About The Castle Inn
Located in the heart of the beautiful market town of Farnham on Castle Street, the Castle Inn a traditional family-friendly pub, offering delicious food and a great selection of drinks.
Good food and great service.
Really enjoyed our first visit to the castle inn. The food was great, service impeccable and fairly priced. My only criticism would be the route too and the toilets. It could really do with some freshening up. One hand drier is insufficient perhaps some paper towels would help.
Only slight dislike is the noise as there is little to absorb the sound. Otherwise excellent evening.
Fabulous garden area and attentive staff, friendly and helpful. Tilford Wilt ale is very good. Food portion sizes a little disappointing. Overall, a very pleasant lunch.
Great service and value for money quality pub food. Service and friendliness of staff excellent. Great atmosphere and this was at 6 pm on a Saturday so a big thank you to Melissa for making us feel so welcome.
Dined with a group of friends. Surprised to see only about three other tables occupied. One diner was vegan and the rest of us went for the Pan Fried Sea Trout. Disappointed about the value for money as the vegetables were VERY al dente and difficult to cut and the good portion of fish, which tasted very good, was served with a lot of potatoes. Seeing an almost empty restaurant, the service could have been better!
Delicious Sunday lunch with good service at a reasonable price.
Booked the restaurant for a Thursday night. Arrived early and had a drink in the bar which was good with a few customers. Restaurant was fairly full but the service was very attentive from a waitress who told us she was new. She was very pleasant and helpful especially as one of us has a gluten intolerance and they have a separate menu. The choice from the gluten free menu was good and pleased to be able to eat fish and chips! Fish was well cooked and a large portion. My partner liked the terrine starter but felt that the burger was over priced and not very tasty. We noticed there other customers were mainly groups of women so perhaps the menu appeals more to the 'girls' than the males! I would go again but my partner probably wouldn’t as the burgers in ‘Bills’ are better.
Excellent visit again
Very pleased with the service. Just need to either amend the bill layout to show voucher reductions really clearly, or train staff to say 'I've taken off your vouchers, the price you pay is there....' (The Duke of Cambridge always do this.)
As regular customers of The Wheatsheaf,we were a little concerned when Red Mist withdrew. So it was good news when they opened The Castle Inn.We are always made to feel so welcome, and the popularity it has quickly obtained speaks for itself.Food is first class.Special mention for the excellent service to Rob,Anna and Sandra.
Been to the Exchequer many times and the food is excellent. A little underwhelmed with my visit to the Castle
Nicely done out and very attentive waiting staff
Tina Nicoise was superb. Quiet for a lunchtime so lacking atmosphere, but great menu.
Having looked online and seen the Gluten Free menu with the statement about green plates we decided to book, and had high expectations that they would be on the ball with regards to people with Coeliacs disease. The atmosphere seemed good but unfortunately the front of house lady that showed us to our table was very abrupt and didn't have a particularly friendly manner. Having sat us down and handed menus to us she returned within two minutes expecting us to be ready to order?! Having got the two versions of the menu we checked if they definitely used a separate fryer which they lady had to go and check, when she came back she said they had just switched one on. This wasn’t a good sign as had we not checked there would have been cross contamination. We also noticed that there were inconsistency’s regarding the Halluomi Fries. These were not on the GF menu as a starter but were in the Mezze board on the GF menu. When we quizzed the same lady about this again she seem confused about it and claimed that they had only just started the GF menu the day before but kept saying that most things could be adapted. This was strange as the menu had been online for over a week before when we first looked at the website and when we booked 4 days prior to arriving. After this we decided to leave as we were not confident the food would be safe for a Coeliac. Unfortunately there seems to happen a lot with restaurants following the GF trend of people who choose it as a diet rather than Coeliacs disease, in which cross contamination can have serious effects.
Good service, friendly attentive staff, good food and good value for money
Great service from our waitress Melissa who coped well with having to tell us that things we chose from the food and drinks menus weren't available!
We were a group of 7 and had a really fun evening. Service was very good without being intrusive, and the food and drink was really nice.
Excellent food with great service - can’t ask for more.
Main menu a bit short on choice, whilst ‘specials’ didn’t work for us. We ended up with hamburger. Not the best for a special night out.
Service was slow despite not being very busy. Food was on a par with ‘Bills’. Unable to book a table in the garden to dine - first come apparently but most were just drinkers outside. Very average
