About The Bull Inn
The Bull Inn is a traditional and much-loved 17th century country public house. It is situated in the beautiful Somerset countryside, bordering the beautiful National Trust Estate at Stourhead, and a stone’s throw from Hauser & Wirth Somerset, The Pub is the perfect lunch or dinner spot for locals, day trippers or holiday makers. The menu will showcase local produce, with meat sourced from Durslade Farm, vegetables from the new on-site kitchen garden and local draught beers.
As soon as you walk through the door you relax into the atmosphere of the beautifully conceived management of a traditional looking pub. The quality of the cooking/menu is the clue that this is somewhere special. Take time to observe in more detail and the place just keeps giving more and more pleasure. Its so good here , can we just keep it to ourselves ?
Having spent many happy times at The Bull over 20 years I so hoped it would have retained its special atmosphere. I was not disappointed. From making the booking over the phone with such a friendly guy who was interested and friendly right through to staggering out of the door after a wonderful meal. The lovely atmosphere remains as does the signature carpet. Service was so professional but unintusive. Nothing was too much trouble and they took my husbands rather unusual but dangerous allergy to cucumber completely in their stride. The food was deliciously unfussy and totally delicious. The young staff, several of whom were ex students of mine, were confident, efficient and friendly, clearly happy in their work. I cannot wait to go back and try some of the other lovely dishes.
Have had lunch twice in one week. Excellent.
Fantastic service and food. We loved it!
Very good service and considering it was the first weekend a great experience all round. Thanks guys.
First time visit and when we heard Mitch Earl was the new landlord we knew we would have a wonderful evening. He and his Team were so welcoming and we had a great time. The steaks were lovely, the Pinot Grigio was the best I'd tasted, lovely flavour. We shall return frequently now. Love the decor, full of charm and old school style. Good luck! x
It was everything we hoped it would be-excellent service, good food, decent sized portions and well thought out decor. Amazing ambiance. We shall return!
The meal was absolutely delicious.
two things I would like to comment upon. Firstly, you had a menu written on a blackboard which said something like "some of our dishes". The menu at the table had more. However, when we asked for one of the items off the black board the waiter had to come back and tell us (because he obviously did not know) it was not on today and that the blackboard contained an "indicative list of the sort of things you serve" Where did you get that idea from? Secondly, the billing via the credit card machine was an absolute disaster. It doesn't take a genius to do a dry run the day before you open to check everything works. Otherwise, a good start in moving from the old pub to new management - good luck, I will be back so let's hope the master card machine works!
Really great visit, thanks. All staff were so kind. I wondered if you have a google-based reservation system as I started getting messages on my phone in the morning telling me it was time to leave for my appointment at The Bull, which was a bit irritating - really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, just weird :)
Warm and welcoming atmosphere and the food was delicious.
all very good, chloe our waitress was very good, would have liked cheese and bisquits as a choice instead of dessert
We enjoyed the food very much. Unusually delicious and made with love I would say.
Wonderful pub with great food - Make sure you have the pork scratchings !
I had a lovely time at The Bull, great reception, atmosphere and food, really loved it! Thank you Team, I'll be back!
