About The Bull & Tide
The Gastropub is a buzzing hive of activity – featuring beautiful leather banquettes and booths and exciting gourmet food from our Head Chef.
With our chef preparing dishes with the very best of local Boyne Valley produce, guests can enjoy a diverse range of Irish cuisine promoting artisan food producers: from contemporary to more traditional dishes featuring mouth-wateringly fresh seafood, tender meats and tempting desserts – all imaginatively served to complement an extensive wine and beer list.
The Gastopub is a sister venue to the Black Bull Inn in Drogheda which has long been renowned for serving excellent food in relaxed and comfortable surroundings, thus the Gastropb in the Village will soon become one of the most popular places for eating out in the Bettystown and Drogheda area.
All of the food is prepared in house using the freshest available produce, delivered daily from our trusted suppliers.
I found staff to be especially friendly, attentive and professional
lovely hotel great food and drink and good value for money
Myself and 3 friends had a brilliant nite. Food fab and staff were excellent.
Had the burger was totally tasteless don’t think I’ll be coming back
We waited for ovwr 40 mins before we got our first course, the rest came out in goid time after that. Had ordered a cocktail and wine while ordering food and had to ask another waitress for cocktail about an hour later,i know it was busy but if i didnt ask for it,i wouldn't have gotten it at all.
The food and everything else was great. The only thing that let the service down was the staff forgot to bring vegetables with the roast special. Everything else was top.
Staff have improved since my last visit. I ordered flat iron steak & told my husband he should try it as its so good (I had it on 2 previous visits & it was melt in the mouth beef) They were both really fatty pieces of steak, mine was the worst it had so much fat it had curled up so I couldnt even cut it up never mind eat it! We were both starving after a long day at work, the veg & sauce were lovely so we ate them, my husband ate most of his but had to keep taking bits of fat out of it. No one came to ask if our meal was ok during our meal otherwise I would have said something but as I said we were very hungry. When plates were collected I expressed my disappointment to the waitress who appologised & said the butcher gave a different cut of meat. I think a blind chef would have noticed it was a piece of grizzly fat on the plate but when we paid no steak was taken off our bill? We even got desert as we were still hungry. Very disappointed so we will not be eating in there again, spending our hard earned cash on a piece of grzzly fat, we would have been better off staying at home with a take away! & yes I should have called for the manager but I was too tired & just wanted to go home & not cause a fuss, I am so disappointed as we only live in Castlemartin so its a shame :( We eat in the Blackbull a lot & never have any issues there.
Hi, really disappointed with the veggie options. Got to the restaurant only to be told the goats cheese tart had been taken off the menu only to be replaced with prawns. What are veggies meant to eat? Even the salad has black pudding and bacon in it. Very disappointing in this day and age and only one option for main. It’s not an incentive to go back if there is no veggie starter and only 1 choice if main. Also the veggie curry is €18?! Extortionate for what it is. I make it weekly. Granted bigger portions need to be made but veggie dishes should be cheaper. I was so excited to have a new eatery locally but because of the choices I won’t be coming back unless the menu gets more veggie options. The chef did do the tart for us in the end (my friend is veggie too) but I think that’s because it had only been taking off the menu the other day and they still had some in stock. I notice the village hotel also only really likes and comments on the good reviews on Facebook. It would be good if you acknowledged the bad too so customers know you are taking their feedback into consideration. Service was quite messy. Nobody greeted us on arrival. Walked to the till and it seemed the woman looked a bit hassled by us arriving. A lot of the staff are young and inexperienced. I would expect better for the money you charge your customers. I don’t mind paying the money if the food choices are there and the service is up to scratch. I have been in the hotel a few times and made comments on the veggie options so I’m disappointed to see you have now decided to replace the veggie with a prawn dish.
Lovely place for food but no atmosphere for drinks...needs more of a pub atmosphere for balance felt more like restaurant then gastropub. Staff lovely friendly and efficient
The squid starter was very salty, I could barely eat it. The salad starter (with cous cous) was a bit bland. The main courses and dessert were very tasty. Service was good. I will be returning again to give it another try.
Really impressed with this new hotel. The decor and food are spot on. We brought family from Dublin down for lunch and they said the fish was better than any fish they got served in Howth and that’s from my chef mother hard to please! Really friendly great staff and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were looked after. We will be back.
Food was amazing highly recommend
Loved it! Great atmosphere, service and really tasty food. Came with our two young kids and felt very comfortable with the great kids menu and crayons/pictures to colour in provided. Loved the lamb rump and both really loved the squid starter. Looking forward to returning!
Enjoyable visit to the village hotel.
