About The Cat's Pyjamas - Eastgate
The best Indian street food this side of Delhi
Leeds based Scottish entrepreneur Alison White set up the second Cat's Pyjamas in Leeds. She worked closely with Alfred Prasad, the youngest Indian chef to ever receive a Michelin star, who crafted our menu with tantalising aromas and fragrant flavours to create food that will wake the taste buds. We celebrate Indian street food culture - the carts and street side vendors that dot the length and breadth of India’s regions, preserving age-old recipes whilst creating urban legends. Inspired by the hawker’s local dishes, Goa’s seafood shacks and the toddy shops of Kerala, every one of our dishes is infused with the passion of India’s cooks. We’re bringing the best Indian street food this side of Delhi to the heart of Headingley & Leeds.

Food was good, although possibly not quite as good as previous visits. Service was poor throughout and we were swiftly handed the bill at 9:30 without asking and without being asked if we would like any other drinks or desserts after clearing food. This was clearly to try and encourage us to leave although it was clear they didnt need the table back and just wanted to gohome early! The restaurant itself was also very cold, which we have also noticed on other visits. We have visited here on multiple occasions and even recommended to friends but it seems to be getting progressively worse and this will be our last visit unfortunatly.
Superb.
Everything was fantastic, the waiter Ryan was outstanding, best service and all round experience I’ve had.
We Enjoyed how the food tasted . No cats pyjamas larger !!! Dining felt a little cramped , the seating was too close to other diners. Felt like you was imposing on other diners space and conversation.
Fantastic food and friendly service. Always enjoy visiting and will definitely be back.
Excellent food, service and environment. Couldn't have asked for more.
We were a bit late for our 1pm booking and the staff member by the door was friendly and cracked a really funny joke. I rarely laugh at jokes but I did a real out loud laugh! The food here is amazing! It is literally my favorite indian food. It always tastes fantastic. We had the delicious onion bhaji starter and prawns too. Just perfect! Main course was chicken cafreal and butter chicken, pilau rice and roti. Each thing was just spot on. Absolutely perfect. I will be back. Not too keen on the toilets at Eastgate if I'm honest but I have a sensitive smell sense. Otherwise fantastic place and decor.
Good food. Although menu has very limited items but they are good.
Waiter scraping food in to bin next to where we were sat (which was already a bad table shoved in the corner next to metal gate by the stairs and smelly toilets with no view or atmosphere). Told there were no seats downstairs but could see several seats freeing up and downstairs was getting emptier as the night went by. Service was all round slow and particularly slow when waiting about 20 mins to have the oppurtunity to ask for the bill, which at many points the staff were stood talking behind the bar. Another thing to add regarding food on menu - the butter paneer (veggie version of the butter chicken) is the same price as the meat - needs a rethink about charging that much for and veggie dish. This restaurant is not what it used to be at all, disappointed.
Lovely food and our waiter was so attentive and polite. Will be coming back!
Enjoyed the food and friendly service but toilets were disappointeing. Need a deep clean and better extraction to get rid of the smells. Went elsewhere to use the loo. Might deter my guest to avoid.
Had an amazing time and the food was delicious!
We were accommodated very nicely considering that we were a group of 12. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed the food, but the area where we were sat upstairs was lacking in atmosphere, dark and freezing, we all had to eat our food with our coats on !!
Delicious food!
This was my first visit and was really impressed. Lovely food, good atmosphere and friendly staff. I’ll definitely be going back.
I absolutely love you guys. Best curry in Leeds. Service can be a little shoddy when waiting for orders to be taken and bringing card machine over. But apart from that, really can't fault the place. We must go at least once a month, which says it all!
Very impressed by the food and service
Great food
Food was amazing as usual. Had a great time!
Great food and service. Would definitely recommend
Lovely food. Gluten free options and the onion bhajis especially, are wonderful. Bit too cool in the restaurant we thought. Will be back however for sure.
Great restaurant
Staff were friendly and helpful, I’ve visited this location a few times and the service is consistently good.
Lovely food , had to wait a while in between courses , no one checked to see if we’d enjored our meal and took forever to get the bill
