About The Cat's Pyjamas - Eastgate
The best Indian street food this side of Delhi
Leeds based Scottish entrepreneur Alison White set up the second Cat's Pyjamas in Leeds. She worked closely with Alfred Prasad, the youngest Indian chef to ever receive a Michelin star, who crafted our menu with tantalising aromas and fragrant flavours to create food that will wake the taste buds. We celebrate Indian street food culture - the carts and street side vendors that dot the length and breadth of India’s regions, preserving age-old recipes whilst creating urban legends. Inspired by the hawker’s local dishes, Goa’s seafood shacks and the toddy shops of Kerala, every one of our dishes is infused with the passion of India’s cooks. We’re bringing the best Indian street food this side of Delhi to the heart of Headingley & Leeds.
Cheese naan was TO DIE 4.
Service was poor. We were waiting 10 minutes for a drink and even longer for the bill the staff were all stood together at the entrance talking whilst we were waiting
Amazing food and quick service!
This was my fourth visit and I enjoyed the food, drink and service just as much as before. I would try to get a table further from the door in future as it was quite cold and draughty, but other than that minor point, everything was superb.....thank you.
Excellent food and service, highly recommend
Amazing food amazing atmosphere. Staff very friendly and service great. Please can I have an invitation to the Harrogate opening? Don't ask don't get. I have lots of friends in Harrogate.
Very impressed with the restaurant and it's staff. Look forward to our next visit.
Lovely food as always and staff always happy to help. Now one of my favourite places to eat in leeds
Good food, friendly service, central location.
Good food and service
The Cat's pyjamas had been recommended to me and it lived up to my expectations and more. Will definitely be back
I went to Cats Pyjamas for my Christmas Party and thoroughly enjoyed it, so brought my family back for NYE. The starters were lovely but the mains didn't live up to the same standard. We asked for the food to be made extra spicy but didn't taste the difference. They had run out of some of the drinks which was disappointing. We felt rushed and were constantly reminded that we needed to leave by 10pm, which ruined the atmosphere. When I booked I wasn't aware of this but later received a call where I was asked if I could come earlier, as they were shutting at 10pm. I wonder whether this was a missed opportunity as other restaurants in the vicinity were open later and had a much livelier atmosphere. For such young and new restaurant which has gained so much popularity in Leeds since opening I wonder whether they missed the mark here.
Food was excellent as always staff brilliant...... Restaurant could be darker and maybe a few candles may add to the atmosphere, that said the best Indian restaurant in leeds.
Great food but would like more vegan options.
Brilliant place, very funky and modern Made to feel welcome and relaxed Overall great experience, will definitely return
Not very impressed to be honest. Had booked for my birthday meal as a party of 7. Staff were lovely but very slow and not attentive. When the mains came there was a 10 minute gap between first curry to be served and last bowl of rice to be brought out. Not great when we wanted to eat together and have rice with the curry. Had to ask for children’s ice creams and the bill, no member of staff came and asked if we wanted puddings or anything else. The curry’s were far too spicy for most of us, spoilt it. We did mention this to the waitress when asked. All in all we would not return, a shame really as we we’re expecting great things.
If sitting in a cold upstairs area is a great first impression then you need to have a think and invest in a heater . Curry ok but had better . Overall - ' nothing special ' just about covers it and no excuse for having your customers sat in the cold .6/10 .
Really enjoyed my visit to the Cats Pyjamas. The food was great and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
food was good, but restaurant was absolutely freezing. had to eat in coats and scarves.
Not our first time, and the food was as good as ever. Excellent service, fair prices. Will definitely be back!
Food presentation could be improved, looks a bit like it's just tipped into the bowls with no thought or care. Maybe I just don't get street food though
first time visit and already planning another visit
You will find excellent food at The Cat's Pyjamas served by great staff. There is something for everyone on the menu and I always find it difficult to make my choice as everything I have tried has been delicious. Definitely worth a visit.
