About The Cat's Pyjamas - Eastgate
The best Indian street food this side of Delhi
Leeds based Scottish entrepreneur Alison White set up the second Cat's Pyjamas in Leeds. She worked closely with Alfred Prasad, the youngest Indian chef to ever receive a Michelin star, who crafted our menu with tantalising aromas and fragrant flavours to create food that will wake the taste buds. We celebrate Indian street food culture - the carts and street side vendors that dot the length and breadth of India’s regions, preserving age-old recipes whilst creating urban legends. Inspired by the hawker’s local dishes, Goa’s seafood shacks and the toddy shops of Kerala, every one of our dishes is infused with the passion of India’s cooks. We’re bringing the best Indian street food this side of Delhi to the heart of Headingley & Leeds.
Lovely tasty food. Not the hugest menu, but there was something for everyone.
Really lovely evening, nice relaxed and really good food Thank you
Disappointed in lack of flavour in the curries. Did not have the indian touch very commercial. Starters overspiced and overcooked (lamb chops dont look like chops). The main curries all four dishes had no flavour. Tasted lile out of the jar. Only Garlic naans were good. Wont be back unfortuately.
Food was nice and a a decent atmosphere but the service was very poor. Waited 20 mins to get served, they forgot parts of our order altogether and then didn’t have the dessert we ordered at the beginning when it came to serving. Never asked us for more drinks and there was very few waiting staff coming close to our seating area to catch the eye of when we wanted to ask about parts of our order missing.
It was good experience
Food, service and atmosphere was great.....will definitely come back again! Just need to make sure you don’t run out of soap in the toilets!!
Your place is amazing, another great night out!
We were upstairs and overall had a very enjoyable time. The only downside was there was a very cold draft coming form the toilets where a window was open.
Great food, great service, great value. A little quiet for a Friday lunchtime before Christmas, but we'll definitely go again!
Good food and service, sadly, the day I went, they didn't have half the beer in stock and a few main meals weren't in stock Come on guys, it's Christmas, stock up! But apart from the absent items, good experience.
Excellent flavour and textures to all dishes. Really enjoyed the Butter Chicken and the very light Garlic Nann.
As usual, fantastic food. The food was a little late to arrive, but the excellent front of house staff softened this by gifting us a free round! Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Amazing evening with great beers and delicious food. Attentive waiting staff.
Great visit- slightly unenthusiastic service but overall as good as always
Great little restaurant, food was amazing and just the right amount of choice (i hate menus that are too big) and price a really good deal. Will definitely be back!
Great food and, what restaurants don't always get right, the garlic nan was very garlicky, just how it should be!
Great venue, amazing food and lovely atmosphere. We were a really large group and the team were great at keeping in contact when organising and we were really well looked after on the night. Everyone had a really nice time. Thank you!
Fantastic food with great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be coming again
Perfect as always
The food was amazing at a good price. A large selection of drinks on offer and a lovely atmosphere. We were however disappointed with one or two male members of staff. We had pre ordered and my friends starter didn’t come out on time, he Offered her a drink to compensate and a few of just mentioned at the same time she was pregnant and could she have an alternative, we didn’t mean to all say this it once and we’re not intentionally being impolite he however made us aware “we usually only deal with one person speaking at once in this restaurant”! I also didn’t realized there was a service charge and so was a little embarrassed when asking everyone for a couple of extra quid so this could have been stated prior or mentioned in the Christmas menu.
I live between Leeds and Sheffield so I am going to try the one in Sheffield later this week and I can’t wait
Really enjoyed our meal, staff were very friendly and even brought a free drink for my birthday. I’m always really pleased to find a child friendly restaurant where my 2 year old is free to be himself and I don’t have to worry, staff made us all feel very welcome and comfortable
First visit and definitely won't be the last.
Food was ok, service and atmosphere could be better.
Food was amazing and good value for money Butter chicken - doesn’t need the honey in it
