Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and beautifully presented.
We are local residents and wanted to give The Bridge restaurant a try under new ownership and since the refurbishment. Things are much improved, but not perfect and we had a good meal and a decent bottle of wine. Would recommend it to others and will come again.
We have been coming to The Bridge for over forty years, this in itself of course, means we were very satisfied with the service However, we stopped a year or two ago after change of ownership. We decided to try again and all five of us were very pleasently surprised. Well done we will be coming again
The Bridge Hotel in our view lost some of its quaintness but all the staff without exception are fabulous. From the receptionist through to the waiting staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious ( number 21) although a little warm for us. The kettle could be resited next to a plug and a few more teabags would be handy. But what still draws us to the Bridge on Saturdays is The Music of Guy and Sue who are extremely talented musicians. I personally preferred Guy to play a piano and keyboard as in the past but we do understand the reasons for just a keyboard . The drinks were a little on the pricey side but the food was superb and we couldn’t fault it. All in all well done to the Bridge for the atmosphere and evening they gave us . THANKYOU
Another great night with Guy and Sue. Will this now become a regular feature? I noticed at least two couples asking the same question at checkout. The food was as good as the atmosphere as always, however, the service was not. Having ordered pre dinner drinks, and waited 15 minutes, I had to go looking for them. Then we weren't given menus and had to borrow them from friends on the next table. We were asked by three members of staff if we had ordered our meal and it took another 15 minutes before someone actually took the order. The whole experience was tainted by this lack of service which I fervently hope you will fix.
Excellent evening for a family group ranging in age from 3 to 93
I enjoyed my birthday meal and cake. Thank you
Lovey food that was all nicely cooked, all with a good balance of flavoures. I really enjoyed the French onion soup and trio of apple dessert. My Mum’s Chicken main was , also, perfectly cooked. The service was welcoming and friendly by Richard and his team mate . We really enjoyed our visit and are looking forward to returning.
Dined as part of a DB&B offer and thought it was amazing value
Lovely meal, excellent service.
Selection of Gins and tonics limited eg No Monkey 47
Lovely food and friendly service. Only one slight problem the restaurant was a bit chilly on the day we visited.
I think the accommodation is a little 'tired' and needs to updated, however, it was clean, tidy, quiet and well-equipped. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food and wine were exceptionally good and we will definitely be back for lunch or dinner very soon. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Great food but poor service. Staff friendly but very slow in getting food out. We were not offered bread . Had to ask and received quizzical looks. We were overcharged £50 on a bill of 200. Such a shame as the food was tasty
This was our 2nd visit and we have already booked in for my husband's birthday this month. Staff are best we have encountered anywhere. How nice to be greeted with friendly smiling faces. Food is very good and service is excellent in this wonderful venue. Can't wait for our next visit.
Not many negative points..it would have useful if the waiting staff told you what the specials were and soup of the day etc when they gave you the menu as I had to ask when they came back for our orider. We did wait a while for our drinks which seemed strange as they weren't that busy at the time. The parmesan and truffle fries were just ordinary fries but when I asked it did get sorted out quickly. But on a positive note...the young girl serving us was very helpful everytime I asked her things and sorted out all the little issues we had without any trouble at all. The food was delicious...especially the French onion soup that I would highly recommend...and the rump steaks were cooked perfectly. It was also nice that every member of staff we spoke to was polite, helpful and friendly.
Great afternoon, excellent food & wine, we had a ball
What a wonderful location to celebrate the life of my mother - efficient service, friendly staff and well presented tasty food. a wonderful afternoon with family and friends
Friendly staff + very helpful. Modernization of the restaurant [work in progress] , looked good . We were a bit disappointed by the menu choices .
I have been coming to the Bridge for 30 years and have a definite interest in it continuing to do well. This time I used The Bridge to book a table for lunch for 10 people who meet up bi-annually. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and I could without doubt recommend it. However, The Bridge have now introduced a policy of wanting pre-orders of food 4 days or so before the day of the meal, in addition to deposits. Whilst I arranged all this, it wasn't easy for a group of people like ours who do not see each other from one meal to the next. One of our group was arranging another group lunch for a couple of months' time but, when she realised the work that would be involved in all the pre-orders, she decided to arrange the lunch elsewhere. So this is unfortunate for The Bridge as they have lost out on a lunch for 10 or so people in March. The service for our lunch at The Bridge was rather slow: our table was booked for 1pm but we arrived around 12.30pm for a pre-lunch drink and I informed the restaurant of our arrival. We were expecting a waiter to come and tell us that our table was ready, around 1pm (as used to happen), but no-one arrived. So, at 1.15pm, I went to the restaurant and asked if it was ok for us to come to the table, and we then all came and sat at the table, probably around 1.20pm. I expected that the starters, which had been pre-ordered almost a week before, would have been being prepared whilst we were having our drinks prior to coming to the table. But, in the event, it appears that the starters request was not put in by the staff waiting on until we had arrived at the table. So it was 1.40pm before our starters arrived and this does not seem acceptable to me for food that had been pre-ordered and a table booked for 1pm. This was especially so, since some of our party weren't having starters and then had to wait for a very long time before they were eating their main meal. The only other negative point for people amongst our party was that they felt the Light Bites Lunch Menu was not offering much of the type of food they would like for an occasion lunch, and they therefore had to move to The A La Carte Menu, which is of course quite expensive. In past years, The Bridge used to do a set lunch menu, with say 3 or 4 choices of starters and mains (such as roast chicken, or salmon or duck) for a given price, in addition to the A La Carte, and I think some of our party were really missing that sort of menu. It was very popular with customers. Overall, I still love The Bridge and the special atmosphere it offers, and I think the standard of food served continues to be a cut above the rest, but I am anxious that some of these service niggles are sorted out. I also feel you may like to consider certain lunch time menu offers. I'd like to finish by saying well done overall but do hope that, when I come again, I can confirm to my friends that the service aspect is spot on!
Food was excellent and we had a really enjoyable lunch.
Great refurb, kept the character but a lighter atmosphere now. Great service and food, I recommend to all who knew the old Bridge, you should like it no less.
Good food and service
Not the same quality as it use to be, shame we have been going here for 30 years
Nice pink beef even at the end of the day -very possibly sous vide. Green veg nice and al dente. Roast potatoes over large and not crispy enough. It was end of lunch shift wit few others around and so atmos bit quiet.Exit from Parking in dark difficult, in the past there was an old guy in a uniformed hat to help exit the car park onto the main road.
