At the heart and soul of our food and drink offer exists a desire to celebrate all things local. Our inspiration is drawn from the seasons and fine produce from suppliers who also call Plymouth and the South West home.
The Box Kitchen & Bar brings you everything from delicious coffee and perfect pastries, to quality dining experiences that celebrate both classic flavours and new creative dishes that you’ll want to return for time and time again.
I am sorry, I am not able to leave a review as we were unable to take up our reservation. This was due to the changes in the national Tiers. It resulted in Plymouth going into teir 3 and the museum and we assumed, the kitchen at the Box also being shut- we are hoping that we can rebook subject to national covid rules.

Hello, I enjoyed the food in your cafe and the staff were very friendly, but unfortunately the social distancing was non- existent. On this basis I wouldn’t recommend you until we are COVID free!
Thank you for the feedback Marianne and pleased you enjoyed the food and service! I am sorry to hear you didn't feel covid safe with us though. In line with government guidelines and through working closely with The Box team, we have ensured all our tables/seating are spaced 1 metre apart. We welcome all guests via our host station ensuring that all track and trace details are collected. Guests are escorted to tables via a one way system and all orders taken at tables to ensure low movement of guests. The team are continuously sanitising tables, chairs, work surfaces, hand washing and wearing face masks as well as measures in place for delivery of drinks, food and utensils to tables. I am sorry you didn't feel that this was demonstrated to you, but rest assured we are performing these key tasks everyday to ensure all guests and staff feel safe. We hope that once we are free from this pandemic, you will decide to visit us once again under more normal circumstances.
Food was very good but waitress could do with a bit more training

As you can imagine, we are still a fairly new team with new starters as well as some apprentices, as we offer a front of house and back of house apprenticeship programme. We are always in the process of training and hopefully this will all improve once we are able to operate normally. Please do visit us again soon!

Best battered fish that we’ve tasted, gorgeous flavours as it melts in your mouth. Really enjoyed the warm festive cider too. We are already planning our return.

Burgers are slightly too expensive for what you have on your plate. It’s not completely clear that cakes and pastries are available all day long as customers are unable to look at the counter and what might be available that isn’t on the menus.

We have our hot drink and cake offer available all day as noted on our drinks menu and the team are always available to go through the details of cakes available. Louise was wonderful, very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious too. In fact we're wondering about holding our wedding at the box because of it. What a great addition to Plymouth's already good range of restaurants.

The Kitchen has a relaxed and professional atmosphere. The Front of House member of staff is welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. At a time when the festive spirit is hiding behind a pandemic, being able to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and some light mince pies was a good acknowledgement of the season.

We had a lovely lunch. The staff are really friendly and it felt very safe with tables at a good distance and plenty of sanitiser! Food was yummy!

We came for the first time and it coincided with the Breakfast with Santa. From the minute we arrived, Louise made us feel so welcome, and we felt very comfortable with the covid measures that had been put in place. The food was lovely - generous portions, and the coffee and children’s hot chocolates were delicious too. We didn’t feel rushed, the service was attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely be back, thank you!

Three quarters of an hour per booking isn’t long enough.
Thank you for the feedback Antoinette. The 45 minute timeslot simply allows us to manage our bookings given the current situation. We certainly don't hold our guests to this restriction, as we want everyone to relax and enjoy the food and service we have on offer. Once seated, we would not expect you to leave after 45 minutes
