About The Cat's Pyjamas
The best Indian street food this side of Delhi.
After spotting a gap in the market, Leeds based Scottish entrepreneur Alison White set up the first Cat's Pyjamas in Headingley. She worked closely with Alfred Prasad, the youngest Indian chef to ever receive a Michelin star, who crafted our menu with tantalising aromas and fragrant flavours to create food that will wake the taste buds. We celebrate Indian street food culture - the carts and street side vendors that dot the length and breadth of India’s regions, preserving age-old recipes whilst creating urban legends. Inspired by the hawker’s local dishes, Goa’s seafood shacks and the toddy shops of Kerala, every one of our dishes is infused with the passion of India’s cooks. We’re combining the energy from our bustling kitchen with vibrant decor to evoke the colours, chaos and craziness of India and create a fun, easy-going, dynamic atmosphere.
We’re bringing the best Indian street food this side of Delhi to the heart of Headingley & Leeds.
Really good food & friendly, efficient service, very impressed
Great food and ale as always.
So so good, been wanting to visit for ages and did not disappoint. Cant wait to return!
lovely meal, thanks
Amazing service and quality food.
Food was delicious!
Took my very well travelled friend here when she was visiting... she said (and i agree) its the best Indian weve ever had! the lentil dish and pomegranate chickpea salad and yorkshire cheese nann- blew us away i want it all again right now! lovely friendly staff also :)
Fabulous food, absolutely delicious but quite a long wait between starters and mains on this very busy Saturday night. It certainly won't stop us coming back though!
A wonderful meal and great service only thing I would say is we didn’t enjoy sitting right by the door downstairs as people kept holding it open for friends who were down the street and it was a cold and rainy night, and so at times during the meal we were cold.
Really tasty food and good portion sizes.
Best Indian restaurant in Yorkshire if not beyond. Food is outstanding, service is excellent. Steve and the team are doing a great job. Good to have Aftab the guardian wisely overseeing!
A bit squashed in. Service wasn’t great popadoms Dane after started sbd plates weren’t cleared before main course was brought out. Food was lovely though
Great meal at cheap prices. Slightly cramped but it's a small restaurant so understandable
This was our second visit and the food was lovely! However, the service was not - if there was a 0 star option then I would use it. Our waitress was not very friendly, she came across as slightly rude at times. Also, her time management was not very good. We finished our food and it took over 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared (it was obvious we had finished as the plates were at the edge of the table), then even more time for the bill to come. Two tables who had arrived, eaten and finished after us ended up paying before we did! Our reservation asked us to leave by 7:45 so we felt the need to eat and be ready to leave by then, we were unable to do so as we did not receive the bill until 8. Do not provide a "leave time" and expect customers to adhere to this if your staff cannot do so too.
Very good food
Great food and excellent staff.
We had a large group of ten booked on a Saturday night based on a recommendation from a friend - we were very impressed! A very different feel to a traditional curry house (a much more modern take). We particularly enjoyed the range of beer available. The menu seemed a little restrictive but it was all delicious and actually we had more than enough choice. An excellent evening
Low key street aspect, apparent absence of Indian staff and informal setting should not deter you. The food here is fantastic, tasty and delicate in the same time. Kind, accurate and professional (albeit very informal) service and very reasonable prices can only add to the high rating.
Fresh and tasty food served in a very professional manner with great beer. What’s not to like?
Always delicious food. Service was good and restaurant was fairly busy so good atmosphere.
Fantastic authentic delicious food. Absolutely the best curry I’ve had outside India where I travel to a lot . Relaxed atmosphere with great service. Can’t wait til the next time .
After a bad start it got better. I had made the reservation 3 weeks earlier, and I called 6 days before to double check. I was assured the booking was in the diary. I pointed out the importance of it because I anticipated the restaurant being busy with the Test match being on. I was assured the restaurant was aware the Test was on. My party of 6 arrived on time, to be told there was no table because they had been busy with the Test match being on ! You can imagine my delight. However, after some drinks on the house and a 15 minute wait, we sat down to enjoy a nice meal with good service from that point onward.
Great meal, very friendly and attentive staff with a great atmosphere. We will definitely come again and highly recommend the restaurant to friends.
Great food, good value and interesting beer. what more could you want.
Excellent modern street food indian. A nice alternative to the old fashioned indian options. All the dishes are very distinct, with lots of vegetarian options
