained this when the waiter cleared our dishes to which he relied ‘pork belly is meant to be fatty’. Even though we evidently had barely touched this dish we were still charged for it at full price and not offered an apology for our complaint. This was fustrating because we enjoyed the night so much until this point.
Lovely meal for the family
Staff are extremely attentive and there was a very good, lively atmosphere!
Really good food. Seemed short staffed and poorly managed. That said the person who served us did a good job considering how busy she was.
Food was excellent. However, it all arrived very quickly (we had barely finished our poppadoms before everything arrived).
We enjoyed ourselves, the food was very nice - great menu for adults & nice selection of drinks - and nice place. A good addition to Ecclesall Road. But here is some constructive feedback as you're asking: 1) We were five and the waitress tried to squeeze us on a table for four even though the restaurant was virtually empty at the time. 2) The kids did not get their mini-poppadums 3) There was no chicken-pops on the kids menu (or whatever they're called) even though it was very early. 4) So many times kids eat free restaurants accidently put the price on the final bill. This should be automatic. Although, the waitress self corrected just after I started looking at the bill. 5) Good practice for tapwater to be put on table at beginning. Having said all that we did really enjoy it and the staff were all very nice.
The food was excellent but service very slow. Had to ask several times for water. Waited over an hour for food
Good value for money - food a bit mixed - some excellent some not as good. Had expected a bit of a different dining experience so I was a bit disappointed to be brought the same old poppadoms and pickles when we arrived! Please offer something different! Restaurant very noisy which does give a good atmosphere but not a particularly good dining experience.
Great food and a great place. The menu is innovative and provides a unique offering on Indian food. An excellent dining experience - highly recommended.
staff were exceptionally friendly and well informed .Booked again for Oct 27th!
This is a very unusual restaurant whose target audience is obviously the younger client. As a middle aged couple it was too noisy and uncomfortable for us. The food portions small but very nice.
Very busy. Great food and the staff were doing their best to service a packed house. Food was excellent and a real change from the usual run of the mill Indian food served in most restaurants !
Amazing food and service, obviously the team take pride in their surroundings. A great addition to Eccy Road!
Delicious food, fab atmosphere, great service! Would deffo recommend!
Great food and atmosphere, lookt fwd to next visit.
delicious spicy food in a lovely atmosphere. great value for money too. will definitely be visiting again
Excellent food and good service as always
attended as party of 6. 2 main meals arrived substantially later than other 4; starters were disappointing. wine arrived too late into meal. food was good but service was poor
Food was excellent but it was 10 minutes before anyone came to our table after being seated. We ordered poppadoms yet never received them, then waited over 20 minutes between starter and main course despite being able to see it on the pass, we had to ask one the staff if it was our food and when we did it was brought to our table.
The decor and vibe is great, London what you’ve done! The menu is brilliant, I love the fact there’s not endless choice. Sadly the tandoori dishes were just too salty. We could even finish them due to it. The rice was really well done however and the curry dishes were ok, nice flavours but also too salty. I will be back however
A wonderful family dining experience! Something for all ages and reasonable prices. We found the food was tasty and different from our regular Indian cuisine experience. We ordered starters and mains to share and wet all enjoyed the variety. Waitress was friendly and helpful. All staff were chatty and made recommendations. A great night which we will definitely repeat.
Great food, great service, definitely coming back!
