About The Cat Inn
Cat Inn is a 16th century free house, with four bedrooms, set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.
Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.
We welcome children over the age of 7.
Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room.
A beautiful ploughman’s lunch
Consistently excellent in all areas. Great seasonal, local produce and drinks.
As always we had a great dining experience at The Cat with excellent food and service....thank you !
Lovely Friday evening meal at the Cat with family. Food was wonderful and the service from both wait staff amazing. Compliments to the chef on excellent steak/tuna and pie and the lime tart was something that should be exalted!
I would like to see a good specials board , and the main menu I did not find at all tempting, it always has been in the past
Service was slow on last visit
Outstanding service and friendly, welcoming staff. Particularly love the pretty village location.
Fabulous food, lovely location, friendly and helpful staff
Love this place, 5* in every way, standard & quality of the food is superb & this is matched by the service, lovely staff!
Friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and a great atmosphere as usual - that's why we keep on coming back.
Great staff, super food. Definitely go back
Service was slow and waitress seemed disinterested. Pestered by numerous flies, possibly due to choosing fish cake, and the lettuce was past its best.
The male bar staff were very poor, no attention to what was asked of them! Got orders mixed up, and very slow! Once the female waitress appeared things looked up! Food was typical pub grub.
Delicious food & drink. Waiter needed reminding to bring our red wine after 15/20 minute wait and we were not asked if everything was okay during our meal, other than these minor issues everything was perfect.
Superb roast beef Sunday lunch, the best around.
We were really delighted with our Sunday lunch at the Cat Inn recently. We went for the roasts ....the roast beef my husband opted for ..... and he is a real roast beef expert ....was just as he liked it ....rare, tender and full of flavour. Likewise the roast pork the rest of us had was moist, full of flavour with the best fine crackling I've had in a long while. Portions were also very generous. Service was friendly and attentive and there were enough people there to create a buzzy atmosphere. Weather wise it was a beautiful day and it was great to have the front of the restaurant open to the courtyard so that one didn't feel trapped inside! Highly recommended!
I thought The Cat Inn to be a wonderful find. We were made to feel very welcome inspite of arriving late due to traffic problems on the way. The service was prompt & freindly . The atmosphere was lively & the food of a high standard for Pub food & good value. All round highly recommended. Christopher Walker.
Very expensive food and limited menu.
High quality food at a reasonable price, staff were very friendly and efficient, lovely atmosphere, couldn’t have been better
We love the Cat Inn. It’s our go to place to bring friends and family and we always big up your pie which is always incredible. This time - for the first time in years - the pie was not as good. The filling was slightly different to usual (not soft and slow cooked) and the mash and gravy were also a little off. Minor details really but a little disappointing when we have enjoyed countless fabulous meals at your pub.
Very good pub food. Probably the best food and service we've experienced in this area. The non-alcoholic Gin and Tonic was novel and enjoyed as I was driving. The only thing that could have been better would be if the waitress knew the specials/ had a portable blackboard, rather than us needing to get up to view the blackboard
you shouldn't make submitting comments a requirement -- it will put people off who just want to leave a star rating
Great food, great people, great atmosphere, great pub ! What more can be said.
One of the best meals I’ve had for some time. We try to get to The Cat as often as we can.
