About The Boxing Hare
Our aim is to bring country fine dining to the Cotswolds. The menu will revolve around the best seasonal produce locally sourced from British farmers with occasional indulgences as well as virtuous everyday fare.
We hope to create a warm, charming and informal atmosphere where we can build a strong following of regular, happy guests and new ones too!
Most importantly to us is that The Boxing Hare should be a great place to wile away a few hours and be looked after by people who truly love what they do.
Be it a casual drink with friends, a romantic meal, a special celebration or a family outing, we look forward to welcoming you to The Boxing Hare.
Arriving at 12.30 .No one asked if we would like drinks until1.00. Food order not taken until 1.10,first course arrived 1.40.Starters of good quality, main course fish also good but roast leg of lamb turned out to be slices of shank end with accompanying sinew and connective tissue. On complaining was told this was the luck of the draw! After a v. slowly served meal we eventually escaped at 3pm. We will not return.
A wonderful experience -we will be back x
Wonderful atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. The best pub in the North Cotswolds for outstanding, freshly prepared food. Everything is homemade in house and the desserts are to die for, This has THE BEST Sunday roast you will ever have.
This was our first visit and we would definitely come back. Excellent food. All four of our party thoroughly enjoyed their starters and main meals. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing! Service was excellent.
A fine looking roadside pub with plenty of parking. Welcoming, comfortable and pleasing atmosphere. An excellent menu - very varied and interesting. Delicious food, well presented and plentiful. Good beer, wines and service. A really good dining experience which encourages return visits. ( Only, very minor, drawback - the Cristal d'Arques, school canteen, water glasses ! )
A wonderful experience. The food was excellent and well matched by the service. Our only regret was that neither of us could manage a dessert which all looked as delicious as the rest of the menu.
3rd visit to the BH now. Good food but a long long way to go on service.
My husband and I have brought a selection of family and friends to eat at The Boxing Hare several times since it opened. All have been impressed. We make a forty minute journey to do so, as we find your menu a refreshing change to the prefictable meal options in most country pubs near us, especially Sunday lunches. We’re impressed with the level of skill in the kitchen and the warm friendly service. I just wish you were a little closer to our home in North Buckinghamshire.
Incredible food. We will be back. Regularly
Your food is of high quality but some dishes are expensive for what we were served. I had the salad as a main for £14 and although the taste was very good, felt underwhelmed by the portion size. We live locally and other pubs around offer better value
Enjoyed our meal very much indeed. Good selection off a la Carte menu. Restaurant area is quite noisy due to hard floors and no soft furnishings to absorb the sound.
This is just what the area needed. A lovely gastro pub with consistently great food. Stacey is a great host and it’s a very precessional outfit overall.
Having raved about the great food, ambience and friendly staff, our friends were most keen to visit.. A great day was had be all, expectations exceeded! ...

We had a table in the rear room with the hops. Given that there were a couple of groups and music it was really noisy! The music was terrible and everyone talked loudly thus making it uncomfortable. The food was excellent and I will come again but only if there is a table in the front of the restaurant, it was just too noisy in the ‘hop’ room.
Good food but you need more staff
Fabulous food. Pricey, but worth the money! Appeared understaffed for the amount of customers.
