About The Butlers Arms
LANCASHIRE LIFE AWARDS - DINING PUB OF THE YEAR - HIGHLY COMMENDED
LTG - Pub of the Year Lancashire 2018/19
Welcoming both locals and visitors to the village and set in a casual dining atmosphere, the Butlers offers a selection of mouthwatering meals with two contrasting dining areas to choose from.
The recently refurbished Butlers is pleased to offer the best in carefully sourced produce, expertly prepared and accompanied by a wonderful selection of wines and a great range of cask ales.
Tasetfully furnished in country tweeds, leather with real stone and oak floors. The Butlers is the ideal location for either a casual meal in the bar area, or a more formal dinner in the dining room both of which are prepared by our chefs or maybe just a well earned drink in front of the log fire is the order of the day.
We offer a warm welcome to Walkers (with or without Dogs), cyclists. horse riders or anyone else wishing to pop in for a drink.
We also cater for larger parties including weddings, birthdays, christenings and funerals.
Our waitress for the whole evening was very polite and my daughter loved her energy. From arrival to exit there was plenty of interaction. The food was excellently presented and prepared. I did feel the menu was slightly over priced compared to some other eatery’s of the same quality within the Blackburn and Preston districts. However a great birthday meal with my daughter and lovely atmosphere.
Fish pie was VERY creamy. Waitress took coffee order then went home before bringing them bit overall vet good
I booked at the beginning of June for an anniversary gift to my sister. I felt really let down a christening was taking place and I wasn’t informed. If I knew this I would have cancelled. Instead we were put in the bar area where dogs are welcome. Not my idea of having a relaxing meal. The food was very poor which was not the standard I’m used to at The Butlers. The wine was warm. We were told this and the leave it in the ice bucket for a while. Our little party had a nice time catching up with each other but sadly I won’t be in a rush to return for food. I did complain at the time and was given a discount. I must point out this is not something I would ever do but on this occasion it was needed.
Everything was really nice, especially the vegan options. We were disappointed that 1 of the 2 vegan puddings was unavailable as well as 1 of the 3 Sunday 3 course options, especially as we ate early at 1pm. The roast beef mains only came with 1 small Yorkshire pud not a giant one as advertised. I'm not sure about my friends but my plate only had 1 small roast potato, I was expecting at least 2 or 3. The chocolate fudge cake was cold when we expected it to be warm but was still delicious. Overall it was a nice meal, all tasted great, but we were left a little disappointed.
Very nice food
The young lad behind the bar is an absolute credit to you ... friendly courteous and professional. Food and atmosphere fantastic. If I had one criticism it would be that we couldn't enjoy the outside area due to the large number of wasps there were ... think it is possible that there is a nest nearby ? We will definitely come back again though . Karen and Dave
Booked under recomdation. Place was quite busy but not packed. Checked in...waitress could not find any menus. Left waiting rather than being seated till menu found. Menu looked good. ..different from the normal. Ordered the salmon with pal choi in fish stock and loaded burger. The salmon arrived with no crispy noodles...questioned..Was just told they had run out. Oh ok. Then on eating..the soup based dish...spoon provided I pulled out a whole pal choi. Seriously...how am.i supposed to eat that. The burger had a slice of pineapple as advertised. Bit chewy...but then it would be. It was a slice of pineapple Inc the skin and shards. Stopped eating and informed staff. Meal wasn't paid for a free drinks offered...I was driving so nothing for me. Twice during this event load shouting came from the kitchen...Not sure if @#$$%% or calling for service but Not professional. Was told the manager Was away. I was not alone in this disaster. A couple opposite walked out after long wait for cold food to arrive. Outside more people were being offered freebies due to bad food. What's going on here. Your z business not a loss maker.
Fabulous service from Olivia and the team. Fabulous Vegan menu
Brilliant as always, all the staff do their best to make sure you enjoy your meal/drinks even when they are so busy, but again a special thanks to Marlon who always makes us feel welcome and looks after us, looking forward to coming again soon. Wendi & Mark
Very tasty food, sadly no Timothy Taylor's on today. Cauliflower fritters was quite a lot (would've served 2) so sort of filled me up so no room for pudding. My wifes bruschetta starter was amazing and I will have that next time. Curried cod loin was delicious but potatoes were a little tough. My cheese and onion pie was lovely but both main meals looked a little dried out. Service was great and friendly.
The Birthday meal we had booked for my mums 87th Birthday was ruined by the unacceptable wait for food .We had a table booked for 6.45pm on 26th July and did not receive our main courses until after 9pm . During the course of the evening we did not receive any explanation of why there was such a delay. There did not appear to be any senior person in charge overseeing the orders and explaining what the issue was causing the delays.
Fantastic pub in a lovely location, on the whole the service is usually very good but when the sun is shining the service level is not as good.
Great service, food, and the outside seating area was a lovely place to spend lunch time with family.
All the group thoroughly enjoyed lunch and drinks on the lovely terrace. We will certainly be back.
Our waitress Rubi, was really nice but waited extremely long for ours meals. To long. My husband was disappointed.
I booked this venue for my daughters christening with 60 guests. The staff were brilliant, very helpful and accommodating. The food was lovely, lots of complements from my guests. Would definitely recommend & would rebook myself in the future.
The waitress, Ruby, was brilliant with the kids. Great choice of Vegan food and interesting food for the kids.
Lovely decor and terrace, but sitting outside meant we were left waiting a very long time for our food. Ages between courses. Food choice good, but quality very poor. If you can’t get fish and chips right then you are struggling! Awful chips! Tasteless fish! Expensive compared to similar venues. Very disappointed!
Very pleasing atmosphere. Both the staff and the food were great. I Will definitely be returning and making use of the outside facilities that look amazing on a sunny day.
Been many times and always had good food until Friday when I visited with my partner and 2 children. It was busy but waiting an hour for food isn’t great especially when it was over cooked and dry. Sad to say not likely to come back for food.
Enjoyed it. We’ll go again
Food was amazing! Service was very attentive. Such a lovely place. Would definitely go again and will recommend it.
Gone downhill ... dirty cutlery dropped onto table ... phone and glasses... GF dish smelt off. A wait ... female staff disinterested ... male staff ok Not sure why that was
Over priced . Vegetable not cooked . Raw. But nice surroundings
Delicious vegan food as always 😋 tried the fried chickn jackfruit. Loved it! Always spoiled for choice at butlers. Will be back to try something new next time.
