About The Butlers Arms
LANCASHIRE LIFE AWARDS - DINING PUB OF THE YEAR - HIGHLY COMMENDED
LTG - Pub of the Year Lancashire 2018/19
Welcoming both locals and visitors to the village and set in a casual dining atmosphere, the Butlers offers a selection of mouthwatering meals with two contrasting dining areas to choose from.
The recently refurbished Butlers is pleased to offer the best in carefully sourced produce, expertly prepared and accompanied by a wonderful selection of wines and a great range of cask ales.
Tasetfully furnished in country tweeds, leather with real stone and oak floors. The Butlers is the ideal location for either a casual meal in the bar area, or a more formal dinner in the dining room both of which are prepared by our chefs or maybe just a well earned drink in front of the log fire is the order of the day.
We offer a warm welcome to Walkers (with or without Dogs), cyclists. horse riders or anyone else wishing to pop in for a drink.
We also cater for larger parties including weddings, birthdays, christenings and funerals.
I booked lunch for my sisters birthday. We arrived early but this was no trouble. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and we were given time to put the world to right and enjoy our wine and food. Service was polite and efficient. We had such a lovely time. Thank you. X
The Butlers held my mums wake ,it was amazing we have had so many compliments about the venue. The food that was provided was brilliant along (cheese and onion pie) had many compliments, along with the atmosphere. The staff were brilliant and went above and beyond everytime I requested something. We are a large family and wanted the best for my mums Wake,we certainly got that. I will definately recommend the butlers to anyone looking to hold a family/friends gathering. Again thankyou so much for everything you did yesterday.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch at the butlers arms. Staff very friendly, excellent vegan menu for my daughter and service was very efficient Michelle doughty
We booked here for a special occasion after a group of four of us had a lovely meal here. They asked for a pre-order as there was 15 of us, I emailed them a clarification and didn't receive a response so I called instead. When I rang I asked if the pre-order should be submitted by phone or email, they said email. We arrived on the day of our reservation and were asked if we submitted a pre-order, which I had. They don't monitor the email account so they hadn't seen it, the majority of our party had to change their order and it wasted my time collecting the pre-order. The food also took a long time to come because they hadn't pre-prepared it. When the food came two gammon steaks had to be returned because they tasted of salt and were inedible. Those two people therefore had no main meal. A number of desserts we also unavailable. I would not recommend this pub to a large group, which is a shame because it looks nice and the wait staff are very friendly.
Sunday lunch was just too big. Gravy a bit thick. Overall could do with a little refining., Food other people were having looked great.
Al four of us enjoyed our food. Definitely good value for money.
Great food and fantastic service as always
We have been here several times. I cannot fault it especially the very friendly staff and wonderful food. They are all extremely helpful and happy to give our dog Bailey his special treat...sausage and mash, even though it's not on the menu! Thank you everyone.
Excellent food and lovely staff
Very clean & cosy pub, good food and drinks! Great for a catch up with friends over lunch.
All staff really polite and helpful and the food was delicious, perfect!
Excellent meal as always but very sad to hear Marlon is leaving - Don't let him leave !! He is always so dedicated to making sure all the customers have the best experience possible, we will miss him.
Excellent food, friendly staff and superb atmosphere.
Venue & staff brilliant but menu OTT & pricey. Simple good quality food would definitely be a good idea. It’s nice to have unusual more upmarket dishes but maybe as specials rather the majority of the menu. Unfortunately out of the 11 in our party only 3 said they would return for food again. Venue is lovely especially the outdoor seating. Sorry to be so negative about the food as we did enjoy our visit overall. Thank you
Sorry to say I was really disappointed, my roast lamb was very fatty my Yorkshire was dry and cold, my partners cheese pie was left , to many cheeses in it and 3 which don’t melt including halloumi which even though I’m all for variety is odd in a pie,the couple on the next table also mentioned the pie sadly, my sons onion rings were really greasy. I think there are to many options on the menu so certain dishes come off lacking, I’ve had some great food at the butlers but the last few times have left it were we won’t be coming for a while, sorry I don’t normally leave negative reviews but we spent nearly £50 on food
Huge thank you to everyone for making my sister’s 40th an amazing surprise. All the staff went out of their way to make sure it was a wonderful night, the food and service excellent, the whole night and the preparation beforehand went very smoothly thanks to the great help by the manager. The back room at the Butlers was perfect for our party of 23. Thank you so much
Food was excellent seated in bar when dinning room was almost empty but this was rectified quickly and we had an enjoyable meal
excellent food, but too much background noise.
Vegetarian and vegan options are excellent- rare to find in pubs, especially locally! Food was freshly prepared and very well presented. Will be coming again soon!
Good food, nice surroundings.
Our table was located next to the toilets even though the pub was virtually empty. The frittata was so over cooked it was unrecognisable as egg - found one mushroom but no spinach and I doubt very much it was freshly made. Then to top it all my sons dessert choice of courgette and avocado cake arrived and it was a square of chocolate sponge with a scoop of ice cream - no explanation given. When questioned staff told him that it was unavailable and had sent a replacement dessert!! He wasn’t given the chance to order something else! Needless to say I was very disappointed. I emailed the manager privately as I’m not comfortable about complaining but as I haven’t heard anything back from them thought I’d fill this in.
Prosecco was really expensive at £23 a bottle , apart from that spoiling our night , the firepit here was perfect
Our waitress for the whole evening was very polite and my daughter loved her energy. From arrival to exit there was plenty of interaction. The food was excellently presented and prepared. I did feel the menu was slightly over priced compared to some other eatery’s of the same quality within the Blackburn and Preston districts. However a great birthday meal with my daughter and lovely atmosphere.
Fish pie was VERY creamy. Waitress took coffee order then went home before bringing them bit overall vet good
