Encompassing the traditional brasserie restaurant concept of friendly service, seasonal local produce, simply cooked and imaginatively presented. The emphasis is on big flavours, everything from breads through to puddings is homemade, and top quality meat, poultry and game are the backbone of the menu, accompanied by a well-rounded wine list.
Really friendly service and great food, it was our second time visiting and we were equally impressed.
Not explained very well what was included in our package. Beef brisket was very tough. Meat in breakfast was very dry. Service was too much personally. Very in your face.
Exquisite food as always. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We love all the extra touches and the fact that the food is sourced locally. Everything is made in-house and is absolutely delicious. We can't wait for our next stay in the spring. A big thank you to everyone for making our stay as fabulous as always.
Amazing stay once again and totally amazing food!!! The chef is pure genius with the foods and flavours. We are trying foods which we ordinarily wouldn't get to eat. By the way, the chocolarder is to die for! Everything was incredible and I am missing being so spoilt! The staff are attentive and we received excellent and friendly service.
The food was absolutely gorgeous and service was incredible.
Such a shame!! So decided to book a stay at the merchants manor for my partners birthday, spent the whole day on new year's eve trying to call but no answer on the telephone all day! I put it down to the staff being extremely busy I messaged via face book and got a reply pretty quick, I got a phone call back at about 10pm, I booked a room with a balcony with dinner bed and breakfast I also booked a treatment for my partner, a total cost of £258 I wanted my partner to have a a fantastic stay! So on arrival we are greeted by the conceriege, she was very welcoming and lead us through to the lobby/lounge to an open fire, we were checked in and given a small hot chocolate and a slither of brownie, I was thinking already that this place would be amazing! But how wrong could I be!!! We were shown to our room, which on a quick glance looked ok, soon as I had put the bags down I noticed that the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned, the bed was made but nothing else had been cleaned, the bins had no liners in them, the chest of drawers, table and all furniture was extremely sticky, dirty and dusty, the balcony doors had hand prints over them, on opening the balcony doors the small balcony was extremely dirty with a lot of moss and really worn table and chairs, the kettle was unusable due to being so dirty, the bathroom sink was dirty the pictures and plants were all covered in layers of dust, the list goes on!!!! I went down to the conceriege and asked her to pop up to the room so I could explain my worries, she was really sorry for the state of the room and said we could move to another room or have this one cleaned, we agreed to either and said we would go to the gym and my partner have her treatment, 5 mins later the room phone rings and we are told the manager would like to speak to us, brilliant I thought he's coming to apologise and sort our issues out, how wrong was I again!!! Will knocks on the door and already you can see he has a bee in his bonnet, the first thing he says to me is just to make it perfectly clear you won't be staying here and then asking for a refund in the morning, not once did I ask for this! Then he offered me a refund now and to move me to a different hotel, I was gob smacked, no offer to Sort the issue just a very rude and easy way out of sorting our issues, my partner then very stressed out, pleaded with him to sort the mess, we agreed to have the room cleaned by his team of cleaners as he said he was fully booked and couldn't move us to another room. We then check booking.com and guess what there are plenty of rooms free, will was lying!! So about 10 minutes later we get a knock on the door and there is a guy in a pinnie with a tea towel and a bottle of sanitizer who says "will says I need to do a little dusting" now I'm really starting to get annoyed it's like the manager "will" really doesn't care about us, his paying guests!! So I ask him to get will back up and see what is going on. Another knock at the door, so I ask him what he's playing at! You can imagine how this ended!! He basically said to me he would like me to leave as I've been awkward from before I got here as I left a bad review?? Mmmmm what bad review I asked!! When you messaged me to ask why we hadn't answered the phone all day!! This is what I messaged...... Hi there, I have called about 20 times today with no answer, I was hoping to book a stay for me andy partner, it's her birthday on Thursday and wanted to book a stay and treatment, I had seen an offer on your website and was wanting to book, is there anyway I can book this please. Not sure how this is any way is bad? This was a private message too, so not really sure what he was on about! I then question him on the lies about the other rooms, he says we would only find fault with them too!! So he said he was fully booked! What a cop out, obviously the rooms are in the same state! So at this point my partner is now in tears and I'm starting to get really stressed out, he stands there still denying any issues and saying they have been super busy etc!! He then uses the words "you people" bear in mind I'm wearing trackies and a hoodie, he looks me up and down and implies I'm not good enough to stay there, he then says I wouldn't be happy with staying there and I would only complain in the morning, my partner is pleading with him to sort this out, even after all the issues we have had. She still wanted to stay. Will just didn't care and defended his mistakes with no care for me or my partner, no people skills or customer service shown by him what's so ever!! I will never return to this hotel and its such a shame as this hotel has a lot of good things going for it, the issues could of easily been fixed. Will is the biggest problem and will lose a lot of customers along the way, I know you can't please everyone, but at least try!!!! So we decided to get our money back and head up to St Michaels hotel and Spa and omg what a difference, greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome through out our stay, they bent over backwards to help me and my partner, the porter was fantastic and the receptionist was amazing.
Beautiful food expertly presented. Waiter was attentive, informative and gave first class service.
We love this hotel that's why we keep coming back ! We cannot find a better hotel for excellent food and the customer service by all staff is outstanding
First class food and service, outstanding all round
Fantastic service. Amazing place. The staff are great and make the experience. Highly recommend Merchants Manor. Will definitely return when back in Falmouth.
Fab meal, local ingredients and lovely friendly service!
We have always enjoyed eating in Rastella and this was no exception. A lovely atmosphere was created with the staff being able to wear their own party outfits. Starting with the welcome drinks and the canapes all the team were professional, polite and knowledgeable about the menu and were fully aware of my crustacean allergy. Each course came with a detailed description of what it contained and how it was made. It was clear that a great deal of trouble had gone into making the meal special and all the courses were delicious. The warm figgy cocktail provided a talking point around the tables. Nothing was too much trouble and it was nice to keep your table for the whole evening enabling you to leave drinks safely when getting up to dance. A wonderful way to see in the New Year. Thank you
Lovely hotel, excellent food and service was exceptional.nothing was too much for any of the staff.a most enjoyable stay for my 50th birthday.would highly recommend.
We were extremely impressed on our stay with Merchants Manor, particularly with the service. Namely, Joe, Paulina and Jemima. Improvements could be made to the lightning of both the bedroom and bathroom, allocated for our visit. Perhaps, a little updating. Overall, an excellent hotel, well trained, polite and efficient staff. A gem in Falmouth.
Sunday lunch in an empty room , unenthusiastic staff , no atmosphere . a shame because the starter i had was stunning .
This review is slightly influenced by the amazing hotel deal we had. 3 nights stay meant 3 nights of dinner at Rastella. We were truly amazed at the value for money. This is because the quality and creativity of the food was exceptional. The food just seemed too good for the menu price! The chef is clearly passionate and the 3 AA rosettes hugely deserved. His choice of flavours and creative presentation were astounding. This is a person who knows what they are doing and clearly enjoys cooking with local and seasonal ingredients. The wine selection was diverse and rewarding, making the whole experience genuinely one of the best meals that I have ever enjoyed.
We had a lovely time. As a family, we needed cheering up and we got that, in spades. We were happy, the staff were happy and the guests we mixed with were happy, it was simply a delight to be there. The room was ideal for a disabled person and the beds comfortable.I think it likely you will see us again.
A relaxing and beautiful experience. All the staff are first class , informative and knowledgeable about all the menu. A special mention for Joe , Mollie and Olly.
Excellent. Cannot be bettered
Starters and pudding very nice, but main course fairly average, I had a Pork dish with small roasted potatoes and a mediocre gravy type jus, not very inspiring. Also by the time the bottle of red wine we ordered arrived we had finished our main courses. A pity, we had a lovely dinner the day before.
Food was wonderful as were the staff. A hotel to be proud of.
Food was good, but not exceptional and not particularly inventive.
Christmas evening buffet was nice, cold meat, prawns, salmon with pickles breads etc. The plates were very small though and made it difficult to eat without it all falling off.
The quality of the food was the reason we wanted to return to Merchants Manor. The Christmas lunch was fantastic. We enjoyed all our meals and the menus were exciting and different. Thankyou
Christmas Day lunch was fantastic, beautifully cooked turkey and crispy roast potatoes. We had an extra boat of gravy, it was so good.
