About The Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd
We like to think that “The Bunch” as we’re fondly referred to, is how a great pub should be, and we are proud to say the Good Pub Guide agree with us, naming us the 'Dining Pub of the Year' for the UK.
We are creators and passionate about what we do. We brew our own beers, bake fresh bread every morning and create unique inventive seasonal dishes, with an emphasis on locally sourced, sustainable and seasonally fresh ingredients.
We like to break the rules- you can grab a homemade burger and a craft beer in the bar or a fine wine and modern British cuisine whilst dining with friends in the restaurant- either way its your call.
Where you can enjoy a home made pie and mash in the bar with a pint of Welsh ale while cheering on the Welsh rugby and then return with friends to a fine dining meal in the restaurant with wines from around the world the next.
But if you prefer you can just sit in the corner, read your paper, enjoy your beer and be happy you have found us.
Beautifully presented, delicious food, served with a smile. It’s a fantastic place to eat and it never disappoints.
Stand outs were certainly the Otley beer and stunning chocolate hazelnut mousse. Both were wonderful. Child fish & chips were also very good indeed. Roast I would say was above average with room for improvement. Roast potatoes could be fluffier and beef brisket more tender. In terms of service, throughout our meal we seemed to be served by several different waitresses resulting in some confusion and triplicate approaches to take desert orders. Also, perhaps a small thing but the chairs at our particular table were not right sized to slide under the table which caused persistent problems with leaving and rejoining the table for children toilet visits etc. All in all. A very nice place, great beer and some very good food and I would recommend on that basis. The polish in terms of service was not there but that said, it was a very busy Mothering Sunday service and all staff were personable and polite.
Delicious local produce prepared beautifully. Young chefs doing our country proud. Highly recommend. Why we go back!!
Fabulous food. Great service
Hi We had a lovely time but I felt that the choice was very poor for vegetarians - I had mentioned in my booking that there would be 1 vegetarian but there was only 1 choice and it was just ok-not very exciting. If you are serving roasts for everyone else a nut roast would have been better or something that could accompany potatoes and vegetables. The meat eaters were very happy with their meals!!
It is our favorite place to dine. Amazing food, great wine selection and attentive staff ... what more can you ask for?
Excellent Sunday lunch
Never been dissapointed
Great, as always.
It was a limited notice sort of thing although it was booked in advance. I went to u restaurant due2 tht bein my only way of celebrating my 50th Birthday. It was also meant to be with family members but, was let dwn at the last moment. The food was more than expected.
Lovely place. Food was very nice and the lass who served us was very polite.credit where credit is due.
Chutney with cheese , option for more veg and less meat for children . None alchol option on arrival for drivers and children . Taken to table before canapies . Lovely exsperiance , made the day very special . I can not wait to do it again on christmas day x
Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Very small portions; just not that great value for money.
Our 9th successive Christmas Day spent at the Bunch of Grapes and this one was the best. Exceptional food, friendly & attentive staff and a great beer selection. Lovely stuff.
First Christmas Lunch at the Bunch, wasn't disappointed. Lovely afternoon
We were more than satisfied with the service provided to us. We would recommend this place for food and ales.
Very disappointed with the Bunch Christmas special menu. Visited with some friends from London .Bigged this place up as we do eat there regularly.Sorry but the message going back over the bridge is not a good one. last years menu and food was "a Cracker" this year a failure.
Fantastic afternoon with work colleagues, food was excellent.
My go to place for Sunday lunch. Have always had a great dining experience
As always fantastic meal and atmosphere thanks
First impression on arriving wasn’t great as the car parking was very limited. Don’t know if we entered at the rear as the lighting wasn’t too good. Found our way in and, not knowing the layout, had to look for where to go. We weren’t met by anyone to help us and had to almost fight our way to the bar to ask where we were to sit. We were shown, then it seemed to take an age until a waitress arrived to take our drinks order. Although several beers were comprehensively listed on the wall, there were no prices and we weren’t given a wine list. After ordering meals they arrived without too much delay and were of an excellent quality even though quite expensive. Our bill for four, without starters, came to about £185 which included desserts, two pints and two bottles of wine. The wine was also very good as was the real ale. All in all a very enjoyable night but the service could have been considerably improved on. The atmosphere in the Dining Area wasn’t brilliant although the rest of the pub seemed to be ‘buzzing.’ We will return at a later date but not too quickly.
Food is beautiful would definitely recommend to friends and family
Have visited on several occasions every time everything about our visit has been excellent.
We've eaten here on many occasions but were a little diappointed on this occasion and felt the selection on the menu was a little restictive. we all had different starters and the onion ans sweetcorn bhajee was definitely the best - the crab was a little overwhelmed by the chorizo, and the artichoke dish was very bland. For the main meals, the steak and chips was good, although the chip were a little undercooked, as was the sweet potato served with the venison. The shin and fillet meal was a very small portion, especially when compared to the other dishes. Dessert was very good but we felt the wine selection could be wider. Service could have been a little more attentive, but overall was good.
