About The Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd
We like to think that “The Bunch” as we’re fondly referred to, is how a great pub should be, and we are proud to say the Good Pub Guide agree with us, naming us the 'Dining Pub of the Year' for the UK.
We are creators and passionate about what we do. We brew our own beers, bake fresh bread every morning and create unique inventive seasonal dishes, with an emphasis on locally sourced, sustainable and seasonally fresh ingredients.
We like to break the rules- you can grab a homemade burger and a craft beer in the bar or a fine wine and modern British cuisine whilst dining with friends in the restaurant- either way its your call.
Where you can enjoy a home made pie and mash in the bar with a pint of Welsh ale while cheering on the Welsh rugby and then return with friends to a fine dining meal in the restaurant with wines from around the world the next.
But if you prefer you can just sit in the corner, read your paper, enjoy your beer and be happy you have found us.
We visited just before a forced closure due to the coronaviras. So there wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant, but the service was excellent and the food was too. Once everything is back to normal we'll return for another visit.
Excellent meal. Good beers. Thank you. Will be back...virus permitting..
Fantastic food, great value for money. I've told lots of people to book.
Always a great service from Gareth and the team. The food was lovely and had a fab night in the bar once we’d finished in the restaurant
Very good choice of beers, food cooked and seasoned well. The flat house steak however was very sinewy and tough to cut so did not get the full enjoyment. Pork belly was good and well cooked Maybe more generous with what was on the dish instead of needing the sides to help fill the plate Nice staff, pricey but ok Would go again and for that reason I have tried to be balanced and fair with this review This is a very good pub
Good food, excellent friendly service. Great selection of ales.
We had a great time on Sunday to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Highly recpommended!
Food is fantastic, but the lack of people in the restaurant made for a slightly subdued atmosphere.
Thank you for a delicious birthday lunch for my dad.
Just a really nice relaxing evening out, with excellent and well thought out food, in an interesting setting.
Always love coming here. The staff are brilliant and the food is excellent. Easy to book a table and the reminder is really helpful.
My family dine at the Bunch of Grapes quite often, though only in numbers between two and eight. When recommended to my employer, we decided to take out a major client for a festive lunch, twenty people on two large tables. The food was all delivered together, very quickly and hot. Tables managed perfectly. The food as always was first class, and offering quirky variation to the usual Christmas menu... Most of the guests had never been to the pub but all commented on how much they were impressed with the quality of the meal and experience.
Can I just say a really big Thank you to all the Staff who took care of us on Christmas day , they were wonderful. And as for the food it was amazing, the dish of fish n and sauce mmmm. and the turkey was so Moist and tasteful. we had a wonderful day , and other guest all said the same . see you Next 25th
Another great meal. Great food and great service - love it here.
We had an excellent time celebrating a special birthday on December 23rd. We were a party of 14 and everyone enjoyed their food. Many hadn't been before but are already looking forward to coming back. We love the variety and use of seasonal ingredients. Thank you Bunch of Grapes.
We had a great Christmas Eve dinner with all the family, again, for the third year in a row. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic. Thank you for looking after us.
I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the service was incredibly slow and the food was not good. The steak was really fatty and chewy, the salted caramel ice cream was way too salty and one of the party members didn’t have all of the sides that they should have had on their plate. I think the food is expensive for a valleys pub and for the quality of the food and service. I don’t think I would come back here again.
Lovely bar and restaurant - real little gem of a place
Steak was delicious, I would have liked more vegetables though.
The food was amazing but the staff really friendly and helpful. The room was cold as we were by a poorly fitted wooden door that led outside and the service took a very long time and as this was a work function this caused an issue as we were there for over 2 1/2 hours. The quality of the food meant the value for money was good. I love the food and the people so despite the temperature I would still eat here again but perhaps sit in the main building and make sure I do not need to return to work. :)
A really lovely meal, always something a little different and always beautifully cooked
Have always enjoyed meals here. Used to work at the university but no longer so it’s a bit of a treck from Cardiff where I live, however will definitely be returning in New Year. Loved everything thank you very much for fantastic meal lovely ambience, polite service :)))))))
Quite limited menu for the restaurant, it seems a shame that the same range as that offered in the bar can't be offered in the restaurant.
Fantastic birthday lunch with my husband and our son. Thank you.
